So now Peter Phillips is advertising milk to the Chinese! What in heaven's name is going on in the Royal Family?

A young British friend living near me in Switzerland, asked me to bring back some babymilk over from UK - a specific brand which has had excellent reviews for high quality and no contaminants, etc. Both times- in early Nov. and in Dec. we had huge difficulties getting the 10 boxes she required. We had to make about 5 visits to several supermarkets to get them. We were told people buy it and re-sell it to people back in China - on several occasions.

Irrespective of not receiving any direct money from the public purse, the fact remains that Mr Phillips is quite obviously cashing in on his royal connections; all the talk about the Windsor herd, and film of being served by footmen etc. As an aside, I am very disturbed by these massive dairies where the cows never see daylight, and also, I thought that most Han Chinese at least, are lactose intolerant, so all in all inappropriate whichever way you look at it.

And didn’t Peter and Autumn Phillips have their wedding in Hello? Think the Queen was not best pleased.
But as previously said, no titles, no public money, so different I imagine.

Calendargirl Tue 21-Jan-20 12:10:07

Might be wrong, but has Zara advertised posh watches in the past?

Maybe you should tell the Chinese that Granny23 or Peter Philips because that's what he's trading on. William won't incidently automatically become P of Wales his dad will have to appoint him. It's Charles III by the way. 1 had his head chopped off 2 had no children and was succeeded by his brother James II (VII of Scotland) who had to abdicate because he was catholic and we got William and Mary. What will happen after Charles III is interesting but probably won't bother me!

Well clearly there’s grandchildren and there’s grandchildren.

Granny23 Tue 21-Jan-20 11:47:21

Constitutionally there is no such thing as a BRITISH Royal Family. Elizabeth II is Queen of England and simultaneously Elizabeth, Queen of Scots. Charles is Prince of Wales. i.e. the highest Ranking person in Wales. When Charles takes over he will be King of Scots and Charles ?? King of England, while William will become Prince of Wales.

Someone pointed out that the Sussexes are seldom seen in Sussex, but I can't remember when the Duke of Edinburgh last appeared in Edinburgh. The whole titles thing is a farce. Nothing to stop us commoners naming our children as Little Princess Kylie, or Robert King (like the lad from school who was always referred to as King Robert).

He's still trading on the Royal family Callistemon and not only that but lying, claiming he was brought up on milk from a herd of Jersey cows at Windsor. And both men are the Queen's grandsons. I do wonder how much charity work has Peter Philips done?

Callistemon Tue 21-Jan-20 11:29:57

I think she is from Sudetanland?

But also Australian and with a Aussie accent although she seems to have lost that en route.

And, as HM said, "a bit too grand for us"!

Callistemon Tue 21-Jan-20 11:24:13

Harry is still a British Royal Family member trisher but no longer an HRH.
Peter Phillips has never been an HRH.

Grammaretto Tue 21-Jan-20 11:24:01

What became of Princess Michael of Kent? At one time she was always in the news for being Roman Catholic, being German (even more German that is, than the rest) and for putting her foot in it and being inappropriate.

I'll bet she and other lesser Royals are relieved to be out of the limelight.

Callistemon Tue 21-Jan-20 11:22:25

As Longleat has no connection with the RF I wonder why they used it? Presumably he filmed the ad and the backdrop was added in during post-production - did he not realise?

Callistemon Tue 21-Jan-20 11:16:44

gillybob grin

It obviously works!

Grammaretto Tue 21-Jan-20 11:14:43

gillybob grin

HM The Queen - life assurance for seniors
Prince Phillip - car insurance
Duchess of Sussex - baby slings
Duke of Sussex - ready meals

trisher Tue 21-Jan-20 11:13:47

It plainly uses the Royal connection- not just the exterior of Longleat without permission but 'British Royal Family member Peter Philips'. So it's OK for one of the Queen's GC to trade on the connection but not for another? I hope people posting on her don't treat their own GCs with such differing standards.

gillybob Tue 21-Jan-20 11:06:38

Prince Andrew anyone ?

Cameras? PR ? Photoshop ? Antiperspirant?

newnanny Tue 21-Jan-20 10:59:58

pp no title at all and receive s not a penny from public funding. Princess Ann refused a title of any kind for them for this reason. Zara Philips already has connection with Land rover so too late Prince Philip. She had one with a pushchair brand when baby Lena born too. She takes no public money and no title at all. If H&M want to take money the yh should give up titles and all public money then no problems. Problems only occur because they want it all titles and money and handouts from Dad. It is well known H&M already have more than £20 million of their own so Charles should be telling them to use their own money. PP and Z do not have taxpayers pay for bodyguards they pay for own security if they want it. H&M should do the same. The Queen has gone soft as she has grown older.

Oopsminty Tue 21-Jan-20 10:48:33

They were just discussing this on Jeremy Vine

I can't see a problem really

He's got to make money somehow. He doesn't get any cash from the RF

And what about Royal Warrants? They've been knocking around forever

Isn't that an indirect form of advertising?

vegansrock Tue 21-Jan-20 10:44:49

Well we could have the Royal family, sponsored by....well, can't think of any British firm that would sponsor them - maybe a Gin or Whisky firm? Save the taxpayer a heap of money.

Chestnut Tue 21-Jan-20 10:26:58

But he's using the Royal connection gillybob. See the advert. And used Longleat House without permission apparently.

Pantglas2 Tue 21-Jan-20 10:25:21

The Queen - Hermes headscarves
Duke of Edinburgh- Rayban sunglasses

Callistemon Tue 21-Jan-20 10:24:57

Princess Anne not allowed - she's on the payroll because she carries out royal duties (more than most).
However, I'm sure she would rather have been advertising horse feed!!

gillybob Tue 21-Jan-20 10:21:55

Let’s think of some good ads for the royals :

Princess Ann - Too easy . Horse feed .
Prince Phillip - Land Rover

merlotgran Tue 21-Jan-20 10:19:09

Do they even know who he is? grin
