Please not Jo Swindon , she seems to be constantly in a state
of hysteria and she shouts

Urmstongran Mon 22-Jul-19 18:36:56

GE required.

BJ needs to do this otherwise he wont have the numbers.

Anyone see LD marrying up with Labour for an alliance? Me neither.

Watch the split of the remain vote. Whilst Tories and the Brexit Party go forth.

Jo just doesnt have the charisma to rally the support to make them outright Remainers.

As a fellow Scot paddyanne can I just point out that not everything is an English conspiracy against Scotland and your sometimes hysterical insertion of anti English propaganda at every opportunity, whether relevant or not, gets tiresome. I am delighted Jo Swinson got the job and will now provide effective opposition to Brexit in the HoC.

and her throne!!!

varian Mon 22-Jul-19 17:37:58

Brilliant speech by Jo Swinson who will lead the fight against populism, nationalism and brexit.

BlueBelle Mon 22-Jul-19 17:27:04

Blimey

Jabberwok Mon 22-Jul-19 17:16:20

Oh honestly paddyann!!! Elizabeth 1st, Mary Stuart,!!!!!, Perhaps if M.S hadn't upset her Scottish subjects to the point where they forced her abdication in favour of her year old son, she wouldn't have run to England to continue her plotting to overthrow the Queen and thus kept her head and her life!!

kittylester Mon 22-Jul-19 17:10:48

I think she might not be there long if the threatened 'alliance' of disgruntled mps comes to fruition.

paddyann Mon 22-Jul-19 17:05:15

she is a total waste of space, voted for cuts to disability benefits ,for the bedroom tax in fact every awful tory policy in the past few years Swinson has said yes please .East Dunbartonshire friends of mine say she's never there ..only when theres a camera present and to top it all she WANTED a statue of Maggie Thatcher erected in Scotland.......the most hated woman in the history of Scotland apart from Elizabeth of England who chopped off Mary Stewarts head ..that says it all .

Very good speech from Jo Swinson and great to see two people in the same party not at one another's throats.

GracesGranMK3 Mon 22-Jul-19 11:02:42

That certainly feels better than in fighting Varian

Anniebach Mon 22-Jul-19 10:09:45

Definitely, way better than Johnson and Corbyn

Shoequeen53 Mon 22-Jul-19 10:05:29

Either of them gets my vote. Both of them are way better than the Labour and Conservative leadership.

The result of the LibDem leadership election is due to be announced this afternoon.

The signs are that it will be a close result but all the party members I've spoken to will be happy to support the new leader- whoever he or she is.

GracesGranMK3 Mon 22-Jul-19 09:14:11

Me too Iam. I would find it hard to choose between them. The one thing I notice about the Lib Dems is that, with such a clear message on the EU, they can talk about the state of the nation.

I've liked Jo Swinson and Ed Davey when I've heard them interviewed recently.

Libdem leadership candidates Jo Swinson and Ed Davey were grilled by Jo Coburn and two political journalists on BBC2 tonight at 7pm.

Both were brilliant - head and shoulders above the dreadful Boris Johnson and the appalling Jeremy Corbyn.

Jane10 Tue 16-Jul-19 20:43:37

Whoever they choose as leader they'd better be excellent! They're sure to win many more seats in a general election.

winterwhite Tue 16-Jul-19 20:42:48

Swinson not Swindon. She is only one of two candidates. And yes, not good to say someone is a hypocrite and not explain why when it’s queried.

varian Tue 16-Jul-19 20:08:23

If you are interested in the contest for the leadership, watch this broadcast where the two candidates are grilled by Conservative supporting Iain Dale and members of the public on LBC.

Even Farage looked very embarrassed !

jura2 Thu 04-Jul-19 16:49:48

Annie 'every time she speaks I want to say ‘calm down and take a deep breath'

just listened to Ann Widecombe's speech - wow, that squeaky, utterly hysterical voice, shouting agitatingly, and comparing us in the EU to slaves (I mean, how insulting, insensitive and cruel can that be to those from slave stocks sad ) ... Jo Swindon sound very very calm and composed, I'd say.

jura2 Mon 01-Jul-19 17:40:44

so do I- and no surprising she gets 'in a state' at times, as we find ourselves if a dire and impossible, dangerous, situation. Anger and passion is very apt imho.

Waiting for an explanation on the 'hypocrisy' comment, please.

mcem Mon 01-Jul-19 17:38:18

I like her (irrelevant though my opinion is!)

jura2 Mon 01-Jul-19 15:22:15

Hypocrite - how, when?
