I am disgusted by the announcement that these two have sacked 15 British members of staff. What are they thinking?
I ask myself 'how would I feel if I'd upped sticks and gone to another country out of loyalty to my employer, only for them to get rid of me 3 months later.
I would be heartbroken and furious.

I so wish she didn’t remind me of Baldrick, I loved Baldrick,
but ‘I’ve got a cunning plan ‘ comes to mind when I see her

I suspect she’s wearing brighter colours and heavier makeup now as she wants to be noticed by Hollywood. Or possibly because she wants it to be seen how well she’s thriving now she’s out of the ‘toxic’ Royal Family. Possibly both, who knows?

I assumed Meghan was wearing red to honour the Royal Marines, but it could have been to coordinate with Harry. She looked fabulous just as she did the other night in the turquoise dress. Her smile was huge and she acted the part, until she got in the car. Really that was all she had to do, act a part. But obviously she doesn’t want to, and I guess there are possible richer pickings elsewhere. Perhaps it would have been better to allow them to be half in, half out, but the Queen has made it clear that is not acceptable. And it was never going to be allowed to use the word Royal to sell themselves, I’m a bit surprised that Harry thought it would. Perhaps they would have been better advised if they had stuck to British advisers rather than employing American advisers who clearly don’t understand how royalty works.

I agree with you about the lovely bright coloured clothes she is now wearing. I did wonder why she was always in drab colours before.
The bright colours look good on her.

Why not before? I have one idea about that.

Anniebach Sun 08-Mar-20 15:13:38

Another puzzle, how does one smile constantly, yes if greeting
or being greeted, yes if in amusing company, but constantly ?

Callistemon Sun 08-Mar-20 15:10:55

It was the Marines though.

Anniebach Sun 08-Mar-20 15:09:51

If William had worn a green suit to match Kate’s dress I would
agree. Army wives do not dress to match their husbands uniform

Chestnut Sun 08-Mar-20 15:09:23

What is quite noticeable is that Meghan always wore black, white or cream before, maybe shades of brown sometimes. I had noticed many times how utterly boring her choice of styles and colours were. Now suddenly she has burst into colour! So what is all that about? Why didn't she wear them before, it's not as if colourful clothing was banned.

Callistemon Sun 08-Mar-20 14:57:25

I think it's quite twee that they seem to dress in co ordinating colours; both in red or both in blue. I wonder if they take it in turns to choose?

I think it is the Howard and Hilda syndrome, DH and I have been known to do that (unwittingly).

Actually, I thought it was fine. But then I am no fashionista.

It was wonderful for Catherine to wear green in Ireland, but not OK for Meghan to wear red in honour of the Royal Marines.
Wait to be castigated grin

as individuals we choose our own paths & have various circumstances thrown at us along the way

The difference here being that Harry was not supposed to choose his own path, it was chosen for him from birth. However, he has decided to break the mould, break away and forge their own path. Apparently not allowed!!

I do think they would have been a great asset to the Royal Family and I am disappointed but who would want to live in the glare of all this adverse publicity?

Anniebach Sun 08-Mar-20 14:42:11

merlot. ?

merlotgran Sun 08-Mar-20 14:37:49

They've gone to church at Windsor with the Queen today. I wonder if the quiet word from her Maj will be, 'Look dear, you had your chance to be involved with the commonwealth stuff but you turned your back on it so kindly remember the star of tomorrow's gig will be ME!'

Anniebach Sun 08-Mar-20 14:32:13

Why if making secret visits is Megan always accompanied by
a camera ?

Someone needs time out........ pinkquartz

No one is stopping you. I find it best to do several things at once. So at the moment, I am looking at sitting rooms on-line (although the bathroom has to come first), messaging with my son who has just boarded his plane back to Sidney (he has a row of seats all to himself) and catching up with my daughter who dropped him off at the airport and is on her way home. I have some notes about dressmaking courses coming in on Facebook too. Replying to forum posts is small beer in comparison to the other bits. I recommend it.

cupaffull Sun 08-Mar-20 13:36:55

Hmmn she does play her part well....nuff said.
I hope they GO soon and are very happy abroad. grin

Bridgeit Sun 08-Mar-20 13:24:08

?

pinkquartz Sun 08-Mar-20 13:16:19

M is an actress....that is not gossip and she plays her part well.

Look at H, he looks so unhappy and thoughtful
M on the other hand has more of a forced smile than usual....her mouth is smiling but her eyes are not sparkling.....
H looks like he just lost something and the penny dropped that he minds very much.

pinkquartz Sun 08-Mar-20 13:15:55

So we cannot have an opinion on M in case other posters are
upset.
what about a trigger warning?

Or we could stay and tell you just how despicable we find the thread, Chestnut. The choice really isn't yours to make, is it? I am certainly not aiming to allow the flow of excrement that most would be ashamed to own to continue without challenge.

maddyone Sun 08-Mar-20 13:01:14

Summerlove
That is indeed a horrible headline in the DM and I’m glad I didn’t see it. I’m a bit surprised it wasn’t reported. Why would they be so racist?
However it doesn’t change my opinion that the general public were apparently extremely pleased and happy to welcome Meghan and they were pleased for Harry, as it seemed to be well known that he was keen to settle down and have a family.
I have not seen a single racist remark on Gransnet about Meghan. Quite rightly there has not been one. Her behaviour has been criticised, and that’s perfectly acceptable.

merlotgran Sun 08-Mar-20 13:00:17

I wonder if there will be more people than usual tuning in to the Commonwealth service tomorrow. It's at 2.15. I've checked! grin

Chestnut Sun 08-Mar-20 12:58:14

Enough of the bun fight! Can we get back to posting on H&M? If anyone doesn't like the thread then please feel free to leave the room.

GracesGranMK3 Sun 08-Mar-20 12:54:52

I don't believe I did either Maddyone. I can't remember what I said but I am not trying to attack one person. I just think the culture of malicious gossip is poisonous. It actually kills people and should be controlled by those who publish such things. If I did mention anyone, in particular, I am quite happy to apologise.

If the person who made the tit-for-tat report (I didn't report yours by the way but whoever did had every right to) still has the email from GN perhaps they could share what I actually did say.
