Baby's on the way.....

Calendargirl Tue 07-May-19 13:00:53

Another name Diana could have used I believe was Princess Charles, which sounds very odd, but I suppose we are accustomed to Princess Michael as a name and title for Prince Michael’s wife.

sarahellenwhitney Tue 07-May-19 12:36:39

Diana was not a princess by birth but as wife of Charles ,Prince of Wales she became Diana Princess of Wales.
On their divorce HRH was removed but not her title Princess of Wales . On her death she kept this title , and until William becomes monarch and Prince of Wales , will keep this title Princess of Wales, which will then go to Catherine wife of William.

Sparklefizz Tue 07-May-19 12:28:57

Sorry Diana was not a princess

Anniebach I thought she was "Diana, Princess of Wales"

Sara65 Tue 07-May-19 12:27:00

That is so true!

Amagran Tue 07-May-19 12:14:09

Grannytotwins - hear, hear.

The bottom line is, they are two human beings celebrating the birth of their first child in their own way. They might as well please themselves, because they will never please everyone, whatever they do. Good luck to them, and every other person celebrating the birth of a new baby.

Anniebach Tue 07-May-19 12:03:46

Sorry Diana was not a princess , if Charles wasn’t Prince of Wales he would still be Prince Charles and Diana would have been a duchess , same as Camilla and Fergie , when Edward inherits the title Duke of Edinburgh Sophie will no longer be a countess but a duchess

Day6 Tue 07-May-19 11:55:20

Doesn't Robbie Williams have a Teddy? (Is it Theodore/Theodora?)

I would steer well clear of names celebs choose for their off-spring, but who knows what Meghan thinks. The Clooneys have an Alex (I think?) so they are unlikely to go down the best buddies route. I imagine the Clooneys have already arranged a play-date for the baby royal and their twins.

Cannot imagine soap star Meghan ever walked in the Hollywood exalted circle of Pitts, Jolies, Damons, Cruises or Clooneys when all she was really known for was Suits, filmed in Canada, where she lived with her dogs.

I wonder when the Clooneys started schmoozing? Soon after whispers of her dating a British prince emerged? All speculation of course.....

Millie22 Tue 07-May-19 11:53:12

I think it's lovely news and Harry looked so happy. Diana was a princess but I think her official title was Diana Princess of Wales.

Bridgeit Tue 07-May-19 11:48:12

How about GRANSNET:-
George, Reginald,Andrew, Norman, Stewart, Neville Edward Trevor ,Windsor.

EllanVannin Tue 07-May-19 11:46:07

Teddy ( after Roosevelt USA ) Albert Edward. A Duke would be appropriate.

Anniebach Tue 07-May-19 11:43:58

Got it. ‘Earle Spencer’ , after the American Jazz trombonist

Day6 Tue 07-May-19 11:42:57

And we all know that most Greys in the UK are Grahams.

I do hope Ragland is not one of his names. It's not the nicest surname, unfortunately.

He might be a Frederick - little Freddie - which is boyish and used in royal circles. I know there is one already. How about Patrick? Also dignified and aristocratic? Hugh? David? Rupert? Laurence? Henry, Charles and/or Philip could crop up, or has William bagged all of those already?

Non-starters? Wayne, Derek, Hayden, Jayden, Kai, Brooklyn, Jackson, Barry, Keanu, Harrison, Darren, Moon-Unit..

I am sure Harry is delighted to have a son.

Pippa22 Tue 07-May-19 11:36:28

One name this new baby will not be called is Thomas after Meghan Markles dad.

Anniebach Tue 07-May-19 11:34:29

Day6 I like it ?

Day6 Tue 07-May-19 11:32:29

Has this one been done yet?

Apparently according to some unknown source hmm or a would-be comedian, Meghan is likely to be a super-trendy Mummy and one of her favourite modern names is Gray.

When her son is given a title he will be Earl Grey. cafe

Pippa22 Tue 07-May-19 11:30:37

I wonder how much her outfit will cost for tomorrow’s press conference? Much more than some other new babies families will have to live on for a year I expect.

Now she doesn’t have to hold the bump will she be hanging on to Harry I wonder or will she now be just casting stage managed loving looks ? Gosh I sound really scathing but the way these two are behaving is making me think this way.

Anniebach Tue 07-May-19 11:30:29

What has been kept quiet ? Compare it with the births of William and Kate’s children.

Kate in maternity wing.

Birth announced

Kate leaves hospital holding baby with William , stands for photographs, gets in car. Silence until name is announced.

grannytotwins Tue 07-May-19 11:21:22

I’m not a Royalist, but I have to say that Harry’s genuine excitement and pride was quite touching. I’m shocked at some of your comments. I’m sure James is a name that he loathes with all the unfounded rumours about James Hewitt. Harry looks more like Charles than William does. It’s not their fault that the media have made such a ridiculous circus of the baby’s birth. No wonder that they wanted to keep some details private.

Anniebach Tue 07-May-19 11:15:23

The man who asked him about the name of the baby and Harry answered using the man’s name ‘Alan’, Harry has a P.R, named Alan

Anniebach Tue 07-May-19 11:12:28

I wasn’t suggesting the gossip was true about Hewitt being the daddy, just choosing James would kick it all off again.

cassandra264 Tue 07-May-19 11:09:39

Agree totally with Sparklefizz about the less than tasteful choice of phrase - but at least Harry very plainly didn't get his speech written for him. I think I might let him off just this once.

But, given the close American connection to 'pop'royalty where stars of stage and screen are concerned. he should know there is only one suitable name for this new baby.

Harrison.smile

evianers Tue 07-May-19 11:04:35

How about Henry Ragland Windsor Mountbatten III?

Sara65 Tue 07-May-19 10:52:26

I love the Royal Family, and Harry has always been one of my favourites, but I’m just not feeling the love at the moment

jaylucy Tue 07-May-19 10:47:40

Oh puleeese! James Hewitt long story, most of which unproven. Anyone can see that Harry is a Spencer and has got his colouring from Diana's side of the family - something conveniently forgotten by the press.
I love James as it was my dads name, but what about Francis? Feminine form one of Diana's middle names and also Harry's other grandmother's name.

Nanny41 Tue 07-May-19 10:36:13

He will be an Earl I believe, name? who knows or cares. At least we wont have to see Megan holding the "bump" any longer, thank goodness.
The photo shoot tomorrow will be well rehearsed.
