I am disgusted by the announcement that these two have sacked 15 British members of staff. What are they thinking?
I ask myself 'how would I feel if I'd upped sticks and gone to another country out of loyalty to my employer, only for them to get rid of me 3 months later.
I would be heartbroken and furious.

I think it's quite twee that they seem to dress in co ordinating colours; both in red or both in blue. I wonder if they take it in turns to choose? grin

vegansrock Sun 08-Mar-20 12:49:30

We could all find pictures of The Queen, Charles, William and Kate etc which are unflattering/ looking bored/ sad / whatever. One photo doesn’t prove anything.

They are not behaving any differently than other families all around the world.
Some of us maybe happy with our children’s choices & some of us have misgivings &concerns, but as individuals we choose our own paths & have various circumstances thrown at us along the way.
We ,like each generation before us have been there one way or another , M& H are no different in this respect .They will go with the flow & good intentions , then change course & adapt when & if it becomes necessary.
Their chances of staying the course are as 50/ 50 as everyone else’s .
Who has ever been able to guarantee the sustained suitability of two people who decide to embark on a journey together.
At least they will be able to part company if it should come to that, so many of us will no doubt remember the times when it was a case of - You’ve made your bed so you will have to lay in it ( and in most cases that bed had to be laid in for a very long time ! )

People absolutely cared about “where she came from”. I know this story has been dismissed before by some here as not racist, but the headline is so misleading to make people think the worst about her, and where she is from

POGS

No problem, I just wanted people to know that I hadn’t maligned a Gransnetter on this thread. I was describing my opinion of Meghan.

lemongrove Sun 08-Mar-20 12:25:52

GNHQ what on earth is going on?
Deleting some mild posts on here just because one poster, in this case GGM3 doesn’t like any comments about Harry and Meghan?
Yes, you deleted one of hers too ( an attack on somebody) but that doesn’t excuse it, nor does the threat of pulling an entire
Thread!
This is my only post on this thread btw.

Sparklefizz Sun 08-Mar-20 12:25:20

Perhaps Meghan is one of GNHQ's admins?? grin

POGS Sun 08-Mar-20 12:24:20

Anniebach and Maddyone

I take your point as I did generalise about ' repeat offenders' which in turn could point the finger at everybody who has a post deleted on this particular thread. That was not my intention so sorry for that. To be honest I think the methodology of which posters /posts GNHQ deem as breaking forum guidelines can be laughable at times but it is up to GNHQ to make their judgement .

I wouldn't mind betting you would be annoyed if this thread was pulled having put so much time and effort into it. I always post something of a similar vein if and when GNHQ makes a threat to delete an entire thread which I deem as unfair to the many and serves other posters well who would see it as a form of getting their way to cease discussion about a subject they don't like being discussed.

GracesGranMK3 Sun 08-Mar-20 12:23:17

So did you think GNHQ was talking to us all or just one or two people and definitely not yourself maddyone?

GracesGranMK3 Sun 08-Mar-20 12:21:29

Oh millymouge what a sane and sensible post. It seems to publish views that tear apart of other people and their marriage, even though you actually know nothing about them, is the current sport on GN sadly.

maddyone Sun 08-Mar-20 12:20:07

And we’re off again.

GracesGranMK3 Sun 08-Mar-20 12:17:18

POGS Sun 08-Mar-20 11:44:45

It is interesting that you see the GNHQ post aimed at anyone other than yourself. Is this always how you see them?

maddyone Sun 08-Mar-20 12:15:04

A picture tells a thousand words.
Yes indeed.

maddyone Sun 08-Mar-20 12:12:37

Ha ha merlot I always look in awe at the shoes both Meghan and Catherine wear. I wouldn’t be able to walk down the front garden path in them.
Incidentally my daughter wears similar shoes, she was known at work for her ‘killer heels.’

Callistemon Sun 08-Mar-20 12:09:51

That thought crossed my mind too!
"Can I take these shoes off now?"
Harry "No! you are still Royal for the time being. Put up and shut up and keep that smile plastered on your face"

merlotgran Sun 08-Mar-20 12:07:10

Maybe her feet were killing her!

Callistemon Sun 08-Mar-20 12:06:48

Thank goodness we are not all judged by a photo taken at an unguarded moment!
People may not agree with what they are doing but they are people not shop window dummies.

Jabberwok Sun 08-Mar-20 12:03:05

No one before they were married were even remotely concerned with who she was or where she came from. She seemed lovely, Prince Harry clearly adored her and the majority of the public were happy for them both. It's her behavior since those happy early days towards the country and family that gave her such a welcome that has soured public opinion to the point that most of us will be glad when they both just clear off and don't come back!

millymouge Sun 08-Mar-20 12:00:26

Don’t know why my sad face didn’t come out

millymouge Sun 08-Mar-20 11:58:57

Personally I hope, and see no reason why not, that their marriage lasts for years and years and years. How people can say what someone’s life and marriage is like by a photo and a few public minutes is beyond me. Look at your own lives and leave other people’s alone. No one is perfect and we all should live our lives as best we can and not spend time criticising others. I am not saying this because I support them, I don’t really care about them, but I just amazes me that some people can be quite so nasty - rant over - I shall now take the dogs out
[sad sad]

Anniebach Sun 08-Mar-20 11:58:12

My comment on Megan was deleted, it was just one word so
no reference or reply to any poster.

maddyone Sun 08-Mar-20 11:53:53

POGS

My comment that was deleted was absolutely not attacking another poster, it was my opinion of Meghan. Someone on here didn’t like it.

maddyone Sun 08-Mar-20 11:51:02

Oldwoman70
I don’t think anyone is remotely interested in whether she was a virgin, thankfully that ridiculous idea died with Diana. Also the British aristocracy idea, after all, Catherine was neither a virgin nor aristocratic, nor Sophie, or any number of people marrying into royalty.

I’m sorry, but I’ve read a great deal of articles about H+M and absolutely none of them have said anything negative about Meghan being mixed race. Why would they? Nor have I seen a negative comment on Gransnet about her being mixed race. Why not? Well it’s because no one is even remotely bothered about her being mixed race, in fact it’s usually viewed as very positive, a sign that the monarchy is open minded and modern.

seacliff Sun 08-Mar-20 11:47:28

That photo is quite revealing - she will not like that! Not the image she wants to portray.

POGS Sun 08-Mar-20 11:44:45

Natasha Gransnet

Why the threat of pulling this thread when there are other threads past and present that are far worse.

Pulling a thread, as opposed to deleting individual posts, is GNHQ aiding and abetting those posters, who are very often repeat offenders, to continue to carry on making personal attacks as is their want. They would love to feel they have achieved their aim to shut down anybody from holding a different opinion to them by a thread being deleted. You will be doing the job for them.

If you feel there are personal comments going against Forum Guidelines deal with those posters but why should posters who spend their time on Gransnet suffer for bad behaviour by the minority.
