These are some of the subjects we can expect to be brought up

Wolfie.
I await Mr Neil's interview with Johnson with interest.

1. Jennifer Arcuri
2. Russian interference report suppression
3. Rampant Tory Islamaphobia
4. Johnson a serial liar
5. Johnson a homophobic
6. Tory austerity deaths
7. Tory dirty election stunts

And much, much more.

'In my opinion Andrew Neil could be a decent interviewer if he learned some manners: he simply shouts and interrupts making it difficult for viewers to properly hear responses to his questions.'

The same applies to posters in these threads.
As a relatively new poster on GN, I am really quite shocked at the sheer nastiness shown by women (and men) who are old enough to know better.

Different opinions are slapped down with personal attacks. It really does make unpleasant reading at times. And they call Mumsnet a nest of vipers!

I am interested in politics, in 'serious' threads, in differing points of view, but will restrict myself to the fluffy threads I think, because the childish vitriol is most offputting.

@M0nica you make a good point with which I absolutely agree. Furthermore I had to laugh at WWM2 describing your post as sneering and unpleasant. Shades of pot calling kettle etc. What I have found frustrating is the tendency for all party candidates to try to make themselves look better by rubbishing their opponents. I would greatly admire the integrity of a politician who could actually say of an opponent 'actually this element A of your manifesto is a great idea but our party would do B and C differently' Parliament in general needs to take a good hard look at its dreadful behaviour. In my opinion Andrew Neil could be a decent interviewer if he learned some manners: he simply shouts and interrupts making it difficult for viewers to properly hear responses to his questions.

I think a lot of people won't be Boris fans, but see him as the ONLY viable option in these extraordinary times.
He doesn't scare the bejesus out of me as the dream team of Corbyn/McDonnel/Abbott and Thornberry do.
And their interpretation of the VERY preliminary US trade talk documents Corbyn was waving around hysterically yesterday would be laughable if the statements they made weren't so dangerous. Just hope no one newly diagnosed with cancer now has the added worry (thanks to JC lies) that they will have to pay for their treatment under a Conservative govt. Also - if God forbid we do end up with the dream team , is it wise for them to constantly be so full of contempt for our biggest ally, the US?? We are but a tiny island - if the XXXX hits the fan, we'll need them.....

Reading this, I understand when reading so many posts on GN, why Johnson will get their vote.

Boris Johnson described children of single mums as:

•ill-raised
•ignorant
•aggressive
•illegitimate

Boris also says working class are:

•drunk
•criminal
•aimless
•feckless
•hopeless
•low self-esteem

I fail to see how persisting in asking for a straight answer counts as 'bullying'.

The so-frequent evasion, which they're nearly all guilty of much of the time, and which thoroughly pisses the vast majority of us off, IMO usually means,

'I can't and won't commit myself on this, because I can't be certain whether X or Y will win or lose my party more support/votes.'

humptydumpty Thu 28-Nov-19 13:16:48

I agree in principle jura but in light of what others have said, it doesn't sound as if he would challenge BJ at all, and might make matters worse.

jura2 Thu 28-Nov-19 13:11:25

A face to face debate with an opponent is a totally different entity. And now we know, more lies from the Johnson team

''The Tories had claimed that they had been unable to find a date that worked for both the prime minister and the BBC.

He continued: "*We're ready anytime, anywhere, any place*.

"*There can be no problems with scheduling I'm ready to go anywhere, any time, any place.*

No heckling from me- just asking a question again as no-one replying to first. There should be a Johnson interview by Andrew Neil on his own - like all the others, surely- and very close to the others.

Urmstongran Thu 28-Nov-19 12:42:39

Andrew Neil has just announced on Politics Live jura that Boris -v- Corbyn PM Debate will be live on BBC a week tomorrow - 6 December.

Urmstongran Thu 28-Nov-19 11:56:10

Please Johnson supporters and admirers, could you ...

''May I have your comment about Johnson refusing to be interviewed by Andrew Neil, please.''

Stop heckling us jura
He might not have said yes but he hasn’t declined yet either!

He is ahead in the polls. It’s all his to lose. No wonder his advisers are cautious. I have no problem with that.

I do hope he agrees to the interview though! Fair’s fair.

humptydumpty Thu 28-Nov-19 11:00:47

lemon my previous post:

From BBC News Team twitter:

For those asking when Boris Johnson's interview will take place, we're in ongoing discussions with his team but we haven't yet been able to fix a date

GracesGranMK3 Wed 27-Nov-19 22:59:59

Labour just need to withdraw completely and not appear on the BBC nor allow them into briefings.

jura2 Wed 27-Nov-19 22:02:32

And it gets worse - how low will the BBC go???

''Boris Johnson has displayed abject cowardice by ducking his grilling by the BBC’s Andrew Neil – and the BBC has hidden the news from Labour and the public until after Corbyn’s interview with Neil last night.

Ofcom rules require broadcasters to be absolutely impartial in their political reporting during general election periods, so broadcasting a tough interview with the leader of the Opposition when Johnson had not committed to his own interview is a gross and blatant breach of the BBC’s legal obligations and a display of contempt for the UK’s democracy.

But the reality is far worse than the BBC simply omitting to mention Johnson’s spinelessness until after Corbyn’s interview was broadcast – because the broadcaster lied to Labour that Johnson had committed, in order to secure Corbyn’s participation.".....

jura2 Wed 27-Nov-19 21:34:48

thanks lemon- it does seem that he is being a very slippery fish, and won't agree to a date (or anything at all). Disappointing is one word for it- I have a few others.

lemongrove Wed 27-Nov-19 21:23:20

jura I’m not an admirer but in this case am a supporter ( better than the alternative LP/SNP)
So, that being the case, my comment is that I hadn’t heard that Johnson isn’t now going to do an interview with Neil, which if true, is disappointing as I like seeing him giving all politicians a grilling. It was meant to be next week, Swinson as well.

GracesGranMK3 Wed 27-Nov-19 21:11:08

The press may be seeing through Mr Johnson at last.

Isn't this just the sort of thing a gentleman with a funny moustache did?

jura2 Wed 27-Nov-19 20:51:39

Please Johnson supporters and admirers, could you ...

''May I have your comment about Johnson refusing to be interviewed by Andrew Neil, please.''

varian Wed 27-Nov-19 19:27:57

We have a local hustings event planned in our constituency.

The LibDem, Labour and Green candidates have all accepted the invitation to take part, but not the Conservative ex-MP, a useless ERG member. The organisers are threatening to cancel the event. Outrageous contempt of democracy!

GracesGranMK3 Wed 27-Nov-19 18:40:22

This seems to fit with his ducking and diving.

jura2 Wed 27-Nov-19 18:40:15

However - talking about the Press, Twitter, etc:

novara.media/BillionaireMedia

jura2 Wed 27-Nov-19 18:24:45

freyja ''I too am interested on what questions he has for BJ and will he use the same bully boy interviewing tactics the BBC seems to like and promote.''

but the whole point is- he is refusing to be interviewed.

WadesNan- I don't use a mobile phone or Whatsup, nor Twitter. I am using my own judgement and obesrvations- I know, these days it is hard to believe.

May I have your comment about Johnson refusing to be interviewed by Andrew Neil, please.

GracesGranMK3 Wed 27-Nov-19 18:22:21

Oh Lord, it's back.

GracesGranMK3 Wed 27-Nov-19 18:21:20

humptydumpty Wed 27-Nov-19 15:50:04

True.

jura2 Wed 27-Nov-19 18:08:49

So what do you think about Johnson chickening out of an interview with Andrew Neil. I now I am repeating this- but as none of his supporters here have replied- I am asking ... again. Thanks.

MaizieD Wed 27-Nov-19 18:08:02

I too, would love it if MOnica were to lead a thread where ...adherents of all three political parties have an open and honest discussion about the policies of their separate parties and talk about the pro and cons of each party's policy and be prepared to except that there party is not perfect and that some policies are not as good as others and may have unforeseen consequences that they hadn't thought about.

But I'll still post the same old, same old when the 'same old, same old' is repeated by those of other 'beliefs'. (Not on Monica's thread, though...)

Like in response to vacuous comments like this:

I see the Corbyn supporters have got the WhatsApp message about the "truly horrific" interview and to "flood" the internet with positive comments hmm
