mycat hmm hmm and Urmston. Yes I've seen those bar charts deciding Con & Lab belong to one or the other groups and I disagree because we cannot assume that all their votes wanted one or the other.

I think that 'deluded nonsense' is intended to be inflammatory and could describe both sides in some respects. Imo it is a very simple piece of arithmetic to add up all the votes of parties which campaigned only on Brexit and clearly on Remain. Including parties which were not clear doesn't help. As MSM claimed for weeks that this was another referendum we know that the outcome was in favour of staying in the EU. However, as I have previously said, although Remain did better this time that Leave last time, it is too close for comfort.

"Do you think anyone except the most ardent of Remainers are falling for this narrative ? " is rather ironic when many of us think that many leave voters fell for the misinformation and downright lies in 2016. It seems they are, MSM is producing those statistics about which you complain.

"We have to come together eventually and I think the safest and quickest way for that to happen is to honour the ref" How would that work? That would be even more divisive. The only way to make the electorate 'come together' is to show them what the best deal available is and offer them the chance to find out whether said deal is better than what we already have and let them decide which they want.

"it’s sooooo boring move on get over it I have just move on" may I suggest that if you are bored you find something constructive to do? hmm hmm

Elvive Tue 28-May-19 13:08:08

Move on to what though?

Mycatisahacker Tue 28-May-19 10:27:31

Oh move on please!!!!! Just move on!!!!! Lies on all sides it’s sooooo boring move on get over it I have just move on

MaizieD Tue 28-May-19 09:28:19

The word 'honour' does not sit easily with a result obtained by illegality and cheating.

Mycatisahacker Tue 28-May-19 09:04:12

Not fear!! Belief

Mycatisahacker Tue 28-May-19 09:03:41

Yes agree urmstongran I think people are just as divided and far more entrenched.

As I have said I voted remain but voted Brexit on Thursday because my fear is Brexit should he delivered to honour the ref result.

It just seems right to me that both manifesto promises should be upheld and not thwarted because belief in democracy and politicians is so very important to stop people abandoning democracy and going far left/far right.

We have to come together eventually and I think the safest and quickest way for that to happen is to honour the ref

All this ‘Remain won the European elections’ is deluded nonsense. All the elections did was show that there is still an almost even split in the country.

Bar charts shared on social media which exclude Conservative votes from the Leave are pure propaganda and do not mean Remain won.

Do you think anyone except the most ardent of Remainers are falling for this narrative ? Another referendum with Farage in full flow, be careful what you wish for.

My post was thanks to John Crace, with bits added!?

“The crack team of U.K. negotiators ....are taking a chance to chill out and celebrate their success ...before they demand the right to negotiate.

Tice, Farage, Widdicombe Fox And Rees-Mogg along with 24 other MEPs demand the right to be heard and take part in the negotiations

“Monsieur Barnier” they will say “ we demand that we will leave on the 31 October on WTO terms!!”

“Ah” says Barnier ever the gentleman “If that is what you want, be out guest”

“But you don’t understand, We are here to negotiate a no deal Brexit. So we INSIST on taking part in the negotiations!!!”

Barnier then very gently explains something that none of them have not quite grasped

“The point of a no deal, is, that it doesn’t require a negotiation”

The crack team get very annoyed because their little bit of fame seems to be slipping away from them before they’ve even started.

“We don’t care, We are a crack team of negotiators. We insist on negotiating not having a negotiation”

My thoughts too, Elvive.

Elvive Sun 26-May-19 20:48:31

Oh no, is somebody telling a wee story?

Drum1234 Sun 26-May-19 20:44:19

Donations to political parties are not tax deductible.

Baggs Sun 26-May-19 20:32:58

I found this an interesting ten minute talk by David Goodhart on R4 democracy and populism.

GabriellaG54 Sun 26-May-19 20:24:03

It was a good game. I practised my forehand and backhand. winkgrin

GabriellaG54 Sun 26-May-19 15:16:13

Whitewavemark2 Sun 26-May-19 12:30:56

Didn’t think so.

MawBroonsback Sun 26-May-19 12:28:16

Not a lot!

Whitewavemark2 Sun 26-May-19 12:27:19

maw what’s the difference between a tax dodge and money laundering?

Mycatisahacker Sun 26-May-19 11:56:58

Far right and far left are equally frightening.

I find momentum equally frightening

GabriellaG54 Sun 26-May-19 11:28:32

Que sera sera...???

crystaltipps Sun 26-May-19 11:24:28

I’m not sure who is in a “cage” but no doubt anti intellectual, no time for experts, nationalist extremists would like to put any opposition into one. Yes, populism and fascism are frightening to anyone with half a brain, and should be challenged.

Nonnie Sun 26-May-19 11:08:00

EU is not 'perfectly' anything but that is not a reason to leave it. Why is everyone 'against' things and no one promoting what is good and what we will lose?

MaizieD Sun 26-May-19 11:04:08

Remainers seem to spend an disproportionate amount of time talking about Brexiteers in general and NF in particular.

Well, it makes a refreshing change from arguing the toss about whether the the EU is an Evil Empire or a perfectly benign institution.

MawBroonsback Sun 26-May-19 11:03:09

Sounds like a tax dodge GG
