Here you are.

All Corbyn critics etc can now have a thread all to yourselves.

Callistemon Mon 05-Aug-19 17:47:28

I bet Corbyn thanks his lucky stars it wasn't he who called the referendum Grandad!

It was, of course, Labour party policy for years and he is (was) a staunch Eurosceptic.

But of course, the reason he did not call a referendum was because he was never PM (and never likely to be).

I read something interesting recently; apparently Keir Starmer is annoying some people by taking charge at meetings. I wondered which people and did think 'well, someone has to'.

Anniebach Mon 05-Aug-19 17:34:37

Corbyn hasn’t done a thing since he became leader, except shout at a reporter ‘stop harassing me’ and hiding behind a glass door and do the camera act ‘I feel your pain’ .

jura2 Mon 05-Aug-19 17:33:10

We all know that Grandad- but it is Corbyn who allowed them to get away with it all - which will probably lead to No Deal and all the that will come with it. But you are still prepare to allow us to be thrown out into a disastrous No Deal - so your Corbyn can come out of the ashes in a GE.
(he won't btw)

Grandad xx

Grandad1943 Mon 05-Aug-19 17:17:36

It was not Corbyn that called the divisive referendum.

It was not Corbyn that triggered article fifty without even looking at what Britain had signed up to by way of its membership of the EU.

It was not Corbyn who demanded of the EU negotiators terms that could not be granted purely on the basis of the treaties that Britain played a leading part in formulating.

It was not Corbyn that did not even think on the situation of Britain leaving the EU would bring about in Northern Ireland.

It was not Corbyn that did not envisage the situation that Britain leaving the EU could create at the channel ports.

It is not Corbyn that is now spending six billion pounds on preparing Britain Britain for a "no-deal" Brexit that was never mentioned even as a possibility by leavers during the referendum campaign.

It was not Corbyn who stated on the day that article fifty was signed that "these will be the easiest negotiation ever concluded"

The above and much more has been stated and carried out by this useless Tory government under the direction of its neo-fascist ERG members.

And that is the truth of the situation.

Fennel Mon 05-Aug-19 17:08:38

Annie I thought you were a lady wink.

Anniebach Mon 05-Aug-19 16:46:50

If Corbyn had campaigned against leave instead of buggering off on holiday . If Corbyn had got his backside off the fence and done what official opposition parties do, fight the government things could be so different.

But dodged and dived whilst waiting for his puppet masters to tell him what to say and do.

He must have more splinters up his arse from sitting on his fence than I hsve in the drum of my desk pencil sharpener.

It would seem that several on this thread continually use the words/names of Corbyn and Momentum with obsessional frequency and to the disregard of all else

However, it is not that person or that group of persons that has brought Britain into the worst political and now constitutional crisis that has come about in more than seventy years.

The accolade for that above action lays with this shambles on a Tory government and no other body whatsoever. Within the Tory Party, we see the ERG group that has uncompromisingly dominated this government with its extream hard-right policies that has done more than any other actions to bring the United Kindom to the division and impasse it faces now.

All Momentum and trade union members have been democratically elected to all the positions they may hold and within the current rules of the Labour movement. There is also the fact that the Labour Party are not the party of Government at this time of great crisis. Therefore, that party has played no part in bringing forward the huge divisions and critical situation we all face now.

However, the so-called European Research Group (ERG) within the Tory party have caused immeasurable damage to the Conservative Party and all that reside in this country. No one elected the persons within that group to hold such a position of total dominance that has affected all the residents of this country.

It is not Momentum or the Labour Party that has taken Britain through the debacle of the Brexit negotiations, or the parliamentary and constitutional crisis our nation now finds itself in. As stated, that has undoubtedly been brought about by the Tories and within them the ERG group.

The balloted actions of Momentum within the Labour party pale into insignificance when viewed against the destruction the ERG has wrought in the Tory party and this country.

Of course many in this thread would not wish to post on that through their totally blinkered views.

John Smith, Blair and Brown knew to win an election they had to reach across the country.

Corbynites think they can win an election with their membership numbers.

growstuff Mon 05-Aug-19 14:39:09

I didn't rate Blair at the end (after he began to look haunted), but he did what he had to do to get three Labour governments and, despite his flaws, he did leave behind some positive things (which the Conservatives are relentlessly destroying). The UK will never vote for a government which is perceived as left-wing, so Labour needs to attract the centre (or at least left of centre). The Conservatives have, on the whole, appealed to enough people to get re-elected. They're losing it now because more people are recognising that they've been affected by austerity, so Labour needs to act smart and get voted in. They won't, as things stand.

Grany Mon 05-Aug-19 14:00:02

Thanks growstuff one of my favourite songs Ive often played this Ha.

Been called Corbynista just love Labour's polices now under Corbyn, so I became a member like a lot of people, didn't rate Blair much get rich quick politition. He was very in with Murdock the press baron.

Anniebach Mon 05-Aug-19 13:44:41

Listening to the Corbynites, the Labour Party has only been in existence since 2015. So wrong, the Labour Party died in 2015.

jura2 Mon 05-Aug-19 13:40:30

brilliant song - thanks (oh, and so am I - some relatives think I am so left extremely left wing- and some of my friends think I am almost right wing - whatever that means. Yes, I do try to look at things from all sides- and yes, it does come from my very mixed family and upbringing. Good.)

growstuff Mon 05-Aug-19 13:35:42

Well, I'm confused. I've been called a Commie on here, yet I really don't rate Corbyn highly (and especially not Momentum).

So am I right-wing, left-wing or what?

I can't help thinking of the lyrics to this song:

POGS Mon 05-Aug-19 13:25:36

I believe he did have ' personal' problems in his marriage and resigned as Shadow Chancellor in 2011 but it was not until the 2017 General Election he ' stood down'.

He remarried in 2016 and I think Corbyn / Momentum might have had an influence in his decision not to stand again but maybe he just felt it was time to think of himself first, I don't blame him.

Yes, he was another good Labour politician who is missed and I use to like seeing him with Micheal Portillo on This Week as both were always fair and didn't particularly play Tribal Politics but spoke about an issue as they found at that time.

Of course the Corbynistas will dislike the man because he was too vocal for them and refer to him as a Tory light/Blairite so he would have been probably on the hit list anyway.

Anniebach Mon 05-Aug-19 13:07:48

Alan Johnson experienced a life so different to Corbyn.

Corbyn talks poverty and being underprivileged,Johnson lived it.

jura2 Mon 05-Aug-19 12:56:15

Grany 'Well people who don't agree with Corbyn Labour are usually right wing.'

nonsense, truly.

Fennel Mon 05-Aug-19 12:52:57

Alan Johnson is much missed. I think he had personal problems which helped to take him out of active politics.
He was our local MP for a while.
After boundary reform.

Anniebach Mon 05-Aug-19 11:45:41

Don’t know about Alan Johnson ?

Corbyn is a leader who doesn’t want to be PM

This is a windup

Iam64 Mon 05-Aug-19 11:31:21

Edit button
To dismiss Alan Johnson as someone with a book to promote says more about the poster than it ever could about a man like Alan Johnson

Iam64 Mon 05-Aug-19 11:29:44

Oh I will, think what I want that is, Grany.

Yes, I’ve seen Corbyn speak a number of times. I saw him at four Hustings during the leadership campaign after Ed Miliband resigned. I didnt rate Liz Kendal, she was the weaker candidate. Corbyn spoke well and was the most popular speaker. I didn’t believe he would be a Leader who could take the majority of voters with him. Nothing since then has done anything to persuade me otherwise.
We need a Labour government, we won’t get one until Corbyn is replaced by someone the majority trust.

Grany Mon 05-Aug-19 11:08:54

Well people who don't agree with Corbyn Labour are usually right wing. Jeremy Corbyn is a leader and does want to be PM. Have you seen the applause after speaking at rallies He is very much wanted by the many who voted him in overwhelmingly
Don't know about Alan Johnson hasn't got my interest, got a book to promote. Anyway think what you want.

Anniebach Mon 05-Aug-19 10:55:09

I listened to Alan Johnson Iam , unbelievable he will be called ‘right wing’ by Corbynites

Iam64 Mon 05-Aug-19 10:52:17

I’ve been listening to Alan Johnson interviewed about his latest book. He doesn’t believe Corbyn is a leader, or ever wanted to be one. He describes him as a puppet whose strings are being manipulated. That description is one I’ve heard from a number of loyal Labour people who are close to the leaders group and shar AJ’s concerns.
Johnson also despairs that the greates abuse levelled at anyone who expresses concerns about his leadership , is the term Blairite.
It’s a given in this country that split, conflicted parties don’t win elections

Anniebach Mon 05-Aug-19 10:43:52

Grany difficult for you to accept but not everyone who is against Corbyn are right wing.
