Is this the face of fascism?

This from an American Ambassador

Farage said that anyone in UK civil service or military who doesn’t believe in Brexit should be removed. My jaw dropped. This is outrageous. It is fascistic to apply a single issue to determine “loyalty” as if we were in a war of religion. Shame on him.

Malorie Blackman said she has heard more racist comments since Brexit than she did in the previous 30 because "people feel they can say whatever they want".

The former children's laureate and best-selling author of the Noughts and Crosses series said she sometimes feels like she has woken up in the 1970s, because attitudes have gone so backwards.

She dated this change back to the referendum, and told the Sunday Times Magazine: "I've heard more racist comments in the past three years than I've had in the last 30. There's now more open hostility; it's like people feel they can say whatever they want. I've had people deliberately barging into me while shopping — stuff I haven't had to put up with for years."

What a terrible indictment of Brexit Britain!!!

There are two MEPs called Alexandra Phillips.

The one who the Brexit Broadcasting Corporation keep inviting on to Question Time and other political discussion programmes is, of course the former Cambridge Analytica employee who now represents the Brexit Party.

The other Alexandra Phillips represents the Green Party so you may not see her being constantly promoted by the BBC.

MaizieD Quote[And how many votes did Farage get in the BP leadership contest?

Well, I suppose he got 100% support from the sole BP member. Himself ] End Quote

Yes, the formation of the Brexit Party follows the exact same pattern as the formation of the National Socialist Party in Germany in the 1920s.

So it's now Fascist Farage and his "no say" Brown Shirt followers. Although, I must say I have difficulty in picturing Ann Widdecombe in a Brown Shirt uniform. grin

'Brexit Party MEP Alexandra Phillips has admitted she secretly worked for Cambridge Analytica on its controversial 2017 election campaign in Kenya.
Ms Phillips – a prominent member of Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party and former Head of Media for Ukip – made the admission to Channel 4 News after initially strenuously denying any involvement with the disgraced data firm, and pressurising journalists to drop the story.
She backtracked only after Channel 4 News obtained a recording of an interview from 2017 in which she confirms she had been employed by Cambridge Analytica to work for Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta.
In a statement released to Channel 4 News last night, Ms Phillips admitted working for SCL, Cambridge Analytica’s parent company, on President Kenyatta’s successful re-election campaign.'...this is probably on the wrong thread but I'm in a hurry.....

Whitewavemark2 Wed 17-Jul-19 07:21:03

Farage was complaining that Leyen was the only candidate in the vote.

Remind me — how many candidates were there for the BP leadership?

Whitewavemark2 Tue 16-Jul-19 20:11:35

Vote Leave has lost its appeal. The Electoral Commision ruled it must pay its expenses as well as a hefty fine which tells us the vote was illegitimate.

What do you say about that Farage?

varian Tue 16-Jul-19 20:00:40

That's democracy!

Whitewavemark2 Tue 16-Jul-19 19:59:29

Oh the irony!

Farage on the vote for Leyen. “It is hardly legitimate, she only just scrapped in”

She got 52% of the vote ???????

Lessismore Tue 16-Jul-19 19:42:06

Nee nar?

Whitewavemark2 Tue 16-Jul-19 19:27:00

Well you didn’t know anything about the money, the U.K. and Eu day

Day6 Tue 16-Jul-19 19:24:20

I get my information from experienced trade negotiators. Where do you get yours from, Day6

Oh I do toooooo Maisie <eyeroll>

And of course your trade negotiators know better than mine.

Nee nar,

Please, stop the assumption that people who do not agree with you don't have knowledge and sources. I shan't reveal names, and neither will you, but thanks to one committee I sit on, I know many business CEOs who do not fear Brexit the way you do. What is most important in their world is that we just get on with it, so that businesses can make plans and deals. The present limbo we are in is destructive.

Reporter saying that Trump is using the racist card as he did last time before he was elected. Then he identified the Mexicans and succeeded now he’s trying to identify the Democratic Party with the black population, pre- 2020. If Americans are willing to vote for this why on earth would we want to have a special relationship?

varian Tue 16-Jul-19 19:15:19

If brexit is not stopped we will be subservient to Trump and to the EU and to rest of the world who have been laughing at us ever since the fraudulent referendum of 2016.

Day6 Tue 16-Jul-19 19:12:41

This will all change if Brexit is not stopped and our sycophantic PM has to bow to the will of the Orange One in the White House

Oh for goodness sakes...!!!

Never heard of diplomacy?

Brexit does not mean we automatically veer away from Brussels and into Trumps bed. We will still be doing business with France, Latvia and...well any number of EU member states once we are out of the EU shackles.

Every head of country, every Prime Minister, will be keeping the USA onside, whether they are part of the EU or not.

Our next PM and the ones that follow will ensure that we have a decent working relationship with the USA. Why wouldn't we? Just because Trump is President now, he will be a distant memory (nightmare?) when our GC are fully grown.

And as for sucking up...

What utter rot! There is a massive wall of business men and their computers and telephones and personal representatives/sales people and marketeers who will never get anywhere near the White House and Trump or the Presidents who follow him, whether Republican or Democrat.

Our PM has to suck up? Do you really think thousands of businesses and their staff are going to have to go through Trump? Really?

Trump is going to rubber stamp every deal done (no matter how minor) with the USA???

Please...... <sigh> hmm

varian Tue 16-Jul-19 18:56:21

Up till now we have had a close, but not subservient ,relationship with the USA.

This will all change if Brexit is not stopped and our sycophantic PM has to bow to the will of the Orange One in the White House.

crystaltipps Tue 16-Jul-19 18:53:12

Why do people assume we want any US president to dictate to us? ( i.e. if we don't want Trump we must by default support Obama- don’t know where the logic is in that)

Whitewavemark2 Tue 16-Jul-19 18:33:25

True iam but what a lovely man he is.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 16-Jul-19 18:31:05

The world respected Obama.

No one respects Trump

Callistemon Tue 16-Jul-19 18:30:29

^ How very dare she!^
grin

varian Tue 16-Jul-19 18:29:04

We should have listened to President Obama who was a true friend of the UK.

Iam64 Tue 16-Jul-19 18:27:53

True Whitewave. However, admiring Obama as Potus doesn’t equate to wanting him running the U.K. as day 6 suggests (I know, we agree on this, also I suspect that if Obama did make a suggestion, our pm would consider carefully. Unlike with Trump, who says he told Theresa May what to do and she ignored him. How very dare she!

Callistemon Tue 16-Jul-19 18:27:17

Well, we know what Obama advised us to do!! Otherwise we would be at the 'back of the queue' for trade talks.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 16-Jul-19 17:39:18

Obama was/is a gentleman of a high order. Trump isn’t fit to kiss his boots.

GillT57 Tue 16-Jul-19 17:29:16

No Day6. The EU net contribution ( 2017 figures) is £8.1bn.
