The family firm.

Photos of Princess Charlotte's first day at school with her brother Prince George, show us how well their mother, Catherine, has fitted into The Firm.
Delightfully normal and without any pretentious, she and her husband simply get on with life, neither courting nor studiously avoiding the publicity that goes with the job.
She looks wonderful in the pictures taken by the DM and the family is a fitting continuation of our monarchy.

Exactly we’ll said GrannyGravy13

Amagran Tue 10-Sept-19 14:39:36

Good post Bridgeit.

Extending paddyann's logic, most of us are likely to be overprivileged degenerates in the eyes of millions of Britons, not to mention in the eyes of people from poorer countries around the world.

I think there are many more deserving targets for our rage about inequality than the Royal Family.

Bridgeit Tue 10-Sept-19 14:39:20

Sad to say, if your wish came true, there would Still be Poverty, there would Still be inequality,
I would STILL be seeing the clips on TV of starving children around the world which WE all Watch on Our TVs!
One can only take a cue from the Bible , ( The Widows Mite)
Roughly interpreted as She gave everything she had , hers was the greatest gift,I doubt you ,me or those with much much more would give away everything we have. So why not be positive about any and all good deeds that people do, no matter who or what there circumstances.

Anniebach Tue 10-Sept-19 14:37:54

True GrannyGravy. But who would then take the blame for
the ills in the country

GrannyGravy13 Tue 10-Sept-19 14:34:48

Getting "rid" of the Royal Family will not solve the problems of the poorest in society.

It may even make things worse, having a Royal as a Charity Patron brings in donations.

Anniebach Tue 10-Sept-19 14:33:34

paddyanne didn’t mind accepting a commision to photograph those she calls degenerates .

pinkquartz Tue 10-Sept-19 14:28:35

It is time for change.
The entire planet is going through all kinds of turmoil and we do not need a RF.
They symbolize oppression of the masses and we do not want this much inequality anymore, do we?
Do we want starving kids and homeless at one extreme and the untouchable royals at the other?
Their blood is not blue, God did not choose them. They are ordinary people with too much money.
Prince Andrew definitely looks like he needs taking down a few pegs. Some manual work for a few months and set to live in a 2 up 2 down terrace and not much food might make him a bit more human. Not forever just long enough to see how the other half lives.

I would respect that Queenie did her job well but that must be the end of it.
Everyone else should work.

Bridgeit Tue 10-Sept-19 14:20:37

Equality is a myth, by virtue of posting on this site , from a computer whilst sat in my small but weather proof home, with food to eat I am living like a Queen, King, compared to those without a home, clean water, sanitation, safety etc etc.
So if those who have what others don’t, but endeavour to do something towards helping others , then let us all be thankful for that who ever they may be.
Paddyann Can you provide the source of your comment attributed to the Queen.

Anniebach Tue 10-Sept-19 14:04:23

GrannyGravy you don’t understand, they have wealth which protects them from loving their children, grief, feeling
empathy.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 10-Sept-19 13:53:27

I am a Royalist, they are still human, they have feelings, they bleed, they row, they are Royal through birth or marriage.

We are all who we are by birth or marriage.

I think calling the whole family degenerates, and calling into doubt whether they should exist is extremely low.

Anniebach Tue 10-Sept-19 13:49:20

No problem for me Paddyanne

I live in a beautiful part of Wales, many holiday homes, I never did want to set fire to them, or have them taken off the owners.

paddyann Tue 10-Sept-19 13:22:13

How is it possible to justify the RF with your "socialist" ideals I wonder .As the wondeful picture of Lizzie on the throne was captioned."Woman in multi million pound crown tells her "subjects they need to tighten their belts " Its a disgrace that this overprivileged bunch of degenerates is still allowed to exist .

trisher Tue 10-Sept-19 12:47:16

Poor children underfed and existing in B&B with no place to play and no hope of any housing . She could have said "NO!"

Anniebach Tue 10-Sept-19 12:29:21

The thought of being told when 10 years old - when your father dies you will be queen, poor child.

trisher Tue 10-Sept-19 11:00:36

Well there you are Annie it's not a job for life. So they are paid more for a short time. They can't pretend they can still do the job when they are 93. They make way for someone else. Unlike some who won't be pensioned off. If we have to have a monarchy let's have fixed term monarchs and get rid of this whole concept of it somehow being linked to God. It isn't and they aren't.

Anniebach Tue 10-Sept-19 10:52:37

Physically attacked ? Shot, kidnapped, their children in danger ? They are footballers until they die ? Never seen a 93 year old playing football.

trisher, a suggestion for a political thread , abolish the monarchy?

trisher Tue 10-Sept-19 10:41:50

Footballers are attacked regularly Anniebach on and off the pitch.

Anniebach Tue 10-Sept-19 10:22:24

The Queen is head of the commonwealth, leaders of the commonwealth have elected Charles as the next head of the
Commonwealth. Would they have elected a president?

No, they respect the monarchy because respect works both ways.n

Anniebach Tue 10-Sept-19 10:18:34

merlot if people want to camp on pavements it’s their choice. How is this slavish devotion ?

And are footballers at risk of being attacked as the Windsors are ?

merlotgran Tue 10-Sept-19 10:13:49

There is nothing wrong with supporting an institution like the monarchy while criticising some aspects - like hypocrisy.

It doesn't mean you have become a republican.

Calendargirl Tue 10-Sept-19 10:12:30

Trump? Macron? I bet their wives clothes budget could probably rival Kate’s. And Jackie Kennedy was not noted for her frugality.

merlotgran Tue 10-Sept-19 10:11:59

Oh come off it, Annie. I'm not talking about posters on here but those who camp on pavements in cold weather or travel miles just to get a glimpse of a car speeding past.

This thread has wandered off track like a lot of them do. My comments have nothing to do with Charlotte's first day at school.

I certainly don't do, 'bile and hatred!'

Anniebach Tue 10-Sept-19 10:05:21

I agree Maddy I have asked those who want rid of the Windsors to name who they would support for President.

merlot slavish devotion? Rubbish .

Jabberwok Tue 10-Sept-19 10:04:44

Totally agree with you maddyone. Unfortunately we now seem to live in a country devoid of any decency from top to toe, so I guess one little four-year old girl on her way to school is almost bound to be a target for bile and actual hatred solely because of the family she was born into, something none of us can help! It's a very sad reflection on the nation we've become!

merlotgran Tue 10-Sept-19 09:58:10

I agree with most of what you say, maddyone but footballers, pop singers, TV presenters etc., etc., pay for their own security and house renovations. They do earn obscene amounts of money but they don't have it handed to them on a plate for doing very little.

I'm not anti-monarchy but I can see the point of those who criticise them and I really can't understand the slavish devotion of some people in the 21st century.

They need to change if they're going to survive.
