Just that really.

Gina Miller will be advising the best way and who to vote for.

I’ll post it as it comes into notice.

''Sometimes you have to sup with the devil ''

I am proud to say, that the many Conservatives I know well, family and friends (bar 2 perhaps)- would recoil at this, and would prefer to abstain or vote otherwise for the first time in their life. I amy disagree with them, many times- but they are honest and true.

Urmstongran Thu 31-Oct-19 18:32:05

But true.

SirChenjin Thu 31-Oct-19 18:29:00

How predictable

Urmstongran Thu 31-Oct-19 18:24:51

I disagree Scj it is all about Brexit. For now. It’s the most important decision right now - does our future government take us out - or not?

Everything else can wait. A bit longer.

SirChenjin Thu 31-Oct-19 18:19:10

Agree Jura. Remember , this election isn’t just about Brexit and Farage et al appear to have nothing else to offer - at least, nothing worth voting for.

Urmstongran Thu 31-Oct-19 18:18:12

Sometimes you have to sup with the devil - if you want Brexit done.

jura2 Thu 31-Oct-19 18:16:56

Perhaps, but I am not talking about those.
The ones I am thinking about voted 'leave' - some regret it bitterly- others do not, but would never consider an alliance with Farage - never ever.

SirChenjin Thu 31-Oct-19 18:16:48

He won’t have any choice but to pull so many out - he doesn’t have a wide appeal, unsurprisingly.

Urmstongran Thu 31-Oct-19 18:12:36

Some Tories will have voted to Remain in the EU jura so that’s understandable.

Urmstongran Thu 31-Oct-19 18:07:13

Nigel Farage is going to announce what his plans are tomorrow.

It will be crucial for Brexit hopes.

He is under pressure from a handful of Brexit party officials to abandon his pledge to stand in around 600 seats and instead target just 30-50 areas where victory would be almost guaranteed.

For example, Labour voters in Leave areas such as Redcar, Durham and Sunderland are apparently so angry with both the main parties for the failure to deliver Brexit that they may move in droves to the BP.

50 seats in parliament would be no small feat for the party and could even make them kingmakers if parliament returns a hung parliament!

All eyes will be on Nigel tomorrow to see what he decides.

SirChenjin Thu 31-Oct-19 18:01:19

That’s not going to happen - their vote share is too narrow which is why they’ve pulled back so many candidates.

Anyway, no point in speculating - what will be will be.

jura2 Thu 31-Oct-19 18:00:40

Many Tories among family and acquaintances - they will NOT wish to be tainted with voting in cohuts with Farage and the extreme right.

Urmstongran Thu 31-Oct-19 17:54:20

Not just the Remainers voting tactically!

If the Brexit Party can overcome their own hubris and agree a non-aggression pact with the Tory Party in constituencies and in media PR, the Tories will will win a majority easily.

It does seem as though Nigel is going for Labour’s northern Leavers vote.

jura2 Thu 31-Oct-19 17:38:59

Wwmk2 - this is so hard hey? If Starmer took over, it would be so so much simpler.

Where I vote, Lib Dem is the only hope to perhaps beat Tories- or might vote Green just to make the point. I hate the FPP system- which has resulted and every single vote from OH and I going straight in the bin. How can that be 'democratic'.

SirChenjin Thu 31-Oct-19 17:31:04

The tactical voting website is live now too

growstuff Thu 31-Oct-19 17:28:40

The Brexit Party has just announced that it's starting the tactical vote ball rolling by withdrawing candidates from seats where a Brexit-supporting Conservative is the frontrunner.

I absolutely loathe Corbyn as a fraud and a sham. But unless there is an extraordinary LibDem surge I'll be voting Labour in a Lab/Con marginal. A PV-supporting Labour government restrained by other parties would be vastly less bad than an unconstrained Johnson-ERG government.

growstuff Wed 30-Oct-19 13:19:29

Yes, I am and that's one reason why I probably won't vote for them. They do some good stuff locally and I'd like to see a few more vocal Green MPs (which we'd have with PR) but I disagree with some of their policies.

SirChenjin Wed 30-Oct-19 13:15:55

Which party does the UK need now? Greens

Not if you want to keep the UK it doesn't. I presume you're aware of their stance on the union?

Whitewavemark2 Wed 30-Oct-19 12:12:15

Femi
@Femi_Sorry

Who do I WANT to vote for? Greens
Who DID I vote for in the Local & EU (Proportional Representation) Elections? Greens
Which party does the UK need now? Greens

But in a first-past-the-post Brexit-Critical #GE2019, I have to vote tactically.

growstuff Wed 30-Oct-19 12:10:44

Oopsminty I accept the result anyway, although I personally think it's lunacy. Nevertheless, I genuinely believe that, after over three years and knowing much more about what is entailed, people are now in a better position to judge.

Personally, I would feel slightly happier knowing for sure that people still want to leave, despite having a lot more information available.

Of course, I would prefer a new result to be for Remain, but I would accept a majority decision, with much better knowledge and (hopefully) less overspending and illegality.

grapefruitpip Wed 30-Oct-19 12:07:20

I'm sorry Gonegirl but this is beginning to feel personal and I'm getting rather tired of it.

My opinion is that the word bully is massively overused. My definition was taken from the Cambridge dictionary.

Gonegirl Wed 30-Oct-19 12:06:17

Oh, it's the OP.

Come on! hmm

Gonegirl Wed 30-Oct-19 12:05:08

Oh for goodness sake grapefruitpip. There are many definitions of bullying. Don't be so black and white.

Not that I'm saying there is any bullying on this thread. Haven't read enough of it to do that.

Gonegirl Wed 30-Oct-19 12:03:45

growstuff grin I'll help with the digging.
