Leaked e-mails and Farage as replacement?

Well he was sacked wasn’t he but the whole thing was a tad murky.

Urmstongran Mon 08-Jul-19 12:37:12

It definitely is worrying that someone has leaked this. But will they find the person responsible?

It wasn’t that long ago that a leak from a Cabinet meeting was reported. The money was on Gavin Williamson (defence minister at the time) being the mole. But nothing came of it. That I know of.

I agree suzie these leaks are becoming all to common.

Johno Mon 08-Jul-19 12:27:43

Farage is a plant. He is doing what the Establishment want of him. He ill be in the House of LOrds within 3 years.

suziewoozie Mon 08-Jul-19 12:22:45

But whatever- it’s wrong that there was a leak. That’s what worries me.

I don't know about conspiracy theory, but the sinister hand of Vladimir seems to appear in all kinds of strange places these days. Nothing would surprise me. Third columnists, anyone?

trisher Mon 08-Jul-19 12:14:56

EllanVannin I might go to see that. grin
I just don't want to have to live with it!

EllanVannin Mon 08-Jul-19 11:30:33

There should be a re-make of The Three Stooges-----starring, Farage, Johnson and Trump. It even sounds like a comedy act.

lemongrove Mon 08-Jul-19 11:26:58

Another daft conspiracy theory.

MaizieD Mon 08-Jul-19 11:24:44

P.S This might come as a surprise to many but I am deeply conservative (note. small 'c' conservative) when it comes to the institutions of State. Change may be needed but it needs to be incremental, carefully thought out and considered. Whipping up glowstick waving hysteria is not the way to do it...

trisher Mon 08-Jul-19 11:18:05

Urmstongran that's a new one! Still why not! grin

MaizieD Mon 08-Jul-19 11:16:46

Whatever you might think, Ug it's not just an isolated 'conspiracy', it's part of a relentless campaign, deliberate or not I don't really know, of undermining the institutions of the state. Judges as 'enemies of the people', MPs demonised for putting country before party and acting in what they think to be the best interests of the country, civil servants accused of obstructing Brexit because they are 'Remainers'... You may be totally in agreement with all these things but if you destroy the current institutions, built and developed over hundreds of years what do you put in their place.

This quote from A Man for All Seasons comes forcibly to my mind:

Start

"Roper: So now you'd give the Devil benefit of law!
More: Yes. What would you do? Cut a great road through the law to get after the Devil?
Roper: I'd cut down every law in England to do that!
More: Oh? And when the last law was down, and the Devil turned round on you — where would you hide, Roper, the laws all being flat? This country's planted thick with laws from coast to coast — man's laws, not God's — and if you cut them down — and you're just the man to do it — d'you really think you could stand upright in the winds that would blow then? Yes, I'd give the Devil benefit of law, for my own safety's sake."
End

I really think that people should think very carefully before applauding the demagogues who undermine current institutions and call for radical change, to the extent of sweeping them away or changing them to make them instruments of power and control (that's actually fascism).

As I said, revolutions (and it would be revolution) are not pretty things.

Urmstongran Mon 08-Jul-19 10:58:28

I think it’s more of a Remainer plot to sour relations between us and the USA post Brexit!

We can all have conspiracy theories about this story.

Loose your civil service and you loose the machine that keeps the country running and civilised.

MaizieD Mon 08-Jul-19 10:55:04

The undermining of the Civil Service is a great worry. The UK's state institutions may not be perfect but they do the job and keep the state running on a fairly even keel. Whipping up people to lose trust in them is all very well and very satisfying for the ringleaders but if you demolish them what happens next? Revolution? I've studied revolutions and they are not pretty.

suziewoozie Mon 08-Jul-19 10:36:47

Even Boris Johnson wouldn’t be so flipping daft. But the serious issue is the leaking - awful.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 08-Jul-19 10:35:57

Nothing would surprise me trish

trisher Mon 08-Jul-19 10:22:21

The leaked e-mails from the British Ambassador criticising Trump have hit the headlines. There is some speculation that this is a put-up job and the aim is to get Nigel as the next Ambassador. Personally I can't think of anything more disastrous, or many people less suitable. No doubt him and Trump would be best mates but should that be the position of a British Ambassador? And can you think of anyone worse than Farage?
