Am I the only one who is sick and tired of Brexit. I am not into politics or wanting a debate. I just want things to get back to normal

Labaik Mon 21-Oct-19 17:20:51

I still wonder how your friends/neighbours in Malaga feel about Brexit Urmstongran [apologies if I missed your reply about it...]. I believe there was a protest march there the other week.

Urmstongran Mon 21-Oct-19 17:09:41

Incidentally I never tire of telling people my views on such an important subject

I bet you don’t Nonnie !

grandtanteJE65 Mon 21-Oct-19 17:09:32

I am sorry for aprilrose and others who are abused for their point of view, but may I ask, why do you put up with it?

If anyone, however dear to me, dared to tell me that I was thick I would tell them where to get off!

On principle I never tell people how I vote, why should I`? It's supposed to be a secret ballot and not telling others how you vote saves a lot of trouble.

It is not unreasonable to ask people to disagree in a polite and mature fashion. Until we do, I don't think there is any likelihood of things getting better.

Nonnie Mon 21-Oct-19 17:05:56

aprilrose Mon 21-Oct-19 15:21:40 but some of us haven't seen your other posts. As you clearly have strong views it would be a courtesy to those of us still listening and waiting to be convinced to see them. Thank you.

Incidentally I never tire of telling people my views on such an important subject. Seems a bit pointless coming onto a thread if you are not prepared to share your views.

It's all so predictable and boring.
'*What is?* ' you might say.
This argy-bargy, sour, nasty and frankly, low behaviour from some GN posters, mainly from one side.
It's rather sickening to think that 'old ladies', as one poster referred to us on GN, would talk, write or think in such a manner.
It really beggars belief.
I can't envisage any friends of mine engaging in such crass behaviour.
It's unseemly, to say the least.

grapefruitpip Mon 21-Oct-19 16:04:57

it's weird isn't it....when somebody asks another why they voted to leave, they reply that they have already said it and won't repeat.

I came up with 3 or 4 bullet points as to why I had misgivings about leaving but nobody responded.

Labaik Mon 21-Oct-19 16:04:13

smile

suziewoozie Mon 21-Oct-19 16:01:13

Bullying? Or in GN speak - disagreeing

Labaik Mon 21-Oct-19 16:00:49

Oh no, not the 'b' word argument....

Dottynan Mon 21-Oct-19 15:56:10

Good for you Aprilrose for not standing for the bullying

aprilrose Mon 21-Oct-19 15:47:07

I never tire of reading it

So you have read my reasons before. Then go back, find the post and read it again if it gives you so much pleasure. Lets save some bandwidth on here.

Labaik Mon 21-Oct-19 15:34:30

aprilrose; please reconsider. I am more than happy to hear your reasoning for voting leave; I never tire of reading it and some people may have missed it.

aprilrose Mon 21-Oct-19 15:21:40

I have responded long and hard on several threads before this. I am simply not willing to do it again. Its unnecessary. It never apparently satisfies the questionners because they constantly come back. I see no reason in going over old ground.

Nonnie Mon 21-Oct-19 15:16:18

Oh April please don't do the leaver thing of creating a 'reason' not to respond. It happens all the time and does your cause no good at all.

aprilrose Mon 21-Oct-19 15:12:30

Aprilrose Goodness you are cross, aren't you? I wonder if you were always so furious about being in the EU

???? I am question marking you because I think you have truly got hold of the wrong end of the stick. Thats my fault. I wrote that post immediately after I had "words" with my husband.
Yes, I was cross with him. I was cross because of the way he spoke to me.

As to the rest of your post, it does not deserve any response.

Paperbackwriter Mon 21-Oct-19 15:07:19

Aprilrose Goodness you are cross, aren't you? I wonder if you were always so furious about being in the EU. Have you spent every year since 1976 absolutely hating life here? It must have been awfully wearing for you.
I have yet to hear a single Brexit voter able to communicate just what they think will improve in their life if we leave the EU.
As for not getting your husband's dinner - Can't he cook for himself?

Anthea1948 Mon 21-Oct-19 15:03:37

Whatever side of the fence we're on, I think most of us would quite like the issue to be resolved (obviously to each of our individual satisfaction!).

Arto1s Mon 21-Oct-19 14:50:46

Mcrc I too live in the US, and wholeheartedly agree with your post.

EthelJ Mon 21-Oct-19 14:33:52

I dont know any remainers who say we should should just leave on 31 October even without a deal. And as said previously our leaving will not be the end of it. The let's get Brexit done slogan is nonsense and Johnson and Co know that it is

EthelJ Mon 21-Oct-19 14:30:15

I agree I don't think we will get back to normal for a very, very long time. Even if we leave soon there will be years of negotiating trade deals. The withdrawal Bill was meant to be the relatively simple part of the process.

Nonnie Mon 21-Oct-19 13:57:05

Lancslass1 Mon 21-Oct-19 13:42:54 I don't think that is true. I don't know any remainer who has said that, I think it is only politicians saying we have. However, I have seen many videos of leavers who have changed their minds and now want to remain.

mcem Mon 21-Oct-19 13:52:57

Lancslass - "whatever happens"!
Totally unacceptable and irresponsible comment! Inflict chaos on your own family if you so choose but not on mine!
Sums up the attitude of a whole lot of brexit voters unfortunately.

mcem Mon 21-Oct-19 13:49:23

Good post tinydancer.
What is the point in getting a rushed deal asap if the deal hasn't even been properly scrutinised and if nothing is published about the economic implications?
Surely we have all learned lessons about voting in ignorance of the facts.
I have to point out that in response to my questions, aprilrose (OP) very frankly spelled out her own reasons for voting to leave. I don't agree with her vote but appreciate the fact that her reasons are very personal and immediate and that she took the trouble to explain that without fobbing me off or coming out with the usual meaningless standard brexit replies.

Lancslass1 Mon 21-Oct-19 13:42:54

Let’s go on the 31st whatever happens.
Even Remainers are saying that.
I blame Cameron for starting it and for the other Parties for being so awkward..
What I can’t understand is that apparently it is the people in the Labour held seats who voted forBrexit so why does the Labour Party want another vote?

How many more times.?
The people have voted.
The majority want to leave

lilydily9 Mon 21-Oct-19 13:31:26

What irritates me the most is that other important issues such as crime, the nhs and social care have all had to take second place to Brexit. For heaven' sake, just get the deal done!
