This is old news and has been posted on another thread a while back.

It's ok. My brain seems to have gradually worked this out. A female sperm donor is a man who has decided to live as a woman but still has all his working bits. Problem solved. smile

What business is it of mine I always wonder? Never likely to meet these people and it will not impinge of my life.

GracesGranMK3 Sat 11-Jan-20 12:21:34

Sorry that was in reply to Chestnut Sat 11-Jan-20 11:55:22

Janipat you may be right.

GracesGranMK3 Sat 11-Jan-20 12:20:12

There is a great deal of difference in coming out with something like a statement such "my favourite colour is blue" which is your opinion and no one could argue with and suggesting you know all about the biology and psychology of this subject.

What Bathsheba said was "Everyone is entitled to have an opinion about anything they wish without thinking it's their business" They are - in their heads but if you start spouting off as if you know the facts you must expect to be challenged. You are going from chat to discussion/debate. Between the two of us only you think I am trying to create an argument. I think I am just presenting facts, which I appreciate you may not like but that is really your issue, not mine.

annep1 Sat 11-Jan-20 11:57:45

GracesGranMK3 I did read the article.

Chestnut Sat 11-Jan-20 11:55:22

You seem to be trying to create an argument in an empty room GracesGranMK3. Your comments are not about the OP but about whether anyone has the right to have an opinion on it. You seem to enjoy putting people down.

janipat Sat 11-Jan-20 11:48:39

GracesGranMK3 Bathsheba said I don't think this story is any of my business, but it is actually impossible to read any story and not have a reaction to it and therefore an opinion. Whether I express that opinion publicly is another matter entirely. And yet you felt compelled to challenge her? I'd have said she was in tune with Patrick Stokes, and his teaching.

ladymuck Sat 11-Jan-20 11:46:10

People shouldn't go public with their personal problems if they don't want others to express their opinions on the matter.

GracesGranMK3 Sat 11-Jan-20 11:41:31

Obviously, you didn't read the article annepl. No one can stop you having an opinion - in your head. What Patrick Stokes is saying is that he teaches his student that there are times and places for just putting an unsubstantiated opinion.

annep1 Sat 11-Jan-20 09:34:24

It makes my brain tired too Lucywinter.
I shall refrain from giving my opinion. Can't be bothered with being told I'm not entitled to it.

lucywinter Tue 07-Jan-20 16:03:28

Yennifer will googling tell me about a female sperm donor. Haven't found anything so far. sad

GracesGranMK3 Tue 07-Jan-20 15:54:13

Bathsheba
Everyone is entitled to have an opinion about anything they wish without thinking it's their business

Why do you believe that? Here is an argument that says you are not Now who is right. You, or the guy who lectures in philosophy?

suziewoozie Tue 07-Jan-20 15:46:32

A man cannot give birth and a sperm donor is always male. Anything else flies in the face of biological reality. A transman could give birth and a transwoman could be a sperm donor. That’s it really.

Yennifer Tue 07-Jan-20 15:35:57

Oh dear, sorry I forgot

lucywinter Tue 07-Jan-20 15:32:08

And the female sperm donor? confused

yggdrasil Tue 07-Jan-20 15:28:24

lucy:
"But realising he wanted a baby, Reuben spoke to a trusted trans doctor about the possibility of falling pregnant.
He was reassured it was possible as he still had his womb and ovaries."

lucywinter Tue 07-Jan-20 15:04:05

Yes, but I just wanna know how it all worked. hmm

Didn't mean to start any sort of discussion on gender stuff.

Can't open yer gob round here. hmm

Yennifer Tue 07-Jan-20 14:43:29

I just think, oh they had a baby that's nice. The ins and outs so to speak just aren't my business. I get that it raises awareness and hopefully acceptance of the ways people live their lives however it does bring forward all the people who think it is now their business and they then think they néed to have negative opinions about it. I don't have head space for that in general because I've got plenty to worry about. So I'm happy for the to be happy andi hope any negative feedback doesn't hurt them.

Bathsheba Tue 07-Jan-20 14:41:12

Chestnut Tue 07-Jan-20 14:40:24

I don't have an opinion, I just find it strange there are so many people who seem to be questioning or changing their gender now. There seems to be an awful lot of confused people out there and you can't help but wonder why. Society is changing before our very eyes and I just hope some research is being done to understand why this is happening.

lucywinter Tue 07-Jan-20 14:27:29

I came across it on twitter btw. (Now, there's somewhere where people have opinions grin)

lucywinter Tue 07-Jan-20 14:25:56

I don't need to have opinions about anything, and it isn't my business. I just find it hard to understand the who-did-what thing. confusedhmm

Yennifer Tue 07-Jan-20 13:34:27

I think the trouble with these types of stories in newspapers is people then think things are their business and they néed to have opinions about it
