ayse if "compromise" means agreeing to policies which will harm the poorest and weakest in society (as the Liberals did in coalition) No thank you. I'd rather have more elections and short lived governments.
ALPHABETICAL FOOD AND DRINK (Jan 26)
Corbyn seems hell bent on annoying the voters. Now he has said he wants to nationalise Liverpool Football Club. Where does he get he bonkers ideas from? How would this benefit our UK? So on top of alienating people who want to leave their money to their offspring, btl landlords, shareholders of Royal Mail and Utility companies, people with gardens, people who earn over £40k per annum and leave voters now he turns on football fans. He wants to target Manchester clubs too. Where are the Labour moderates?
He is very low on popularity in polls and now seems determined to nosedive further.

Very few of us are winners at the moment!
Oh, in answer to OP, I suspect we will have a hung parliament again so IMO parties will need to compromise whoever ‘wins’.
The voting system needs to be changed to reflect the broad spectrum of views held by the public. Against LP policy, I would like a PR system where politicians would have to learn the art of compromise.
Yggdrasil - the u tube video with JC was rather interesting. Learning how he felt about the Vietnam war, anti-racism etc. Additionally, his justifications for re-nationalisation of what were public services, privatised by Thatcher struck a cord.
Blair’s government moved the Labour Party away from its traditional roots to help it gain more ‘middle class’ support to win 3 elections. The party then was not interested in a more equal society.
Personally, I’m pleased the Labour Party has returned to more socialist style policies. In no way is JC a Marxist as he believes in change via the ballot box (evolution not revolution). BTW the same can be said for Tony Benn.
The Labour Party is currently in the business of recruiting members of the younger generation using social media rather than the traditional press.
I’d like to remind everyone that it was Labour who introduced the NHS, put in place social policies for everyone, known as social welfare.
I would like to see less homeless people on the street, more social housing, better education for all and better care for the elderly. I’d rather pay more tax and have more social care for everybody.
IMO, gransnet used to be far less combative where vastly differing views on our society could be discussed without all the current unpleasantness.
Perhaps I’d better ? now.
The student debt thing has been discussed so many times. They remain toxic most won't be repaid anyway and they will eventually cost more than grants would have. As for music. Yes yes yes! Why should rich kids be the only ones to learn it? Would you say the same for literacy? Perhaps poor kids only deserve a practical education? - Mr Gradgrind!!
Very well explained andvwell said trisher
"The Labour Party with Blair as leader won 3 consecutive general elections,"
But that was NEW Labour, aka torylite. He supported Thatchers policies and even abolished Clause 4. Not the Real Labour Party as we have now
Can’t see Corbyn as head of an organisation, he would have to stand alone
Free musical instruments and free music lessons for all schools not mentioned this time ? Corbyn promised that just a few years ago. Paying off student debts not mentioned this time ?
So as far as Labour policy on football clubs goes the idea is not for the fans to own the club but for them to have a say in the running of the club. When you know the huge cost of season tickets and the money spent by the supporters on travel and match attendance you realise that this is only fair.
As far as those who use the excuse "it's all Corbyn's fault" for the reason they won't vote Labour but will support the appalling policies of this right wing government I suggest you step up and take responsibility instead of playing the blame game. Look at the policies and if you vote for a party which has damaged so many lives then on your conscience be it.
I think the best reason for voting for Corbyn I have seen was the one which said after years of disastrous career politicians as PM whose main purpose has been to further their personal ambitions he is exactly what we should have. Because if he isn't elected he will simply return to being a hard working MP and not take up some directorship or head some unlikely organisation on a huge salary. He has never sought power so is the best person to have it.
The Green industrial Revolution
Social Houses built
Free education
Abolish Tory Health and Social Care Act Properly fund our NHS
Over 65s social care
Compensation and recognition for WASPI woman
Plus many more fantastic polices for the many.
The Labour Party with Blair as leader won 3 consecutive general elections, the only leader in the history of the Labour Party to do so.
Anyway if your motive is to vote against Tory policy, I dont think that Labour will necessarily be the tactical anti tory vote this time round!
In answer to the question in the OP, God, I hope so!
If you really do believe in Corbyns policies, stay on the subject and defend them!
Going "but but look at what the TORYs did" is not going to change anyones mind on labour policy
Grany do you honestly believe the myth that Corbyn critics = Tory lovers??
Tories being shits doesnt justify the labour crisis.
Its like Corbyn bingo on here. If you criticise Corbyn you are irrelevant because only people who love tory policy and only read tabloids would even descent and criticise JC right?
Well I am a Corbyn Labour supporter and want the Labour polices that would make a fairer society.
That's all I care about. I know there are people who read MSM right wing media and believe the propaganda and I also know that there are people who just want a Blairite type Labour Party and people who smear and don't want a Corbyn government. I know what I want what I believe.
Should have said - what politicians actually say -
yggdrasil I couldn’t agree with you more. I have stopped listening to the BBC and haven’t read a newspaper for years. I don’t believe half the posts I see on Twitter either. I do however watch video clips of what various politicians actually before I actually make my own mind up. Journalists are not honest anymore rarely sticking to facts.
People who have died through unnessary Tory austerity universal credit waiting for weeks for their money. Cuts to disability benefits, sanctions, conscious cruelty. In work poverty wages. The film, I Daniel Blake by director Ken Loach very true to life. It's not a joking matter lemongrove
This idea that you would only criticise Corbyn if your ONLY source of info was tabloids would be laughable if it wasnt so worrying! It makes his supporters sound brain washed! How can they ignore that the loudest criticisms of Corbyn are from people who have been IN his party or have supported labour policies in the past, and now cannot?
‘Massacre of the thousands’ Grany ? Where do you get these daft statements from, The Morning Star/ Marxists R Us?
Who are the ‘we’ Grany? Because most posters on GN think that Corbyn is a dead duck in political terms.
Anyone who dismisses anyone who is not "with" them and thinks they are the only intelligent informed caring conscientous group, ARE in an echo chamber.
The tabloids do print a lot of guff and lies. But have also been the only ones to whistleblow at times. Its not ALL lies just because a lot of it is. And to claim that all tabloid readers take its word as gospel is just another example of Corbynistic tribalism! Reading the tabloids does not make you a type of person. If some news is breaking that Im interested in I read all sources I can find, from UK and abroad! But you would dismiss me as a tabloid reading idiot who knows nothing.
And that in itself is why Corbanism os dangerous.
Only thing that's toxic is the Tories and their neo liberalism and massacre of the thousands.
