He will not resign or be sacked. You simply can’t do that to the man who, at a time of national crisis, is, as we all know, running the country.
Please help! (grandchild being locked in bedroom)
News breaking tonight that Dominic Cummings and his wife, when ill with Covid-19, put their child in the car and drove 260 miles from London to Durham so that they could isolate at his parent's place and his parents look after the child. This happened some time after 27th March. Remember lockdown was imposed on 23rd March.
Seen in his parent's garden with his child on 5th April.
Neil Fergusson resigned because his lover visited his house after lockdown.
Scotland's Chief Medical Officer had to resign after visiting her second home twice after lockdown.
Cummings and his wife drive 260 miles to stay with his parents (who must be in their 60s at the very least)... What will he do?

Story is in most of the MSM now.

suziewoozie yes, it is.
So should anyone that dense (and arrogant)have any say whatsoever in the government of this country?
I have been checking the news every hour or so hoping to read of his resignation.
Seems to be one rule for them and a different one for the rest of us.
There is a petition calling for his resignation, if anyone is interested.
His wife’s article demonstrates that she is prepared to omit important relevant points from an article. Is this journalism? Will the Spectator publish a correction? Similarly will the Today programme clarify how her item on 25 April was misleading? Nah - she and they are part of the whole no 10 propaganda machine.
Thanks Suzie. Clearly put.
I was about to quote that Chewbacca.
'Who cares...' and 'It's not about what you guys think.'
SUCH disregard for the country. I already thought this, from the way he led the Brexit campaign (it's OK, I'm not going on a Brexit rant!). He has no moral scruples whatsoever. He will lie and cheat as a means to an end. I'm sure he couldn't give a flying f**k whether he infected anyone on their way to Durham (I've done the drive myself, on a regular basis. There is NO WAY it's a nonstop drive).
*The PM's top aide Dominic Cummings says he did the "right thing" by travelling 260 miles to^ be near relatives during the coranavirus lockdown - adding that he did not care what it looked
like. Asked whether it looked good, he said: "Who cares about good looks? It's a question of doing the right thing. It's not about what you guys think." Downing Street said he wanted to ensure he had childcare if he got symptoms.
So what was all the bullshit about from his wife when she said that he was confined to bed for 10 days with severe breathlessness after contracting the coronavirus, his wife has revealed. Writing in The Spectator, Mary Wakefield said her husband should have been hospitalised when his symptoms worsened.
The simple solution was for the sister to come and fetch the child. It’s so blindingly obvious
jabber the issue isn't about whether he was fined.
It's the fact that number 10 have denied them even visiting, to have a word, which is what the police have said.
Anyone defending this man is a total hypocrite. He was wrong. HE was probably the one who put together most of the rules. Yet he thinks he's above them.
If they needed childcare help and it had to be a grandparent, the grandparent should have gone to the Cummings London home. NOT two people that were infectious, undertaking a journey of that length. It is disgusting that they thought it was acceptable to do that.
I don't for one moment suppose that house only has one bathroom. He/they should have isolated in their room/s and used one bathroom while the grandparent and child used the other/s.
It is nothing other than selfishness and hypocrisy.
Sack him.
Wonder who will be doing the briefing today? Don't envy them, but the press are tame, still could make for an awkward few minutes. Well a bit more awkward than usual.
paddy whatever makes you think that having morals and being a government apologist have anything in common?
Jabber so that’s the best you can come up with is it after several hours of cogitating? Utterly utterly pathetic - beyond rubbish, worthy of Cummings.
Oh, you're beautiful when you're angry.
Totally unsurprised that No.10 have defended the un defendable. Poor Boris couldnt cope without him. He has said he wont resign and Boris will do nothing.
Havnt read the whole thread but heard today on r4 that neighbours looked over the fence to see them all dancing to Abba. Ill with covid? having driven 260 miles? Without a stop or three ( esp with a child)?
Totally unacceptable. I rest my case.
Morals dont come into it for you then Jabberwok? The fact everyone else in the country was told IF you show symptoms ..isolate ..everyone else in the home should ISOLATE for 24 days ..not drag a child in acar 250 miles to GP's when we were ALL told to safeguard the elderly .Of course the law only applies to the masses not the tories !! You OK with that? Hypocrisy is just fine?Tories RULE ..OK ..could be the enxt gang slogan for them along with Stay alert
What on Earth is a tolerant liberal society to do with leaving litter?
It depends on your job.
My daughter gave birth during lock down by c section, sent home from hospital with 24 hours for reasons of safety supposedly, although more likely because they were desperately short of staff. She can't manage at home because she can't walk nor lift the baby, midwives won't do home visits so no advice. I thought I wasn't able to help out but now it seems I can - thanks Mr Cummings, Mr Gove et al.
At least they didn't leave any litter!!! I think a lot of the issues with people flocking to beauty spots is the revolting mess they are leaving behind for others to clear up! The results of decades of our tolerant liberal society!!
I understood that the penalty for breaking lockdown rules was a fine, not losing your job? The fact that the police didn't fine Mr Cummings is a police matter! As with Stephen Kinnock, they presumably had their reasons!
Number 10 have defended his actions and called the police liars.
The Leader of the House of Commons, none other than Jacob Rees-Mogg is urging (ordering?) MPs to 'set an example' and get back to work in Parliament. Why should Boris and his retinue (including Cummings) not also be told to set an example and stop driving to and fro against the rules?
What scrap of credibility and trust that remained in the government, hard to believe after all the cock ups, must have well and truly gone now.
