Well Newcastle got him today but police in Edinburgh asked McDonald's not to sell milkshakes whilst he was there. What do you think? Is he fair game? Is it OK to target right wing politicians? Or should milkshakes be banned?

I don't agree with the threats to harm or the throwing of eggs or milkshake. Politicians of all stripes lie.

We should not support violent or threatening actions OR words whether online rape/ death threats, spouting about picking up a rifle, being jostled and abused by thugs or having a milkshake thrown at you. It shouldn’t be - oh well, words are ok, a milkshake isn’t, just because you support the one whose at the receiving end. Some on here are selective in what aggressive acts they support/ condemn.

WW titter ye not grin

lemongrove Mon 20-May-19 22:32:55

No volte face from me at all, if anyone had thrown something at Soubrey I would have said the same as I have on throwing things at Corbyn and Farage.
Most on GN have said the same. You haven’t....until now.

Oh dear I must stop - but Nigel Fromage is sitting in his vest and pants waiting for Banks to pay his cleaning bill.

maryeliza54 Mon 20-May-19 22:29:11

lemon it’s you that’s bring silly - the JC incident was played down and minimalised as anyone with any awareness knows - and I’m not alone on this thread in thinking that. I was talking about MSM treatment of it btw. As for my own views, I basically wanted to call out the hypocrisy that surrounds issues like this. However unlike you my views on the need to protect MPs of all colours were clearly expressed on the AS thread and I didn’t have a volte-face as you did depending on my views of the politician involved. So I think there should not be physical attacks or physical intimidation and nor should there be the hypocrisy we see in the media about how such behaviour is reported and the weight given to it.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 20-May-19 22:26:26

Mind you I had to titter at his new nickname

Nigel Fromage ???

Some people are so witty

Mycatisahacker Mon 20-May-19 22:22:38

Yes I agree with Brendon cox too.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 20-May-19 22:14:03

I agree with Brendon Cox

“ I dislike Farage politics profoundly. His willingness to pander to hatred and division even more so. But I don’t think throwing stuff at politicians is a good idea. It normalises violence and intimidation and we should consistently stand against it”

lemongrove Mon 20-May-19 22:10:41

Don’t be so silly Marye you have no idea if it was ‘played down’ after all, when something is on the news you can’t control how social media runs with it.
Interesting though.....you have not once said on this thread that you disagree with thrown milkshakes ( or eggs or anything else)
If they are aimed at somebody you dislike, whereas most of GN say they think it very wrong to throw things at any
Politician or celeb.
So, where do you stand on this?

Mycatisahacker Mon 20-May-19 22:09:46

Good grief Maryeliza grin

maryeliza54 Mon 20-May-19 22:00:21

mycat I think you are one of my favourite posters.

maryeliza54 Mon 20-May-19 21:58:30

Well lemon they damn well played that incident down but you’d never admit to that would you? But milk shakes - oh my ???

Mycatisahacker Mon 20-May-19 21:52:59

Or perhaps playing these incidents down is the better option to stop copy cat attacks. Not sure really

Mycatisahacker Mon 20-May-19 21:51:24

I heard about the incident but only saw’it for the first time tonight and it looked really violent.,

Jeremy vine should be ashamed of himself.

My only observation is these idiots do crave the limelight so let’s give it to them by immediately jailing anyone attacking an MP and for at least a month!

Thst might nip this trend in the bud.

You May br right it was played down as I watch the news and didn’t see it until tonight.,

lemongrove Mon 20-May-19 21:48:47

The media don’t play anything down where Corbyn is concerned btw.

lemongrove Mon 20-May-19 21:47:30

Carry on Marye why should I worry about what you write, since you post such angry stuff to just about everyone.
You are a stranger on social media not my bestie.

maryeliza54 Mon 20-May-19 21:42:52

mycat the point I was making was that the MSM just really played down the JC incident because it was JC. That should worry all of us. Bloody Jeremy Vine on his stupid C5 programme even did a whole ‘jokey’ item on it where he had an egg broken on his head and asked if the police didn’t have better things to do than arrest egg throwers. The hypocrisy is breathtaking but now of course I know on GN everyone will be very even handed when politicians are threatened or attacked so that’s all right then.

maryeliza54 Mon 20-May-19 21:35:43

lemon didn’t like being called out did you?

Mycatisahacker Mon 20-May-19 21:22:12

Oh they have just shown the Corbyn egg incident and it wasn’t thrown it was bashed against his head and looked painful And frightening.

Mycatisahacker Mon 20-May-19 21:20:02

lemongrove

Grandparent brain I have it too grin

GabriellaG54

Do they i haven’t noticed. I hate bleaters grin

Anyway I brought the milkshakes and later we all had far more expensive cocktails because I love them and I love treating them and drinking cocktails! grin

We do monthly food bank drops and support dogs trust wink

Hope that’s virtue signalling enough

lemongrove Mon 20-May-19 21:12:39

Thanks Ilovecheese I missed that, grandparenting takes it’s toll sometimes. It was quite right the man was prosecuted
And paid the price.

MawBroonsback Mon 20-May-19 21:12:37

after all, these threads always bleat on about excessive spending and helping less fortunate families

Do they really?
I hadn’t noticed hmm.

GabriellaG54 Mon 20-May-19 21:08:58

£9 on two drinks?
That's a bit excessive. What about a plain carton of milk each and give the other £7.50 to help people in poverty or homeless after all, these threads always bleat on about excessive spending and helping less fortunate families.

Mycatisahacker Mon 20-May-19 20:59:37

Ah yes ok I do remember the egg incident but didn’t realise Corbyn was injured or was it the violent language?

Good glad the bloke is in jail serve him right.
