Names are coming along at a regular basis, and with May having a meeting with Brady today, it is likely that she will be persuaded to give a date of her departure.

So let’s start looking at who would make the most suitable Tory leader.

The first out of the hat is Boris Johnson.
His first hurdle is facing court to defend the charge of lying before the referendum.

Clearly Dianne and Starmer and Thornberry didn’t get it either!

I mean I get old Dianne didn’t but how do you explain the other 2??

Ha! Love that Anniebach
?
Very witty!

Anniebach Tue 28-May-19 10:19:44

Heard this on radio this morning, Labour Party has largest party membership, add all memberships of all the parties
the RSPB has more members ?

M0nica Tue 28-May-19 10:12:12

To pretend that Islamophobia is as rampant in the Conservative party as anti-semitism is in the Labour party is rather silly. I suspect that there is just as much, if not more Islamophobia in the Labour Party, but with a leader who is so uncritically Islamophilic, it just isn't expresssed very loudly.

I would be much more likely to believe the Labour Party if they were seen to be coming down heavily on those who express anti-semitic opinions by word or deed, instead of just window dressing it with whitewash reports by sycophantic luvvies who are rewarded with peerages.

The ideologically strongly left wing socialist leader of the Labour party nominating people for peerages? shock confused. Now there is hypocrisy for you.

I am another in total agreement with Annie and Mycat.

maddyone Tue 28-May-19 10:08:06

Next Conservative leader, I haven’t a clue. Mickey Mouse?

Anniebach Tue 28-May-19 10:05:58

I am sorry this thread went off track but I had to defend myself , sadly ,’post not poster’ is ignored by a few.

maddyone Tue 28-May-19 10:00:15

I agree with Annie too.
And I agree with Mycat.

Anniebach Tue 28-May-19 09:16:54

Leadsom and McVey, not a hope

Anniebach Tue 28-May-19 08:58:58

Fighting against racism or injustice is never non sensical

Mycatisahacker Tue 28-May-19 08:53:35

And there’s nothing irrational in disliking Corbyn. That’s a completely normal reaction to a very unpleasant man

Grandad1943 Tue 28-May-19 08:52:40

Anniebach, with respect, but your post @ 08:42 today is nothing but a non-sensical rant.

Mycatisahacker Tue 28-May-19 08:52:30

I sgree with Anniebach

Any comments on racism in labour are met with whataboutary.

Grandad1943 Tue 28-May-19 08:45:37

It is on record Anniebach that there is widespread and rampant racism in the form of Islamaphobia within the Tory Party, but you chose to completely ignore that matter.

We just get totally irrational bile against Jeremy Corbyn, and nothing else.

Some moral compass.

Anniebach Tue 28-May-19 08:42:29

Granddad1943. You are confused , a long pub lunch yesterday perhaps?

You condemn the Tory party as Islamophobic as a defence of anti semetism in the Labour Party and say some think I have double standards . I am not and never have been a member of the Tory party. I was a member of the Labour Party for over 50 years, a party which never tolerated racism
but is now accepted by many because of the leader.

I admired the labour MP’s who left the party and said so, I still do, I did not say they were going to change politics, I have said when over these last few years when anti semetism has been discussed and the question ‘why don’t MP’s who feel the same about racism as I do leave the party , the same would happen to them as David Owen and Co.

That I left the Labour Party because of the leader’s support for terrorists and he is a racist and you continue to defend this leader and have no concerns about racism shows how indifferent Corbynites are to it.

You point a finger at racism in one party but accept it in a party you support , that is double standards .

Recently you asked me in a post to apologise for what you claimed was using dead children for political point scoring, yet you remain silent when Corbynites bring Grenfell Towers into a thread on Mrs May . My posts on Aberfan are after an enquiry and my anger that my family and friends were made to pay towards the tip clearance and the Unions kept the man who could have saved those lives in his job,

Never, accuse me of double standards, look to yourself

M0nica Tue 28-May-19 08:42:14

Your criticism of AB I think you are just as judgemental, assuming she is.

GracesGranMK3 Tue 28-May-19 08:19:43

In what way M0nica? If you are going to make enigmatic statement you ought to be prepared to explain them or I will just assume it's another bit of the childish silliness we see on serious threads when people have nothing to say.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 28-May-19 08:09:34

ginny ?

M0nica Tue 28-May-19 07:56:44

Gracesgran The pot calling the kettle black?

Ginny42 Tue 28-May-19 07:55:15

I make it 10 candidates. Javid, Hancock, Hunt, Leadsom, Johnson, McVey, Raab, Stewart, Gove, Malthouse.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 28-May-19 07:48:43

So far 9 have announced their intention of standing for leader.

I see Gove is offering some interesting enticements to encourage the 100000 elderly to vote for him.

One is to pledge free British citizenship to 3 million EU nationals.
And abolishing proof of settled status.

Javid clearly polished his soundbites nice And brightly “must get on and deliver Brexit” he declared. More in hope than expectation. His problem is that he seems to have leaned his delivery at the foot if his mistress and his delivery is very wooden.

Raab fancies his chances in a television debate (15 minutes of fame) forgetting that the debate could well turn into a complete bloodbath, given the level of division in the Tory party.
Hunt and Loathsome is up for it though. Knives fully sharpened.

Grandad1943 Tue 28-May-19 06:59:07

Anniebach, you continually go on about Corbyn and antisemitism in the Labour party, but you fail to criticise the well-proven Islamophobia continuously taking place in the Tory party. In fact, you just ignore it

Some people may think that is double standards.

By the way anniebach, how are that group you stated you resigned your fifty year Labour party membership to support? Now, who were they......oh yes, the Change party, how are they doing?

After all anniebach you and quite a few others on this forum were in raptures and full on praise for that new grouping, it was going to totally transform politics in Britain, but they now seem to have disappeared entirely from the headlines.

After all, it says much about the overall political judgment of people when they wholeheartedly throw their weight behind a group of such diverse politicians as that on the first day of their formation. grin
