Bump

Urmstongran Fri 21-Feb-20 15:44:34

Well I beg to differ on that point sw I think Boris is playing a blinder. Have you even seen his popularity ratings recently? Labour can only dream...

There is also exasperation from the rival camps that while the two women in the race are being criticised for their unabashed support for trans rights, the sole man isn’t facing detailed scrutiny on the issue.”

And if only Labour could come up with a settled position on Trans rights they would regain the working class vote in a trice. We worry about little else in the north.

What someone says whilst running for office and what they do or say once in office are often two very different things as we all know courtesy of BJ for one.

Urmstongran Fri 21-Feb-20 15:31:27

Corbynism massively lost both the votes and the arguments. Return to the 70s statism is not a winning formula for the new challenges of the future. Labour needs to start from scratch. So lets hope that Starmer doesn’t mean any of this nonsense.

Sailed? Sunk.

'Yeah yeah! Madame POGS. How many detentions should I do?'
---
No detentions, just keep proving my point over and over again.

Urmstongran Fri 21-Feb-20 15:17:07

So why is he still banging on about it sw ?

ananimous Fri 21-Feb-20 15:10:20

Labour would have more chance of election if they dusted off Keir Hardie grin

growstuff Fri 21-Feb-20 15:10:11

Is this Project Fear?

suziewoozie Fri 21-Feb-20 15:07:41

Of course the ship has sailed Urm and KS knows it.

ananimous Fri 21-Feb-20 15:05:08

Ed Miliband is going to save Labour, apparently.
(facepalm)

Urmstongran Fri 21-Feb-20 15:00:40

Once KS is leader, he’ll drop all this FMOL stuff

Really sw? has he told you so? What makes you think that?

Or do you, like the Tories, agree that ship has sailed and you just don’t like to hear him still promoting it?

growstuff Fri 21-Feb-20 14:50:36

Yeah yeah! Madame POGS. How many detentions should I do? grin

ananimous Fri 21-Feb-20 14:43:18

@suziewoozie

No prizes for second place... grin

suziewoozie Fri 21-Feb-20 14:40:03

In your dreams animous wishful thinking methinks.

ananimous Fri 21-Feb-20 14:37:25

They can try again in 15 years when they find out what integrity is.

I hope Labour continue to argue against the Brexit result, too - the final nail in Labour's coffin.

suziewoozie Fri 21-Feb-20 14:35:17

Once KS is leader, he’ll drop all this FMOL stuff. The emphasis will be on detailed analysis of the new points system and suggested improvements as the problems appear and PP sinks even further into the morass of her own inadequacy

Urmstongran Fri 21-Feb-20 14:30:41

I’m not sure sw about that. The Tories are loving the fact that KS seems to be doing so well because he has promised free movement of people and as they say - doesn’t he realise that Brexit stormed it?

He’s behind the curve I’m afraid. Yesterday’s man as far as the (Brexit voting) public are concerned.

ananimous Fri 21-Feb-20 14:29:31

They want to stay in...

...The wilderness.

'All that happened was that a journalist asked Jeremy Corbyn if he would be willing to serve on the front bench under the new leader, he replied that he was willing to serve in any capacity.

This has been, as usual, blown up out of all proportion'
-

growstuff Fri 21-Feb-20 13:57:56

'I agree with you Ilovecheese. No reason for the Corbyn haters to be worried. But it makes for a good headline - "Corbyn to stay in new shadow cabinet" (or whatever)'
----

A). The request was for ' Sensible Discussion'.

Using terms such as ' CORBYN HATERS ' against posters who hold a different opinion only serves to try and belittle because to debate/discuss is too difficult for them to engage in so personal insults are their only weapon.

B) It is certainly the case that Corbyn has been put into the frame when it comes to certain Labour Leadership candidates naming him or saying they would be pleased to have them in their Cabinet should they be selected.

So no it is not a right wing rag ' blowing' anything up out of proportion, it comes from the Labour Candidates themselves.

suziewoozie Fri 21-Feb-20 14:17:04

KS will buy and sell BJ in attention to detail and mastery of his brief.

Urmstongran Fri 21-Feb-20 14:06:22

No, I’m for Keir Starmer sooziewoozie. He will have (I think) the most appeal to the wider electorate. Mind you, when he gets up on his hind legs he can bore for England.

Whether his ‘forensic’ intelligence can challenge Boris soundly at the dispatch box remains to be seen. Personally, I think not but he’s the best of a bad bunch in my opinion.

POGS Fri 21-Feb-20 14:02:54

Grandad

'Just to add to my post above POGS, I think that the rumours of Kier Starmer having Edd Miliband in his shadow cabinet should he be elected as leader may have been "put about" by the mischief-making supporters of those opposing him.'
-

Well it has been a quite a clean contest but of course Lisa Nandy had the accusation made by Momentum over the her voting record concerning Maternity Leave but they weirdly omitted to say she didn' t vote in favour because she was on Maternity Leave. Hmm

Keir Starmer had The Labour Party formally reporting members of his leadership campaign team to the Information Commissioner, accusing them of hacking into the party's membership database. If I have a grasp of the situation Rebecca Long Bailey/Momentum Labour Party did very similar. Hmm

As Lisa Nandy said quietly at one of the televised debates when the candidates were talking about how unity and being nice to each other in public was important Lisa Nandy said "in private as well". She knew she had been targeted by Momentum who are firmly behind Rebecca Long Bailey. .

suziewoozie Fri 21-Feb-20 13:58:02

It seems to me that both Urm. and annie want RLB do they can carry on chuntering and criticising Labour. The last thing either want is an effective functioning Labour opposition under KS. Which is in fact what we will get.

growstuff Fri 21-Feb-20 13:57:56

I agree with you Ilovecheese. No reason for the Corbyn haters to be worried. But it makes for a good headline - "Corbyn to stay in new shadow cabinet" (or whatever).

PS. Thank you Cunco for the info about the Metro. To be honest, I hadn't even realised it had moved beyond London and the South East. It's one of the few printed newspapers I ever read because there are always loads of them hanging around in train carriages. It was a clever idea.
