What do we think of Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party?

How do you know definitively that Brexit will be bad, and don't you think Leavers consider their grandchildren and all those that will follow?

The Brexit Party is unfortunately doing well in the polls. TM's deal is not what leavers voted for and certainly not acceptable to remainers. A soft Brexit in pointless leaving us tied to the EU with little say and a hard one too damaging for the economy. In the forthcoming elections (EU and local) it will be interesting to see just how well they do.

I urge GNers to do right by their children and grandchildren. Britain no longer has a captive Empire market and trades more with the EU than the rest of the world. Brexit is bad for Britain no matter how much greener the grass appears outside.

I have watched the Carole Cadwalladr TED talk and consider some of her assumptions naive. The fact that she travelled to a leave voting Welsh town and saw a Sports Centre and roads build by EU funding 'How could they vote Leave when they have these EU gifts'. Her assumption is Facebook and CA must have been responsible for brainwashing these people.

There may well have been a plaque on the Sports Centre stating it received EU funding. Many have plaques that say they have Lottery Funding. Do people think there is a benevolent entity called 'Lottery' or do they have the mental capacity to know it is those who buy the tickets that provided the funding. I think most sensible people know that there is also no philanthropist with initials EU who graciously decided to contribute to a Sports Centre in Wales. Sensible folk recognise it is their taxes that pay for anything claimed by the EU.
Could it be that the folk from the Welsh town knew this? However, Carole, the true journalist thinks that people cannot know this and something else must have caused the gross error of judgement causing the Leave vote. It must be the internet pushing the immigration trope. Carole states she only met one immigrant woman in the town, a Polish woman, so how dare they quote immigration, they must have voted leave because of the internet and the pro Leave IT Bods must have targetted the internet pages of the people of this town with subliminal anti immigration messages. Well Wales has always been very welcoming to immigrant for centuries the country has been enhanced by them...even English.
Carole contests that Facebook swung the vote to Leave. I think most people who use Facebook are only interested in what Friends and Family are up to and if there is anything decent for sale. Few even look at anything other unless they specifically want to and those usually have made their decision.
There are those who consider the news media as being the bastion of truth and integrity, as we know from history, just about all news/political broadcasting is perverted or witheld to manipulate the masses, yes some gullible will swallow, others will question.
Carole Cadwallader now considers she is the vanguard of truth, Really?

Those who think remainers to blame for the H of C impasse seem to forget it was extreme leavers in the Tory party and DUP who Voted against the WA.

I suggest that you do hold your nose and watch it, Ug because what Carole has to say goes far beyond Brexit and has chilling and scaring implications for the future of the democratic process in any country's elections or referendums unless the practices she describes can be controlled in some way.

What does "leaving on WTO terms mean to you Urmstongran. I don't want to be rude but I don't believe you have a clue. As is it you that wants to impose your will on the other half of the population perhaps you could explain it to us.

Carole Cadwalladr became an "entrenched remainer" because of the shocking evidence she uncovered in over a year of painstaking investigative journalism, as she explains in her Ted talk which I recommend to everyone, especially those who will not want to hear it.

So, Nigel Farage had stated that Britain should leave the European Union on WTO terms. How does that resolve the Northern Ireland border issue Urmstongran?

Therefore, without an answer to the above question, we must take it that in the mind of Farage, because of the terrible perceived injustices suffered by Britain while holding EU membership, makes a good enough reason to risk re-starting the war in Ireland.

What a leader to have for all his Brexit Party followers.

I could only find one post which was specifically referring to Jeremy Corbin.

Could I suggest you too re-read the posts to see the very strong comments towards NF and those who may choose to vote for the new 'Brexit Party'.

I am going to put this link on - something we should keep watching and remembering. I am very aware that those who will watch are probably those who are aware and those who should watch probably won't - but I live in hope that you value our democracy as much as I do.

Grandad I voted leave after years of looking at EU headquarters and the money they spend on vast salaries, expenses and moving the whole “circus” between to cities to keep “some people happy”.

If you or I or any UK business did not get its accounts audited and submitted on time we would have to answer to HMRC.

I was in favour of the Common Market but not what the EU wants now i.e. Federal States of Europe!!!

I was not gullible to be sucked in by a slogan on the side of a bus, bent bananas or the fact that our parliament did not control immigration due to the EU.

I love Europe but looking at the situation on mainland Europe with the rise of the Far Right in numerous Countries, Italy’s GDP is in trouble with their Bonds about to dive. Germany’s Bond 0%, Greece is held ransom??? Why would any sane business person want to hang onto the EU coattails?

But, Urmstongran even if they won every seat in the EU parliament they have no power to do anything as the don't have any seats in the UK parliament.

What happens then? It will be seen as just another protest vote with no proper plan, not outcome - do you really think everyone who want to leave wants the same as you - and no part in negotiations.

What a waste of time and effort.

So, people are planning to vote for the Brexit party in the EU elections so they can have MEP's that plan to disrupt the EU and not represent them properly [other than being disruptive I suppose] so they can say the EU isn't representing them. Just about sums Brexit up ...

But what is the message? Leave? Well that is no big deal, the point is how and what will our future relationship be like?

This is a disgraceful comment. The few times NF has bothered to turn up for EU sessions he has behaved like a spoilt brat, shaming us all. And this is the kind of 'leader' you want.

In that, they blame anyone and everything for the fact that they were "led up the garden path" by people in the leave campaign leadership who had no idea how they would extradite Britain from the EU once they had won the referendum.

Those Brexiteers stated that the European Union would "fall over backwards" to secure any leave agreement/trade deal with Britain. The EU have not.

They Brexiteers told us that "these would be the easiest negotiations ever concluded." Those negotiations have proved to be anything but easy.

The Brexiteers have blamed the Labour Party for there being no agreement in the House of Commons. The Labour Party is not even in government in Westminster.

The Brexiteers accuse the EU Commission of "bullying Britain" in the leave negotiations. In that, Britain has been demanding terms that under treaties UK governments have signed means those terms cannot be granted

The Brexiteers state in the most serious problem that the Northern Ireland border issue can be solved by "technology". However, any number of reports have stated that such technology does not exist and in that, it is at least ten years away.

Therefore, we now have Mr Farage and his Brexiteer disciples having no answers to any of the problems that face this nation in leaving the European Union. When asked if the risk of restarting the war in Ireland is a price worth paying for Britain to leave the EU, they do not answer.

When asked what they have say to all those in such industries as vehicle production and transport who are having their jobs threatened by brexit, they do not answer.

We now have a situation were many Brexiteers are supporting the Brexit party that has no thought through policies even on the Nothern Ireland issue and much else that involves Britain leaving the Europen Union.
