Hasn't he been mates (until the bust-up) with Cameron since university?

Names are coming along at a regular basis, and with May having a meeting with Brady today, it is likely that she will be persuaded to give a date of her departure.
So let’s start looking at who would make the most suitable Tory leader.
The first out of the hat is Boris Johnson.
His first hurdle is facing court to defend the charge of lying before the referendum.

Hasn't he been mates (until the bust-up) with Cameron since university?
Doesn't matter to me. All adds interest though.
He said when he was a reporter. Does it matter ?
Of course it's over. Anyway, much more interesting is that Gove has admitted to taking cocaine in the past. Wonder if that was with Cameron and his cohorts.
Of course you did Lemongrove. Your crystal ball doesn't seem to have told you that it may well not be over yet, however.
I doubted that the court case would get anywhere, and so it has proved.
Urmstongran it seems you too have strange relationship with the truth. Whatever the opposition leader promised he hasn't been in a position to carry it out so how can it be a lie?
I wonder how you bring someone up to believe that if they want something to be true it is true regardless of the facts, I know small 'c' conservatives don't do facts but it seems to be more than that. It amazes me the things you feel you "know" that experts don't. How do you "know" that?
As yet the judgment has not been published. I feel politicians should be held to greater account for the accuracy of what the say so wish this man well. What he has received for doing the work he has done seems to be very little and all the spending from the money raised has been published on his website.
Thanks petra for the update.
If the claimant wanted to go after anyone for lyng in public office during an election, he would have been better off going after Corbyn for his announcement, four days before the last general election, that he was going to scrap student debt and make all tuition free.
Everyone with any common sense knew that it couldn't be funded, except the couple of million students who all of a sudden (oh Jeremy Corbyn ! ??). decided to start voting for the freebees that labour were going to give them.
After the election JC admitted that he had no intention of actually doing it.
I'm not surprised, petra - I don't think it had any basis in law.
The young man who started the campaign seems to have lived on the proceeds of the donations by well-meaning contributors.
Nice work if you can think of something like that to fund your lifestyle!
Going off at a tangent here [sorry]. Ginny; I've had a headache for the first time in ages [used to suffer terribly with migraines when I was younger but, post menopause they seem to have gone]. Do you think it's the weather? DD said she had one, also [and DH...]
Your post didn't help my migraine WWM2! Bur you're right and there's a rather disturbing item about people identified as Islamophobic being admitted.

Lots of UKIP types joining the Tories to vote for a hard right leader.
Angst only in that [along with Ledsom's [sp] CV lies etc it's now acceptable to lie about everything [in fact, it's almost obligatory]. And don't tell me that people have always lied. This lot have taken it to a whole new level. Especially when you've got friends in high places...just because the High Court have thrown it out, it still doesn't stop it being a lie [or am I missing something here...?]
Has anyone mentioned that the court case against Boris has been thrown out?
More angst for remainers.
The Best for Britain campaign are asking everyone who wants to stop brexit to write to their MP.
"We must keep the Stop Brexit arguments at the top of MP's minds in these important weeks.
In a few weeks, a tiny group of people who don't represent the country as a whole will have picked our new Prime Minister to take the next steps on Brexit. Here's why influencing every MP right now matters:
Conservative MPs get to pick which candidates go on to party members to vote on. Then they'll have to decide whether to support their new leader. Then all MPs, in every party, will have to decide whether the Prime Minister the Conservatives pick is allowed to take up the position. Then MPs will have the power to decide to hold a referendum, a general election or to cancel Brexit altogether. And then MPs will have a significant say on whether they and their parties co-operate to beat Brexit.
It starts with you, right now. You should make your voice heard before the pieces start moving. This is how we can stop Brexit, but it needs you to take action now."

I do hope everyone will take the time to watch the video
It's only 1 min 30secs, by the way.
Downing Street has said the new prime minister will get to face MPs before they leave for their summer recess, squashing speculation that the parliamentary holiday could start early to minimise the risk of Theresa May’s successor facing an immediate no confidence vote.
Number 10 has also insisted that May will stand down as soon as her successor is chosen, despite an earlier briefing suggesting that she might delay if there were a risk of the person replacing her not being able to command the confidence of the Commons.

I do hope everyone will take the time to watch the video GGMK3.
Yes, it would be tantamount do Dictatorship.
We live in a parliamentary democracy. You can try to lock the gates of parliament. But to do so for this purpose would be unlawful. This plan is unlawful, undemocratic, and unachievable. And the idea itself is profoundly offensive to our liberty constitution and traditions.

I reckon Raab has totally scuppered his chances if god forbid the Tory membership value our democracy. Anyone who is willing to close down debate and parliament in order to win an argument must be unfit to be leader.
Raab!!
Arab intends to prorogue if necessary to get a no deal through.
What price democracy?
infacts.org/brexit-prorogation-coup-can-and-must-be-stopped/
jura2 I watched as Dominic Raabs representative announced this on newsnight last evening, and as a Conservative I was appalled.
I hope that the other MPs feel the same and that he does not make the "final 2"
Unfortunately it is not illegal but would need the support (some might say interference) from the Queen.
So Dominic Raab now says he would be prepared to shut down Parliament to push No Deal through. Oh the irony of it all- so those who said we have to leave to regain control for our own Sovereign Democracy - would be prepared to see Centuries of Parliamentary be destroyed in a kind of dictatorship coup
again, you just can't make it up.
Very impressed with Rory Stewart response. Yes, Rory- it would be undemocratic and illegal, for sure.
