Well I’m not lauding a fascist racists politician anywhere and I dislike that insinuation trisher. If you think there’s hypocrisy, name names, don’t cast wide slurs like that. And as you know, I completely disagree with your analysis of DB- you can’t have heard his whiney snivelling self justification ramblings today. What is wrong with some people? First lemon erroneously equating left wing as automatically backing DB and now you throwing accusations of hypocrisy around. I wish people would just say which posters they were criticising rather than this mealey mouthed approach,

I was pointing out that your examples were not sensible ones and I would expect anyone with sense to understand that items like hard corn porn are not ok to share but items in the main stream media are.

You need to understand the current guidelines on sharing material.

Don’t be worried that someone who knew full well that image was offensive and racist is being castigated.

As for the other person - his views and that of his ilk go some way to explain why casual racism is seen by some as just a joke or a momentary lapse of judgement.

It worries me greatly that on another thread a racist, fascist poltician is being lauded whereas on this thread someone who has made one mistake (which was instantly corrected) is being castigated.

That, in fact, is not what Sir Keir Starmer said anyway, back in 2012.

No-one had to follow the link to the offensive picture and tweet and it was in fact a link to another publication, not reproduced on here.

However, it is right that this person has been sacked by the BBC.

How can anyone "not have a problem with the image being shown" when it's racially abusing a newborn baby? Words fail me. The image and caption go together.

I'm well aware of the point sparklefizz - I was referring to the argument on GN about the reproduction of the image on this site.

The picture of the chimp is not in itself offensive - it's all about context. I have no problem with the image being shown.

I wouldn't have wanted say the photo-shopped picture of Michelle Obama morphing her into an ape, being reproduced here, as that was an outright offensive image and was designed to be so.

DB has compounded the error with his football reference - there's been so much publicity about the racism that black footballers face with bananas being thrown on the pitch and monkey chanting.

My point was that if someone wants to find DB's post, it is easily found but IMHO we shouldn't be circulating it round and making things worse. In doing that, we reiterate the hatred.

If that were a personal comment about oneself, would we want it tweeted and retweeted and reposted globally? No, of course not. All changes begin with a single step. I would not want to be associated with such a cruel, racist post.

When I started this thread, I deliberately chose not to repost the image . It was very easy to find and I thought people should decide for themselves if they wanted to actually see it or not.

Yes Beckett. I am like you, I can't sit back and do nothing.

I didn't want to spend a couple of hours on here arguing over a stupid man like DB whose remark shocked and disgusted me, but for my own integrity I had to stand up for what I thought was right. I am recovering from Bronchitis which has caused a relapse in my longstanding M.E. and really I should have been lying down relaxing, so off to the sofa now to lie down with the cat!!

However it’s mainly politics on both stations and he seems too ignorant to be honest

His explanation doesn’t actually make sense but he was a famous drunk so I am guessing that hasn’t helped.

Possibly LBC or talk as they do have a huge range of both guests and presenters from David Lammy to julia Hartley brewer to Anna Soubery.

However I think he may have overstepped their marks myself.
