Please, anybody tell me. I just don't get it at all.

disclaimer.....I am not a Marxist.

Callistemon Wed 24-Jul-19 16:58:10

dragonfly he could be given a seat in the House of Lords, perish the thought, but don't mention that to anyone.
I wouldn't want anyone to get any ideas

JenniferEccles Wed 24-Jul-19 16:55:40

Yes I’m not sure how it would work. Also once we have left what would he call his party?

Lessismore Wed 24-Jul-19 16:24:02

Apparently not, because Trump likes him.

dragonfly46 Wed 24-Jul-19 16:23:21

Doesn't Farage need a seat in parliament first?

Lessismore Wed 24-Jul-19 16:23:15

Where is NF constituency? What are the policies of his party?

JenniferEccles Wed 24-Jul-19 16:18:39

Farage was interviewed on the Jeremy Vine show yesterday and he said he would be prepared to do a deal with Boris if there is a general election. If Boris fails to get us out on Oct 31st the Brexit party would mop up so many furious leave voters from all parties and could sweep the board. I imagine Boris is aware of that.

lemongrove Wed 24-Jul-19 16:12:43

maddyone grin good for you, ??we are all here to give our own opinions, in fact, what other opinions should we hold.

Charleygirl5 Wed 24-Jul-19 16:05:50

My personal opinion is he will be out of the door of no.10 by the end of September. My crystal ball is not working- I do not know if it is because of a general election or other means.

Alexa Wed 24-Jul-19 15:44:53

There's nothing wrong with having a lot of cheek and plenty of money.

Firecracker123 Wed 24-Jul-19 15:41:36

JenniferEccles agree if we can't have Nigel our only hope is Boris.
If it does come to a General election who knows The Brexit Party might sweep the board.

LadyGracie Wed 24-Jul-19 15:18:21

maddyone I agree with you 100%.

We are all allowed an opinion, even on Gransnet.

JenniferEccles Wed 24-Jul-19 14:43:00

The only person I would trust to get us out of the EU is Nigel Farage but as that is not an option then we must just hope Boris delivers

growstuff Wed 24-Jul-19 13:55:20

I don't need your consent to hold an opinion, maddyone, so why do you feel the need to be so patronising?

maddyone Wed 24-Jul-19 13:46:56

If you like growstuff, I’ll just carry on with my opinion and you can carry on with yours.

growstuff Wed 24-Jul-19 12:11:58

Maddyone, so you've swallowed the rhetoric the media and megawealthy (who are the only ones who stand to gain from Brexit) would have you to believe?
There is no logical reason why he should be better than May, who had an impossible task. Was the Chelsea manager after Jose Mourinho better than Mourinho just because he "had to be better"? Strangely enough, they've all been worse.

GrandmaJan Wed 24-Jul-19 10:05:45

maddyone you took the words right out of my mouth. Actually aren’t the lyrics to a song? grin My daughter has met Boris in a professional capacity when she ran her own business. She was introducing him to an audience of business executives. She said when he was backstage as she was introducing him she could see him ruffle up his hair because that’s the Boris everyone expects. So let’s give him a chance, he has to be better than his predecessor.

henetha Wed 24-Jul-19 10:02:29

I'm not a fan of Boris at all, he seems like a man who's never grown up properly. But let's give him a chance. Maybe he will be better than we think. And at least politics will be more fun now.

maddyone Wed 24-Jul-19 09:56:22

David Cameron need not hang his head in shame, he finally gave the people what they wanted, to be asked their opinions on whether or not we should be part of the EU.
Theresa May has been useless in my opinion, she failed to take us out of the EU because she didn’t want to take us out of the EU. That’s why she agreed to a deal that stitched us up. Tony Blair promised a referendum but refused to give us one, I think he was the greatest liar we ever had as a PM ( and that is leaving aside the lies he told Parliament and us about Iraq.) John Major signed us up to the Massstricht Treaty without even asking us what we wanted, other countries had referendum about this (leaving aside that they kept on repeating the referendum until they got the right answer.)

So I like Boris Johnson, he needs to be given a chance.

Ginny

I’m with you I’m afraid, couldn’t watch last nights news, and have just turned off the Today program.

I agree also about David Cameron, he should be hanging his head in shame, I wasn’t a huge Theresa fan, but the poor woman had everything against her, I shall never forget how she was hounded by her own party, and I will never vote Tory again.

suziewoozie Wed 24-Jul-19 08:27:45

Yes Ginny it’s a day for listening to music

Ginny42 Wed 24-Jul-19 08:17:07

News blackout in this house I'm afraid. I can't stand all the back-slapping nonsense and his smarmy grin.

If TM was the worst PM Ladygrace, where would you place Cameron, the instigator of all this upset and distress. I think history may be kinder to TM. We'll see.

LadyGracie Wed 24-Jul-19 08:05:38

I’ve always liked him. Let’s at least give him a chance, he shouldn’t just be written off!

Who’s to say what sort of PM he’ll make?

No one could be worse than Theresa May!

Sara65 Wed 24-Jul-19 07:11:19

I just can’t take him seriously, and the couple of programs I’ve seen about him over the last few weeks, haven’t endeared me to him at all, quite the opposite.

At work yesterday, when all our phones started pinging announcing the news, the atmosphere was very somber, we’re aged between 28 and 65 and everyone felt the same, worried for the future

maddyone Tue 23-Jul-19 23:39:11

Good post as usual Day6.

lemongrove Tue 23-Jul-19 21:49:20

Fennel.... you are right, the proof of the pudding is in the eating, we may need to revisit this topic in six months time.
I don’t like the man ( not that liking a PM actually matters)
But...if he can sort out the deadlock in Parliament and get this country moving on from leaving the EU then that will certainly be something.
