So much that would have been not open to scrutiny if parliament was still not allowed to sit.

I think I understand the Attorney General Geoffrey Cox now. Whenever he gives advice the truth is always the opposite.

He told The Queen prorogation was lawful. It wasn’t.

He’s just said the Commons is ‘dead’, but in truth he’s angry because it’s alive...and kicking!

I have been in the kitchen, with the PC still on in the study with a faint version of the sound of the HoC. I couldn't hear the words, just the tone of Cox's voice. My impression was of rhetoric, pitched to rouse the rabble and intimidate opposition - more Joseph Beltrami than Rumpole.

As you say, the very opposite of Lady Hale's calm delivery, even when reminding a speaker for the third time to keep to the point of the enquiry and not veer off into the past treayment of NI.

Well many of us were metaphorically or literally red with anger too at this blatant attempted manipulation of Parliament.
I may admire some people’s gift of rhetoric, but Cox’s “greatest showman ” act is just that - an act. I have seen too many smart arse barristers like him and I saw Baroness Hale yesterday - andwho inspired more respect?

But Rumpole hasn't actually answered any of the questions already put to him, has he?

I thought poor Barry Sheerman was about to give himself a heart attack, hw as so red in the face and so wound up.

Barry Sheerman (Lab and Co-op) is not usually exactly my cup of tea but I applauded every syllable he uttered.

Parliament simply won’t play Johnson’s game, why should they?

Their absolutely top priority is to stop no deal. Their focus is on the national interest and it’s economy.

Rumpole quite rightly says ‘this is a DEAD Parliament and they SHOULD have the courage to face the electorate. But they won’t.’
