Gardenofengland. Sorry but it is not political and it has nothing at all to do with brexit. It is to do with the PMs advisor disregarding the rules.

News breaking tonight that Dominic Cummings and his wife, when ill with Covid-19, put their child in the car and drove 260 miles from London to Durham so that they could isolate at his parent's place and his parents look after the child. This happened some time after 27th March. Remember lockdown was imposed on 23rd March.
Seen in his parent's garden with his child on 5th April.
Neil Fergusson resigned because his lover visited his house after lockdown.
Scotland's Chief Medical Officer had to resign after visiting her second home twice after lockdown.
Cummings and his wife drive 260 miles to stay with his parents (who must be in their 60s at the very least)... What will he do?

Story is in most of the MSM now.
Gardenofengland. Sorry but it is not political and it has nothing at all to do with brexit. It is to do with the PMs advisor disregarding the rules.
What a lot of tosh, GardenofEngland.
No-one is thinking of Brexit.
Most people want rid of this malevolent presence at the heart of Government.
What are Civil Servants for, except to guide Ministers? These SPADS have taken over that rôle and made Civil Servants superfluous.
It is a dangerous route to take.
I think you will find, Gardenofengland, that many people who have disagreed on other threads, on other issues, are united on here with regard to this.
I'm fuming, too.
I rarely get het up, particularly about things I can't change, but this has me seething.
Just emailed my MP, too.
The weird thing is that Cummings has become the very thing he professes to hate.
A member of the elite bureaucracy.
I suppose he's realised the very many privileges it brings.
Wasn't it George Orwell in Animal Farm who said "everyone is equal but some are more equal than others"?
Although Callistemon, I still don’t quite agree with Varian!

Well, mostly!
Re the lies and integrity
Gardenofengland you are so, so wrong!
paddyann Nicola Sturgeon most definitely did cover up or try to cover up the large outbreak of Covid 19. She's come out with all sorts of excuses but they gave all been disproved. They've even admitted, eventually, that they might have done things differently.
My son who works in hospitality caught coronavirus shortly afterwards. He'd served delegates at that conference.
I was so, so angry tonight watching our PM comment on the fiasco of Dominic Cummings!! Boris Johnson dismissed the altercation quite casually!
! Up until now I have supported him totally in this awful Coronavirus situation , as its totally unprecedented . OK, there are times when I’ve thought, ‘Hmm, could do better!’ But after today I have totally lost faith with BoJo !!
How dare these ministers bend the truth and manipulate a situation to suit themselves!!
There are thousands of families who have concerns about their own health, poorly children , many of whom are one parent families , and they have to make a call, ‘Do I go to work, ask family members for childcare support, or just ‘wing it’ !
Boris Johnson has never had 100% of my support, but I thought he’s doing his best, until now!!
I’ve totally lost all faith
with him and I’m sure many will be of the same mind!!
Come on Boris, man up, and show your electrolate you’re up for the job!!
None of it makes sense.
For a start, which one was ill? In some accounts, it's Cummings, in others it's his wife, or both of them. Who was ill when they made the journey? Mrs Cummings wrote about caring for their boy while Dominic was ill. So, was she okay? Did they stay in Durham long enough for both of them to have the virus and recover?
We are told, in sanctimonious tones, that Cummings just wanted childcare for a 4 year old. Leaving aside the question of getting childcare from London-based friends and relatives, or paying a nanny, at first they were supposed to be going to his parents. Then, when people started talking about the risk of killing his mum and dad, the story changed. They were in a separate house. They were looking after the child themselves. So why couldn't they do that in London?
No, they had to go to Durham because his sister had to bring them food. Do her London relatives hate them so much that they would let them starve?
Has Dominic Cummings never heard of Deliveroo?
Seriously, I think of those photos of doctors and nurses holding up signs, begging people to stay at home, and I feel so angry.
gardenofengland the reaction to Cummings behaviour is nothing to do with politics just plain reaction to the unfairness.
lizzypopbottle sorry but if it were my family I would have traveled to help. If you read the guidance it clearly say you can go to anyone in distress or in need of help
Oh Gardenofenland this has absolutely nothing to do with brexit, you are clutching at straws! Brexit is done, this has everything to do with integrity and trust; which Boris has just demonstrated he is sadly lacking.
At that time Oldjude the police, especially in Derbyshire, could well have pulled you over and turned you around.
I don’t think cummings’ parents and sister were in need of help or in distress. So why go when they have family and the means to get help and food delivered etc.in London. I think there was a birthday bash, maybe that’s the reason.
Blimey Cummings is being heckled by his neighbours as he walks down his road.
I think Johnson has totally underestimated how furious the people are.
The Guardian just now:
Dominic Cummings is facing a possible police investigation under health laws over a claim that he breached self-isolation rules in north-east England, after a weekend of mounting pressure on the prime minister to sack his chief adviser.
Retired chemistry teacher Robin Lees made a complaint to the police after reporting that he saw Cummings and his family on 12 April walking in the town of Barnard Castle before getting into a car, a joint investigation by the Guardian and Mirror can reveal.
But he insists he never went out of the house for 14 days until he went back to London? More lies.
It has been revealed apparently DC’s son is autistic. Having a child with autism in the family it changes how I feel about this issue.
All our immediate/extended family know who and where this child feels safe.
So, for those who thought that allegations of him breaking his isolation whilst in Durham was just malicious gossip:
He also provided the number plate of the car he saw Cummings drive away in. The email said: “I assume you are able to view CCTV to ascertain whether this vehicle travelled locally or from further away.”
Gotcha!
Would he have felt safe in his own home with both of his parents?
Boris stated that Cummings was anticipating being ill.
MaizieD...it makes me so mad that people do not get all the facts before posting. He and his wife did not go and stay with the elderly parents....they stayed at a house nearby where his sister brought essentials and left them on the doorstep for him and his wife. The couple needed the help for their child and that is why they made the journey probably to their nearest relatives. But they did not stay with the elderly parents as you state. Please read the whole facts.
Surely, if his child is autistic, the family should have planned in advance for any eventuality. Especially as he, unlike the rest of us, knew when lockdown would happen and what rules would be in place. If this man is effectively running the country, it has to be worrying that his own personal life was so shambolic. What do they do with the child when they're both working? Is his wife a freelance journalist or is she employed by The Spectator? It must be embarrassing for them to have printed an article full of lies.
