They reckon a huge majority for the tories!

inkcog Sat 14-Dec-19 10:09:57

mansplained is quite offensive and irritating tbh. I thought we were living in the 21st century.

Grandad1943 Sat 14-Dec-19 10:05:41

Anniebach, i believe if any forum member looks back through the recent posts in this thread, they will see that it was you who very disrespectfully addressed me with the remark "Aw I think granddad43 has a crush on Ms Formby "

Therefore if you do not wish to have responses to posts such as that, do not make such remarks.

There is also an old adage which states "when you find yourself in a hole stop digging."

Callistemon Sat 14-Dec-19 09:59:31

It may have been me who asked Grandad to mansplain
grin

However, I do know quite a lot about the Labour Party in the last century as my dad mansplained explained all about it.

My point is that that was the last century and I think we need a modern Labour Party for modern times.

inkcog Sat 14-Dec-19 09:58:07

Pointless really, all of it.

Anniebach Sat 14-Dec-19 09:57:45

Where Annie goes ? A stalker follows ?

Anniebach Sat 14-Dec-19 09:56:59

Unions again, I chose to join the Labour Party, NOT from gratitude , a decision I made after much thought.

GracesGranMK3 Sat 14-Dec-19 09:54:43

dear me, another slanging match.

Where Annie goes ...

inkcog Sat 14-Dec-19 09:52:13

dear me, another slanging match.

Grandad1943 Sat 14-Dec-19 09:50:35

Anniebach Quote [You are just a labour supporter.] End Quote.

Wrong again Anniebach. I have been an affiliate member of the Labour Party since 1966. I have maintained that by way of my membership of the Transport & General Workers Union (now the Unite Union).

I still retain that membership as gratitude for all that organisation did for my education throughout the 1970 and 80s. A service they continue to give to very many others even today.

Such is the Labour Movement

Anniebach Sat 14-Dec-19 09:11:04

No granddad43. Not 50 years , over 50 years a member,
You are just a labour supporter .

Grandad1943 Sat 14-Dec-19 09:04:48

Anniebach, you "claim" to have been a member of the Labour Party for fifty years. However, you have often demonstrated as with your above post that you have little or no understanding of its administration or structures.

In that, you speak of Len McCluskey "running the Labour Party" when he does not even hold a seat on that bodies General Executive Committee (NEC).

Jenny Formby also does not hold a voting seat on the above body. She is the General Secretary of the Labour Party and in that position she is ex-officio to the NEC.

The word "Secretary" in her title should have given you a clue anniebach?

Anniebach Sat 14-Dec-19 08:47:20

grandad43. May I explain ?

McClusky is a union boss, he is not a superior Male in the
Labour Party.

I do agree he is with just a few others - controlling the Labour Party but he is only a party member.

Grandad1943 Sat 14-Dec-19 08:40:15

Well, if anyone should look back in this thread they will witness that i was asked to do some "Mansplaining" by a woman.

I am also very surprised that women who are always posting on this forum in regard to women's inequality in Britain would wish to defend a person who believes that in the workplace women only advance their careers by jumping into bed with their male superiors. ?

Anniebach Sat 14-Dec-19 08:29:17

Aw I think granddad43 has a crush on Ms Formby ?

Anniebach Sat 14-Dec-19 08:28:15

Male superiors in management?

granddad43, you are confused , what has Male management to do with McClusky and Formby?

You end your post saying of Formby

‘A woman who has walked the walk and not just talked the talk
as so many do ‘

You are saying many women do ‘jump into bed ‘ but not
Formby ?

Buffybee Sat 14-Dec-19 01:32:45

I think they call it "Mansplaining" maddyone.wink

maddyone Sat 14-Dec-19 00:55:52

I see Grandad’s back to lecturing us again. Quelle surprise!

Grandad1943 Fri 13-Dec-19 23:09:55

Anniebach Quote [ So wrong unions can hold a substantial number of seats on the National Executive. Suppose this explains why Jennie Formby is the current general secretary, she is the mother of McClusky's son.] End Quote.

Anniebach, if you are suggesting that women in Britain only achieve advancement in their employment by way of "jumping into bed" with their male superiors in management then that is highly derogatory to every working woman in this country.

Disgusting and totally out of date thinking. I also suggest you read up on the Jennie Formby advancement by way of trade union workplace representative election in the road transport industry throughout the nineteen seventies.

A woman that has walked the walk and not just talked the talk as so many do.

Anniebach Fri 13-Dec-19 22:31:47

So wrong unions can hold a substantial number of seats on the
National Executive. Suppose this explains why Jennie Formby
is the current general secretary, she is the mother of McCluskys son.

Callistemon Fri 13-Dec-19 22:27:21

Grandad I know the history of the Labour Party, it was imbued in me as I grew up.

However, times do change, what the electorate wants or needs has obviously changed and politicians should recognise that and adapt to modern times.

GagaJo Fri 13-Dec-19 22:22:47

Neither is lying.

Callistemon Fri 13-Dec-19 22:17:36

Intransigence is not a good trait.

lemongrove Fri 13-Dec-19 22:17:32

If only Corbyn had employed Anniebach as an advisor, she would have told him ages ago, that he was headed for disaster with an extreme left agenda and no firm commitments on Brexit one way or another. She certainly told other LP members and voters on this forum.....and they sneered nonstop. We now know how it ended.

GagaJo Fri 13-Dec-19 22:12:07

Electorate have no need to concern themselves anymore though, do they?

So, if he is wanted, he stays. And currently, he is.

Anniebach Fri 13-Dec-19 22:11:44

Grandad43 you say

If the existing Labour Party can survive without the support of the wider movement, so be it, as that would set it free to have whatever policies and leader(s) it wished.

You explain my reasons for being against the unions having
power over the Labour Party, why Corbyn is a nodding dog
for McClusky.

The Labour MP’s should decide on the manifesto not the unions.
