Remainers keep asking for a Confirmatory vote well in my opinion this is it. All voters have one Vote use it today to vote Leave or Remain at your polling station.

Official results on Sunday night but feel free to do a GN vote here as well if so inclined.

Vladimir Putin backs Brexit and warns second referendum would 'undermine faith in Democracy'

Putin has long been accused of approving a campaign of propaganda to undermine faith in Western democracy

What a load of scaremongering rubbish......

maddyone Fri 24-May-19 09:28:30

Will Putin be pleased with Brexit voters, why?

varian Fri 24-May-19 08:51:23

Mr Putin will be pleased with all the brexit voters

Just realised this morning that yesterday was the first time in my life that I had not voted Conservative.
Mrs May has totally destroyed my belief in democracy.
I voted Brexit.....

There were two people taking exit polls at my polling station yesterday. The first stopped me and asked how I had voted - I explained that I never tell anyone how I vote. He smiled thanked me for my time and moved on to the next person.

A little further on I was stopped by another person (from a different party). I told him the same - his reaction was completely different, whilst I would not say aggressive it was certainly insistent. He said that as he wasn't asking for my name and address my vote would still be confidential and as I had already voted it would make no difference if I told him! I said it was none of his business and walked away.

Whilst I appreciate different parties like to take these exit polls this is the first time I have experienced such insistence

Re EU voters in the UK:

The SNP’s Joanna Cherry yesterday raised the issue at Prime Minister’s Questions

Over the last few days I’ve received distressed emails from a number of constituents who are EU citizens living in the UK but who won’t be able to vote tomorrow,” she said to Theresa May

Their predicament arises because of the Prime Minister’s government’s late decision to participate in the elections which didn’t give many EU citizens enough time to fill out the necessary form declaring that they won’t be voting elsewhere. She asked May if she would use “all the powers” of her office to ensure the form is made available at polling stations today The Prime Minister said that the Government takes every step to allow people to vote and went on to blame the House for the late participation in the election because they failed to ratify her Brexit deal .

jura; still waiting for that reply...#couldbealongwait

What a coincidence ...people who would most likely vote for a remain party cant vote ! Westminsters minions up to their dirty tricks AGAIN .

maddyone Thu 23-May-19 22:23:26

Primark

maddyone Thu 23-May-19 22:20:02

‘Primary do a nice line in brown shirts.....’

Nasty comment!

crystaltipps Thu 23-May-19 22:18:32

Is that a good thing? Well, it is if you are a far right extremist I guess.

Urmstongran Thu 23-May-19 22:12:01

We used our postal ballots to vote for the Brexit Party a few days ago as we knew we’d be over here in Malaga on polling day.

Just heard that Mr Macron’s europhile Renaissance faces being beaten into second place by Marine Le Pen’s National Rally!

phoenix Thu 23-May-19 22:03:24

I know of 2 people (not myself) who went to their polling station and wrote "Are you having a laugh?" ( or similar) across their ballot papers.

Witzend Thu 23-May-19 21:54:27

Exactly, GGMK3 - so a good many people are not treating it as a normal MEP election, but as a means of registering their feelings re Brexit or Remain.

I suspect that the turnout will be rather greater than usual for MEP elections, where turnout is usually pretty dismal. As for opinion polls, they've been embarrassingly way out more than once - embarrassing for the pollsters, I mean.

We went at 5 (ish) and had to wait for a booth. We were told that there was a good turn out and the second box was almost full.

Welshwife Thu 23-May-19 21:05:49

As Brits living in another EU country we elected to vote here despite receiving our voting papers from the U.K. - you are honour bound to only vote in one country.
There are specific rules for people living in another EU country to the one which issues their passport. The U.K. only allows you to vote for 15 years after migrating and that is for referendums and General elections - you are not allowed to vote in local elections. In France we are allowed to vote in Municipal elections and the EU referendums - not Presidential elections or for MPs.
So the EU citizens living in U.K. who were turned away and told to vote in their own country were being told wrong information by an official who was ignorant of the rules.

jura2 Thu 23-May-19 20:27:13

Did someone reply Labaik - when are the WTO elections?

Surely Leave voters will not wish to be ruled by unelected bureaucrats from Geneva, have tariffs and quotas set by those same unelected bureaucrats - and be at the beck and call of 164 countries, with NO say. Would they?

jura2 Thu 23-May-19 20:25:34

Like all those British expats living in France and Spain, etc, who voted Leave sad
and now bitterly complain they are going to be affected sad

Labaik Thu 23-May-19 20:14:32

We did LibDem/Green. I thought my Green vote might be a mistake but was prepared to take a gamble. Irritated today by a long time forum [not this one] 'friend' who I've always liked and got on with very well saying he's getting an Irish passport; I'm pretty sure he's a leave voter. Shouldn't be allowed [imo].

LadyGracie Thu 23-May-19 20:07:52

Democracy went out of the window nearly 3 years ago whichever way you voted.

dizzyblonde Thu 23-May-19 20:03:54

The whole family voted Lib Dem in the hope of keeping the Brexit party out. Fingers crossed.

jura2 Thu 23-May-19 20:01:23

varian - as I previously said, perhaps the most 'expensive' thing will be the brain and skills drain. Already we know that EU doctors, nurse, researchers, plumbers, builders, etc, etc - are not coming any longer, are actually leaving. But if we get a No Deal Brexit- I predict that it will be our own home bred of all the above who will desert the country- seeking much better and open opportunities elsewhere, in the EU and out.

GabriellaG54 Thu 23-May-19 19:56:23

Sounds like something out of Hotel California.
'You can check out any time you want but you can never leave'. grin

phoenix Thu 23-May-19 19:52:12

Farage promises something that he cannot deliver, the UK cannot just "walk away" from the EU, despite what people might think.
