Whatever side of the debate you’re on he is very watchable.

I wonder how they’ll do in the elections ( if we have them )

GracesGranMK3 Sat 11-May-19 14:17:46

GrannyGravy you may choose to believe Farage has people worried but please don't include me I that. It is not the guy at the front that worries me. He knows exactly what he is aiming to do and so do I. It is the cheering crowds, their thuggishness, the idea that half the country has 'beaten' the other half and that the other half must therefore have no voice, the undermining of democracy where laws only matter if the suits the followers, the willingness to obey the leader whatever he is asking for; it is those people who worry me.

Urmstongran Sat 11-May-19 13:21:37

The current standoff is a culture war and no-one will “win”.

Banging on about how thick leavers are, or how the campaign lied, or any other negative attempts to turn back the clock will just entrench the culture war further.

suzied Sat 11-May-19 13:14:15

Plenty of examples of Farage lovers slinging the mud on here.

varian Sat 11-May-19 12:52:34

Times cartoonist Peter Brookes puts him in his place. Let's put a stop to pollution.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 11-May-19 12:46:24

Urmstongran I fear we are entering "hysteria city"?

NF has got a lot of people / MPs rattled.

Urmstongran Sat 11-May-19 12:41:55

Hmm..... ‘rosy uplands’ or ‘putrid mire’

Really?

Hyperbolic nonsense.

GracesGranMK3 Sat 11-May-19 12:18:34

What names have you been called Gabriella? I don't know to which post/s your insinuations apply but I have certainly not done so and cannot see where anyone has. But you go off and have a little break. While you do it just think about what Brexiters have done to our country, after all they are the only ones who wanted this debacle. They got it offering the rosy uplands that never existed, now all we are offered is the putrid mire from which there seems no escape. I, for one, will never forgive those who were prepared to split our country apart to serve their own ideology.

Urmstongran Sat 11-May-19 11:40:01

Well said GabriellaG I agree with you entirely. I think I shall drop this thread for a while..... it’s just mud slinging!

Margaux Sat 11-May-19 11:31:44

IMHO, Nigel Farage has a lot to answer for. We wouldn't be in this mess but for him.

GabriellaG54 Sat 11-May-19 11:24:26

This thread has become a war of words and neither leavers nor remainers are going to budge an inch therefore it's a futile exchange.
Why denigrate someone else's freely thought out position which is just as valid to them as yours is to you?
For remainers to then collectively name call those of us who back Farage and want to leave the EU in whatever way we can, says far more about the name callers than it does about their targets.
Why, if you believe it's best to remain in the EU, do you seek to spend your time trying to convince us leavers? It's a lost cause, we will be leaving but I at least have no need to rub your noses in that fact. You are entirely free to be wrong. grin

crystaltipps Sat 11-May-19 09:08:00

day6 she was reacting to the near on 'end of life as we know it" levels of hysteria from most naive Remainers, who cannot imagine anything worse than not being tied to the EU forever
So most remainers are naive( or is it just the naive ones? ) can’t understand that sentence, rather ridiculous statement though, of course World War 2 is worse than Brexit, who would ever say that? - as it was worse than being a member of the EU as well, so what does that prove? Nothing, apart from the stupidity, crassness and naivety of the speaker.

GracesGranMK3 Sat 11-May-19 08:58:55

You do write such rubbish Day 6. No one "wants" those who still want to leave to act like "Little Englanders" It is just an unfortunate fact that a proportion, and a very loud and noticeable proportion, do. The more intelligent - Nigel Farage is a case in point - have learned to be far more subtle, but get a gang of the anti-Islamic and anti any one who isn't "us" together on a quiet forum and I promise you they still exist and the are rabidly anti-Europe/pro any sort of Bexit, whatever damage it does. Because, unlike you, it appears, Day 6, I get out of this rather more genteel bubble, and visit other forums, I see this on a daily basis.

And those who voted "Remain" are no more "losers" than those who voted to leave. Sadly, we it looks as if we will all be losers. No one has yet been able to show how anyone, other than than the excessively wealthy, will benefit. There will be a brief moment of time in which you can shout "we won", followed by the slow break-up of the UK, increasing poverty, and a likely backlash against government and the law - and you cannot tell me that this will not happen. Those in Scotland who want independence will rush to get it - and who can blame them. Even in Wales now, the talk of independence is increasing. Thy are fed up with how they are treated within the UK. Break one alliance and you will break the other. Then we will see why they should always have been treated as equal partners as one controls much of our power, and the other much of our water. What value Brexit then?

yggdrasil Sat 11-May-19 08:35:54

Day6: Not once for me has leaving been about dislike of people - other than those who call the EU shots in Brussels and some of our politicians!

So what is your reason? Voting Leave won't make any difference to our politicians, and the UK had a great deal of power in 'calling the shots' in Brussels.

(I have a feeling I have asked you this before, and not got an answer.)

Urmstongran Sat 11-May-19 07:55:32

Yes the donor isn’t some shady Russian gangster nor a USA vote manipulating infiltrator! Sorry conspiracy theorist Remainers. Keep digging ....
?

“Financier Jeremy Hosking, 60, who owns a major share of Crystal Palace Football Club, said he has given £200,000 over the past two to three weeks.

Nigel Farage had repeatedly refused to reveal the identity of the businessman who made the vast donation to his new party – originally thought to be £100,000.

But Mr Hosking broke cover yesterday, telling The Telegraph: ‘On a Sunday chat show last weekend it was [claimed] that I have given £100,000 to the recently formed Brexit Party.

‘This is not the case. I have given £200,000, and urge all who wish to see a proper Conservative Party in Britain to support the BP as much as they can. If the Conservatives insist on diluting Brexit, what hope is there on other issues where a robust Conservative position needs to be advocated?”

maryeliza54 Fri 10-May-19 22:26:17

OMG I’ve just been reading up on him - part of my 70th birthday celebrations were at a restaurant he owns - I did not know honest that I was helping to bankroll Vote Leave and now the BP. I promise not to eat there again < goes off to check political affiliations and donations of owner of latest favourite restaurant>

Firecracker123 Fri 10-May-19 22:08:14

Former Conservative backer Jeremy Hosking revealed as £200,000 donor to The Brexit Party after being sick of being taken in by the Conservatives failure to deliver Brexit.

Day6 Fri 10-May-19 18:49:50

Perhaps she was reacting to the near on 'end of life as we know it" levels of hysteria from most naive Remainers, who cannot imagine anything worse than not being tied to the EU forever?

hmm

crystaltipps Fri 10-May-19 18:40:54

Meanwhile the blessed Anne Widdecombe says Brexit won’t be as bad as World War 2- this would be funny if it wasn’t an insult to millions who died in the fight against Fascism.
A great comedy double act.

crystaltipps Fri 10-May-19 18:37:11

I didn’t know QT was supposed to be a comedy. The environment, climate change is sooo boring......

Day6 Fri 10-May-19 18:19:46

Funny how Remainers want to put words into our mouths to suit their narratives of us.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing Urmston. They want leaving the EU to be about a dislike of 'foreigners'. Their words and not nice.

As losers they have to create and then promote conflict. Not once for me has leaving been about dislike of people - other than those who call the EU shots in Brussels and some of our politicians! grin

Remainers have designed and created the "Little Englander" - a stock Remain title for leavers, as we all know. Now they desperately have to make us fit that narrative.

It's quite amusing. They need to get out more.

Urmstongran Fri 10-May-19 18:04:15

To annoy you? He’s not daft. He knows his new party will be under scrutiny. He’s more than likely squeaky clean and annoying the hell out of many .... who are searching ....

Urmstongran Fri 10-May-19 18:02:03

Maybe QT has dumbed down now varian to appeal to the masses - (like me!) but it’s still a bit cerebral, unlike say Strictly.
?

varian Fri 10-May-19 18:00:33

The £499 amounts are because political donations of £500 or more have to be identified (and of course donations from abroad are illegal).

However Farage has refused to disclose the identity of someone who has donated £100,000 and seems to be getting away with that. Why????

Urmstongran Fri 10-May-19 17:57:37

It’s a current affairs programme not a party political broadcast suzied! You know, informative entertainment?
The ‘greens’ will get a turn on another week. Just probably a bit boring....
?

Whitewavemark2 Fri 10-May-19 17:55:36

Evidence mounting up with regard to the funds of a Farage.

As well large unexplained amounts tomdate, there have been Multiple amounts of £499 particularly coming from the USA. I can think of someone who could organise that.
