Wow! Starmer owns a field. Clearly not fit to be leader

The rag known as the daily mail has clearly been scrabbling around to try and find some dirt on Starmer.

What did they find?

The astonishing news that Starmer purchased the field next to his parents house in order that they could keep donkeys.

He did so apparently by earning the outrageous fee as barrister of £400 ph.

Absolutely shocking don’t you think?

P.S. You generally reckon on 1 horse to an acre. I'd say 2 donkeys equal 1 horse, so maximum 14. That's if you didn't want to temporarily fence off a couple of acres to take hay off for the winter. Then fewer donkeys..

08.54. Sarcasm, Annie

Anniebach Sun 17-May-20 09:01:10

So they employed staff to work in the donkey sanctuary?

Iam64 Sun 17-May-20 09:05:12

Queen's Council, which is what KS was, earn high fees. They also work incredibly hard, long hours in order to do so. KS did so much pro bono work at his Chambers he was advised to do some paid work.

The notion that people who support the LP, or are MP's, or Labour leaders should not be successful in their line of work stinks a bit.

gillybob - if you're referring to the Saville and grooming gangs, you're basing your criticism on false information.

GagaJo Sun 17-May-20 09:08:25

I echo Maizied. What other failings? I know nothing about the bloke.

Nandalot Sun 17-May-20 09:09:53

Gillybob, genuine question. What are Keir Starmer’s ‘other ‘ failures you referred to in your post of 8.40.41?

Nandalot Sun 17-May-20 09:11:41

Sorry Gagajo and Gillybob. Crossed posts!

Furret Sun 17-May-20 09:18:39

Ah yes the The Daily Mail - the paper whose owner did not deny claiming tax concessions as "non-dom", though he insisted this was because his father had lived in France. Lord Rothermere acquired France as his "domicile of birth" upon his birth as his father acquired a French "domicile of choice" by becoming a tax exile in Paris."

Is that the same tax dodger or am I wrong? Isn’t he a big mate of Cameron, who went to the same schools as Boris? No interest to declare? Of course not!

Must be getting desperate if sinking to donkey fields.

GagaJo Sun 17-May-20 09:20:24

Hahaha Furret!

vegansrock Sun 17-May-20 09:22:38

How much did Johnson earn as a journalist writing all those desperately important columns?

Furret Sun 17-May-20 09:27:04

I like donkeys..

...but not in no.10...

Lucca Sun 17-May-20 09:29:38

If this is a pointless thread how about the 83 threads about harry and Meghan.?

Whitewavemark2 Sun 17-May-20 09:29:41

annie I doubt people’s vote depend on which candidate owns a field

My point is that the Daily Mail thinks it does.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 17-May-20 09:32:31

This shows how pathetic the whole story is.

“I've read the Mail on Sunday 'story' twice so that you don't have to. Keir Starmer bought a field behind his parents' house in 1996 so his late mother could care for rescue donkeys. That's it. That's the story. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so emblematic of our broken media.“

Lucca Sun 17-May-20 09:33:44

However I haven’t read the article so can only say it doesn’t actually sound like the man has done anything wrong. Are labour politicians no allowed to earn and spend money?

gillybob Sun 17-May-20 09:33:52

I love donkeys but I would hate one living in a field next to me (not that there are any ....£10 million or otherwise) they’re really cute but very noisy when they start all that braying .

gillybob Sun 17-May-20 09:35:46

Is he really so “out standing in his field”? grin

Love that song by Brad Paisley .

MaizieD Sun 17-May-20 09:50:19

So they employed staff to work in the donkey sanctuary?

No idea, Annie. Why do you ask?

GagaJo Sun 17-May-20 09:54:46

Hahaha gillybob.

timetogo2016 Sun 17-May-20 09:56:53

Iv`e yet to hear of a poor polition.
So whats new.

gillybob Sun 17-May-20 10:00:15

I don’t think there are any timetogo2016 . Not that I think they should be (poor that is ). Just open, honest and understanding . Can’t think of any that fit that criteria either.

gillybob Sun 17-May-20 10:01:43

Slightly off topic but did anyone live in fear of “getting brayed” when they were kids? I know I did . grin

Whitewavemark2 Sun 17-May-20 10:03:25

I adore donkeys. They are so gentle

Cindersdad Sun 17-May-20 10:10:49

Kier Starmer is not perefct but less imperfect than others and our best hope for a better class of politicians. Seeing Michael Gove on Andrew Marr right now he does not inspire confidence, still blatantly ducking issues.

Greeneyedgirl Sun 17-May-20 10:17:07

Isn't the DMs job to try to discredit Labour Leaders, particularly if they appear to be gaining in popularity and their man is struggling?

Sign of encouragement for the Labour Party I would say.
