What do we think of Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party?
(1001 Posts)Whatever side of the debate you’re on he is very watchable.
I wonder how they’ll do in the elections ( if we have them )
Of course the Brexit party will "do well", in the estimation of the empty-headed who voted to leave the EU in the first place. They will vote for a dictator who promises them this ephemeral 'Brexit', which means nothing other than the simple word itself. There is still no legal plan, 'Nigel' will have no power in parliament. No change will be made to the maths within that place. No suggestion of a realistic way forward will be made because, of course, that would actually split the vote.
It is possible to leave, should that be the will of a properly informed electorate, who present, what would be a complex plan, before any vote takes place. This vote will just be another 'throwing the toys out of the pram' occasion while we hear a repeat of the Neanderthal name calling which basically amount to screams of "you didn't tell us it wouldn't be easy" as if those who oppose this hair-brained scheme are the only grown-ups in the room.
We could have left, and left as well as possible if those who run around, undermining society, had done the hard work and done it honestly. This shambles will just be added to by the Nigel Farage party votes for places in a parliament he wants to leave so he can go off and increase his wealth.
I
I am sure the Brexit party will do well as Farage can talk the talk and his supporters think he is the messiah come to lead them into the promised land. Still won’t affect Mayhem and co.
I also think the Brexit Party will do very well in the European Parliament elections. However, as with the Local Council elections, it will all count for nothing as the only authority that matters as regards to Europe at present is the House of Commons.
Therefore, the only way that Brexit party dictator Farage can make any difference is through a General Election. That stated, in a General Election he would have to put forward policies on such matters as the housing crisis, the Gig Economy, the NHS, Social Care and much more which would place his "diverse" supporters at each other's throats and in all probability not vote for Farage in such an election.
Exactly Day6 and have just heard that MEP elections will definitely go ahead now on May 23rd.
The Brexit Party stand to do well, as do the Lib Dems.
Got a bit muddled - you can be an MP and Mayor of London at the same time though
It’s rotten timing for them isn’t it ? They have to put in nomination by Thursday so obvs before MEP elections and they can’t do both ....... oh wait a minute
No ones a member of the BP - Nige can’t be doing with actual members. There seem to tweets and counter tweets re who is standing for BP in Peterborough - the only definite thing seems to be is that Nige isn’t ?
Googled George Galloway.
He says he will SUPPORT the Brexit Party as a one time only vote.
That to me indicates he is not a member of the BP.
Just loving the knots that BP supporters are tying themselves in. GG - SH supporter doncha know?
Oops! Correct maryeliza of course. Sorry.
I don’t think George Galloway wants to be a contender. NF said this morning there were 3 possible candidates and he would announce tomorrow who was standing.
The fact that GG is standing tells you everything you need to know and then some about the BP.??????
Or three strong characters who speak their minds?
Might be a better alternative to the treacherous Theresa May "Leave means Leave" - my arse! Or Jeremy Corbyn - turncoat, hypocrite who was until not long ago, anti EU and all it stood for. All his career he was a Eurosceptic but looks like Momentum has told him to become a Remainer.
You couldn't make that up either, really, could you?
We have been lied to and betrayed by the two main parties who see-saw in and out of government. They system just doesn't work any more. Labour were accused of being Tories in red ties, Tories have been accused of being too liberal and wanting red ties!
We are well overdue a change and the Brexit Party is it. The candidates speak as the people feel regarding Brexit. I am not and never have been a fan of the revolting Galloway though. What an opportunist creep!
Widders and Farage both speak well regarding the Brexit betrayal. People are listening too.
It could be that this shambles is better than the shambles we presently have or could have later in the year.
Therein lies the problem..... there’s nothing really worth voting for.
George Galloway standing for the Brexit party, I just cannot believe that. He was considered "a hard left member" when he was in the Labour Party many years ago. However, with that not being far left enough for him he started his own party.
So, we now have ultra right Nigel Farage, ultra-left George Galloway and Ann Widdecombe who (presumably) will act as referee every time a row breaks out between them.
And people are going to vote for this shambles, surely not.
ARM is an MEP candidate for BP - do keep up Urm ??
Eh?
I thought it was going to be Rees Mogg’s sister campaigning for Peterborough?
George Galloway the Brexit Party candidate for the Peterborough by-election. You couldn’t make it up. Such an array of talent in the party ???????
And still the young ‘uns can’t be bothered voting!!
Just now in the Graun
‘Registration closes at midnight, yet millions of mostly young voters are not signed up – they could send a clear message to the main parties’
Yet Remain oldies wail and say ‘they’re taking my grandchildren’s future’.
You couldn’t make this up.
?
The latest ridiculous statement (of thousands) by Farage is that he demands a role in the brexit negotiations if his one man party wins the most seats in the forthcoming elections.
The money’s already been spent.....
I will be voting for Farage's Brexit Party in EU elections if we have them. My dh and 2 ds's will too so he will have all 4 votes form our house. He is not everyones cup of tea but in my opinion he tells it as it is. Last week he said we cannot afford to stay in EU as will cost 17.4 billion each year now as our economy doing well with unemployment very low. That money could be used to sort out social care, NHS and pay for more police...........or handed over to EU for Junker to spend on wine.
£100,000 mystery donor, what about the Labour Party conveniently forgetting they received a donation of one million pounds several years ago?
He’s certainly ruffling a few feathers.
Good!
Not before time.
This dog’s dinner of negotiating Brexit needs better focus and determination.
I do not need a thesis, a sentence or two commenting on what is likeable about NF will suffice please
Well, some of us have the same problem with Jezza, the forgetful anti-semite who favours the Venezuelan system and seemingly, all enemies of the UK.
Very few leaders of political parties are loved. Most get flak. We'd be robots if we all saw just one person as the solution to all the UK's problems.
May is not it, Corbyn would create more problems than we have now and that's about all we have (realistically) to choose from.
But now we have Nigel Farage who is refusing to roll over and die, when the leaders or Labour and the Conservative Parties are doing all in their power to write off the Leave vote.
He might be a five minute wonder, but right now he is the only hope the ignored, unheard, dismissed, insulted and damned angry people of the UK have got to cling to. The support he has gained in such a short space of time is an indication of the level of frustration millions of people are feeling.
Farage is also quite an orator. Just as Kinnock was. He has been very well received, like it or not. People who normally wouldn't bother have become politically involved. May and Corbyn fear his stance, the stance of the Brexit Party, and rightly so.
