Nah. A politician’s sex life is of no interest to me.

Tory Leadership race
(428 Posts)As far as I can see not one of the contenders has a clear plan with regard to Brexit.
Without a plan we can’t move on.
Something to ask Johnson when he finally faces the press.

“How many times have you been to court to try to keep the existence of your own children secret?” A suggestion for questions people might want to ask sour potential future Prime Ministers.
I think Boris was just sick to the back teeth of the CBI (gloom buckets) always banging on about ‘certainty’ and dire predictions. It was meant (I took it to be this) ‘look there’s more to this than ‘just’ business. And he’s right.
You mean the sort of business that Boris Johnson was talking about when he said f**k business?
Lord Sugar is publicly backing Boris.
I think big business is anti Corbyn as much as pro Boris!
*Grandad1943, Yes, he was interviewed on R4 this morning. I hadn't heard of him before but he sounded a thoughtful and principled man and made a case that was difficult to oppose.
Perhaps like the new lsbour MP for Peterborough, he was careless ?
As can be seen in the following Guardian report the chairman of the Conservative Muslim Forum has stated he will resign his thirty five year membership of Tory Party if Boris Johnson becomes leader and Prime Minister.
The Guardian artical begins here:-
The chairman of the Conservative Muslim Forum has drawn a comparison between Adolf Hitler and Boris Johnson, saying “many horrible people have been popular” and that he would quit the Tory party if the former foreign secretary was elected leader.
Mohammed Amin, a longtime party member, called the Tory leadership frontrunner a “buffoon” and criticised how he “mocked Muslim women who wear niqab and burka for his own purposes”.
“I am not prepared to be a member of a party that chooses him as its leader,” he told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme. “I would resign after 36 years.”
Asked about Johnson’s popularity with party members, Amin said: “There are many horrible people who have been popular. Popularity is not the test. The test is: is this person sufficiently moral to be prime minister, and I believe he fails that test.”
Comparing Johnson’s popularity to that of the Nazi dictator, he added: “A lot of Germans thought that Hitler was the right man for them.”
Told that that was a shocking comparison, Amin replied: “Yes. I am not saying Boris Johnson wants to send people to the gas chamber, clearly he doesn’t. He’s a buffoon. But he, as far as I’m concerned, has insufficient concern about the nature of truth for me to ever be a member of a party that he leads.”
Amin continued: “We don’t expect our politicians, our prime ministers, to be saints. But we do require a basic level of morality and integrity. And of all the candidates in the Conservative party leadership election, Boris Johnson is the only one that I believe fails that test.”
The two-term mayor of London put Muslim women at risk last August when he compared women who wore burkas to “letterboxes and bank robbers”, Amin claimed.
“He knew exactly what effect it would have – it would lead to Muslim women who wear niqab and burka being verbally abused on the streets; in certain cases being physically assaulted, with people trying to tear it off.

Of course, the Tory Party Executive will not even setup an in internal inquiry into the numerous allegations and proven cases of Islamophobia in the party, so little hope of the above getting any attention.
Anyway, better get back to work and leave those who wish to discuss the above.
Always dangerous to discuss politics and religion but .......The pound has dropped more now than in 19 years and is forecast to drop 5% if Boris is elected. That says a lot ! His main concern is to make rich people richer and a no deal Brexit to open the door to Trump ( his BF) who’s priority is to MAGA with our money - by selling us more whirlpool dryers, dodgy Boeing aircraft or toxic food or buying huge chunks of NHS and forcing health insurance on us. So Boris ? No. Gove is embarrassing sorry to say. Hunt got too rich when health minister and I can’t figure out how on his salary. Sajid seems fairly honest and that would be a good start but are we ready for him ? But really what a shower. As for Farage well he’s just hell bent on getting rich quick and what are the Russians paying him for ? I think Brexit is an economic disaster but we will only know that when it’s too late to do anything. Meanwhile plant veg !
Boris has now just confirmed he will take part in the televised debate on the BBC.
Now Rory Stewart has performed a screeching u-turn today, saying he would be prepared to serve Boris Johnson if he becomes Prime Minister .... hours after threatening to set up a rebel Parliament against him!
I can’t keep up.
Cabinet posts are prestigious and well paid.
I can understand the temptation.
?
Which is why I do so admire those who resign from them, like Raab and Davis. And Boris.
There is a suggestion that the other candidates might a.. lick rather than call Johnson out.
What a farce it all is!
Well Matt Hancock has dropped out saying he knows he cannot win.
And the normally calm Hunt was sounding a bit frantic on Today.....seems to be unsure if Boris will find a place for him.
The real fun comes when the new Cabinet is selected!
From twitter
magine you are a Tory MP
You WILL know Johnson is
Lazy
Racist
Solipsistic
Incompetent
Untrustworthy
A nasty piece of work
Highly dangerous like his friend Trump to democracy, the rule of law, decency in public life
And yet you vote for him...
How do you live with yourself?
Peter Brookes' cartoon in today's Times reminds us that Boris Johnson was a disaster as Foreign Secretary.

You could be right.
monica well he lied about the £350m for the NHS so he probably just makes the figures up.

Jacob Rees-Mogg defends Boris Johnson insulting Muslim women because "politicians musn't be bland and boring and dull. They must say things that cut through to voters".
Fine, but politicians also must not be Islamophobic. What an utter disgrace.
Watching McVey, I fully expect her to become the next PM.
She is scarily clueless and totally vacant.
Listening to Javid this morning and his appalling treatment by his government, I would bet my boots that he stands a cat in hells chance if getting the leadership.
What I can’t understand is how integrity seems to have disappeared from British politics. If the polls are correct our next prime minister is a lying, philandering, self-serving turn-coat. What does this tell us about the state of the country?
Absolutely agree, many of the no-hopers are there to try and ensure they get ministerial jobs in the inevitable reshuffle.
Tax cuts for the wealthy, a no deal Brexit and deregulation all in the last few days. Those standing in this race will promise anything to the Shire Tories to get their hands on that contacts file that comes with the job Prime Minister.
Having contacts like that sets those having held that position up for the rest of lives.
That's why so many in the Tory Party have joined this race, its self-interest not public interest that prevails first in them, as usual.
Typical Tory.
crystal tipps, many thanks for referring to Flashman as Doris. Made me lol xx
