Isn’t it time you stopped talking about project fear and instead concentrated on how to actually prevent drug shortage happening?

Using such silly catch phrases stops people actually thinking about the reality of our situation.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 30-Jul-19 09:31:19

Project fear has been about medicines not reaching the UK through the ports / airports.

They aren’t being blockaded, that is ridiculous, if there is a no deal there is no trade agreement in place on 1 November - simples.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 30-Jul-19 09:19:01

WWMK2 I rely on drugs to stay alive as do many on GN. The EU has a charter which states it is illegal/unethical to "blockade" medicines to any country whether they be in the EU or outside.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 30-Jul-19 09:18:25

Ok ug perhaps you will outline what leaving on WTO terms means.

Just a little paragraph will do. Just describe what will happen in November - shouldn’t be too difficult.

MaizieD I am not defending anything, just pointing out that Airport Currency rates have always been appalling and always will be.

Better rates are available on line, in High Street Banks and the Post Office.

Urmstongran Tue 30-Jul-19 09:16:24

And you Remainers can’t bear to say ‘Leaving on WTO terms’ can you?

It has to be ‘crashing out’ ....
?

Whitewavemark2 Tue 30-Jul-19 09:15:55

I didn’t gg13

The point being that THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED.

Brexit is entirely to blame, and we will see much more if this. It is no good trying to prove the facts wrong, you simply can’t.

What is happening is what was always warned, but you and all leavers smiled knowingly and based in no evidence whatsoever, said it would never happen.

Now you are finding out what living in cloud cuckoo land and ignoring expert opinion means.

Perhaps you would now like to smile knowingly when drug shortage is discussed? Or food is rotting at ports?

MaizieD Tue 30-Jul-19 09:11:49

Here come the Defenders, folks!

Nothing to do with Brexit or our appalling PM's declared intention to crash us out of the EU.

I expect the crashing pound is all the fault of the glumbuckets who just refuse to believe.

Urmstongran Tue 30-Jul-19 09:09:26

I’m not panicking. The markets will settle. This turbulence reflects uncertainty.

In 2009 we got 99 cents for £1 at our hotel reception and we survived to tell the tale!

GrannyGravy13 Tue 30-Jul-19 09:06:43

This is the exchange rate at the Post Office this morning.

If you bought currency at Gatwick WWMK2 you were ripped off.

Although it has never been a good idea to purchase currency at any airport.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 30-Jul-19 08:59:46

ug when was the last time Gatwick was offering those rates?

Urmstongran Tue 30-Jul-19 08:58:07

Airports always give the worst rates - they’re for people who need a bit of immediate cash so the airports cream off a bit of profit.

The exchange rate here on the Costa del Sol is still at €1.10

Leave voting pensioner Brits who live in Europe must be thrilled at the way their pension is rapidly losing value. Now they can show how plucky Brits can overcome any adversity to defeat the evil EU.

I feel desperately sorry for those who voted Remain.

Iam64 Tue 30-Jul-19 08:39:59

Apologies for printing out loud there. It's grim isn't it, we're heading for economic downturn as predicted when the vote went Leave.

Iam64 Tue 30-Jul-19 08:38:52

Should we buy euros now for last September ?

Whitewavemark2 Tue 30-Jul-19 08:11:07

Exactly!!

growstuff Tue 30-Jul-19 08:09:18

It's not dire if you're a currency broker and had the foresight to invest in dollars or euros!! ;-)

Whitewavemark2 Tue 30-Jul-19 07:59:49

This morning at Gatwick.

The pound is at parity with the dollar. This has NEVER happened in its history.

The pound is worth now about 87p against the euro.

The implication for the economy is dire.
