Are you sure, Harry?

Not about your decision to cut and run from your country and family.
Not about bleating that you feel guilty about isolating in a multi-million pound mansion in LA during Lockdown.
Not about suggesting to frazzled parents that they should celebrate the moment, rolling around the floor in hysterics. confused

But....When you made that call asking for money generated by your wedding to be used for feeding children during the pandemic, are you really sure it was the Archbishop of Canterbury who picked up the phone?? grin

The one thing that was good about it, if it’s true, is that the Queen got to see Archie. But no need to tell the world, they’re supposed to be shielding Archie from the world. That’s what Harry said anyway. Though why he needs shielding from the world I’m not sure as a small amount of exposure doesn’t seem to be doing the other royal children any harm.

I can't help but think the zoom birthday chat would have been a bit frosty on Her Majesty's part. And I would guess the lovely statement from Prince Phillip was put out as damage limitation after the D & DoS's recent shenanigans.

Incidentally Harry knows how it works with his family, there was a request that birthday greetings between the queen and her family were to be kept private, so what did H+M do? They blatantly disrespect the request and publish it to the entire world. It really couldn’t be more disrespectful, it’s as if they’ve set out to be as disrespectful as possible. I find it difficult to understand how anyone could defend this behaviour.

maddyone Wed 22-Apr-20 10:52:56

It’s to be hoped that they never want to come back to resume royal duties because I don’t think they’d be accepted by the public any longer. I think they’ve truly burnt their boats since they finally arrived in tinsel town. Even if there was a divorce I think Harry has lost his much loved status. Using Archie in their announcements is vile, they said clearly that that they were ‘protecting’ him from exposure to the press and the public.

Chestnut Wed 22-Apr-20 10:25:34

It is becoming blatantly obvious that every time they submit pictures or information to their selected press outlets it is either contrary to what the RF have requested or to steal the limelight from a Royal announcement. They should be aware that people in this country are watching all this and can see what they are doing.

I agree, Elliane; I think H is out for revenge and sees himself as carrying on the work his mother started, in attempting to destroy the Royal Family, aided and abetted by his unpleasant wife.

Anniebach Wed 22-Apr-20 10:05:05

They are using his Grandmother for publicity

Ellianne Wed 22-Apr-20 10:01:35

This really takes the biscuit!
It's just like the name dropping tactics they employ and the celebrity wedding guest list.
They are nobodies without shouting to everyone they have connections in high places.
Harry hasn't just sank to an all time low, I believe he is now out for revenge and turning very nasty.

Sparklefizz Wed 22-Apr-20 09:24:24

You just have to laugh at them because honestly ......... they are one big joke, I'm sorry to say.

Anniebach Wed 22-Apr-20 08:58:19

They are saying ‘we are still royals, it will help to make money,

It there no depth ? Rock bottom and still drilling.

Jabberwok Wed 22-Apr-20 08:53:56

Is there no depth to which this couple won't sink?! I think Prince Harry has been brain washed! What else can it be?!

Chestnut Tue 21-Apr-20 23:54:29

OMG they're at it again! They have notified 'selected' publications to announce they and Archie had a Zoom birthday chat with the Queen. They have deliberately made this information public after Buckingham Palace said that any birthday calls between the Queen and her family should be private. In my opinion this just stinks of using the Queen for publicity and showing off their Royal connections. Disgusting! This has really been the final straw for me, and I wonder how suziewoozie can possibly defend this awful behaviour.

Glad you enjoyed it PamelaJ1 grin

NotSpaghetti Tue 21-Apr-20 17:43:00

I thought the Victoria Beckham thing was interesting as (correct me if I’m wrong) but she was going to give (some/all) profits from her company - but I thought she’s only ever made a loss so ?..

PamelaJ1 Tue 21-Apr-20 17:41:23

Sparklefizz, I’m glad you put that link, I was laughing out loud this morning.
They will have to put the Times on the list too.

Nanagee57 Tue 21-Apr-20 17:00:47

Well said TerriBull.

Love him or loathe him, Piers Morgan wrote a very good article on Google, apropos of some of our very elderly ex servicemen, who lived through all manner of horrors, but in particular Captain Tom who has done so much for our beleaguered NHS, contrasting it with the smug virtual signalling of both Harry and Meghan and the Beckhams. He states in the article, he has never made it a secret, he has no time for either couple.

I think the time has come, when the public truly have had enough of rich people offering an insight into how they are spending their enforced lockdown in palatial mansions, often not their main residence. A minority of royals, vulgar c'lebs, business people often inhabit similar vacuums where their lives criss cross each other and whilst there is undoubtedly some great philanthropy out there, somehow the words "charitable foundation" produces a scepticism. I think Piers Morgan takes a pot shot at certain people simply because they do everything they can to keep their profiles right up there in the public domain, presumably to validate their existence, or to rub everyone's noses in their conspicuous displays of wealth who knows! Why do they have to constantly up date everyone almost on a daily basis hmm plenty of the wiser ones among their number have the nous not to. There in lies the problem of how the general public perceive them. The late George Michael, who clearly had his demons, quietly gave his money and sometimes his time, I believe he covertly helped out in soup kitchens, but we only learnt after his death, he kept his philanthropy tucked away well under the radar.

So well timed as maddyone said.

Happy Birthday to H.M.. ?wine

Great writing Charles Moore, and thank you Easybee for drawing my attention to it.

Anniebach Tue 21-Apr-20 12:42:08

Harry’s family must be affected by all this, poor Charles and
William and it has always been reported the Queen reads the
newspapers every day.

Jabberwok Tue 21-Apr-20 12:32:14

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to H.M???

maddyone Tue 21-Apr-20 12:26:59

Well said Charles Moore.

eazybee Tue 21-Apr-20 12:23:12

Good comment from the former editor of the Daily Telegraph, Charles Moore, concerning H&M:
'As a writer on one of the few newspapers not cast into darkness by the D&DoS, I suppose I should feel privileged. Actually, I feel a little disappointed. My message to their semi-royal Highnesses is "Please extend to me the 'zero engagement' you have offered my tabloid brothers. At present, the big story is a global virus, killing tens of thousands of people and decimating economies. In these circumstances I would quite like to be released from any opportunity to cover the activities of your new non-profit empire, Archewell, and whatever else you may find to do in Los Angeles."

It’s the Queen’s birthday today, so of course they’ll be making sure they’re in the news too. Via their statement that they don’t want to be in the news.
