Can you think of a Prime Minister worse than Johnson?

I don’t mean whether you agree with certain political policies, I am talking about competence, knowledge and integrity.

I truthfully can’t think of a single one.

All PMs have a weakness, no doubt but this goes beyond anything I’ve every seen or read.

Didn't Harold and Mary have two sons? Not a daughter as far as I remember.

It’s late moon

Grandad1943 Sat 06-Jun-20 22:29:18

Oh, apologies to you Lemongrove and all. ?

lemongrove Sat 06-Jun-20 22:27:31

Nope...he was a Tory MP and furthermore...is gay.?

Grandad1943 Sat 06-Jun-20 22:15:43

I believe that Matthew Parris was at one time a strong Labour supporter. I may be right in thinking that he is or was married to Harold Wilsons Daughter.

growstuff Sat 06-Jun-20 21:46:15

I wonder if this is an internal Conservative Party dispute and the G--l--ove is off.

Grandad1943 Sat 06-Jun-20 21:41:12

Yes much scandal in the family but that is being brought in by outsiders to the detriment of all in our family MaizieD.

Anyway back to the thread topic. ?

growstuff Sat 06-Jun-20 21:40:04

Matthew Parris is a bit more than a random Conservative-voting journalist. He was a Conservative MP when Thatcher was PM.

MaizieD Sat 06-Jun-20 21:33:44

Sounds interesting, though, Grandad... hmm

Grandad1943 Sat 06-Jun-20 21:31:32

Apologies the above was meant for our family WhatsApp group.

Bit of family candle. ?

Grandad1943 Sat 06-Jun-20 21:29:45

Apparently, Jeremy rang up patsy and told her they had got all the messages restored. He then quoted a couple of the messages to her to prove that had been done. She then went very quiet he said.

Jabberwok Sat 06-Jun-20 20:18:19

FGS,all I said was, 'would a J.C government have managed any better, I doubt it'! Hardly a hanging remark!!

lemongrove Sat 06-Jun-20 19:53:37

The Tory Party were the ones that insisted they wanted him as PM so they will have to chill out for a bit.?

Not the electorate but the Tory party.

lemongrove Sat 06-Jun-20 19:45:23

Am sure there is Whitewave but there also was for T May if you remember. Two completely differing characters, she was hard working, a details person, happily married, chose her words with care etc etc and yet.....He may well be none of those things and yet still get things done.He may not get them done either ?but the point is, he has to be allowed some time as PM for the electorate to decide that.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 06-Jun-20 19:30:07

The point is though lemon that The Spectator is prepared to publish such a critical article.

There is no doubt that there is a great deal of unease at Johnson’s limitations.

varian Sat 06-Jun-20 19:24:02

I guess most of the Tory MPs, if not most of their party members, already know that.

When I was telling for the LibDems at the last election, I was with two Tory women who were pro-EU, and clearly knew what a fraud Johnson was, but for them, it was always going to be party before country, no matter how much damage was done.

Ilovecheese Sat 06-Jun-20 19:19:18

Mathew Parris is the little boy who first shouted out that the Emperor was wearing no clothes. I bet others from the Tory party will follow.

lemongrove Sat 06-Jun-20 19:18:13

That’s one journalist Whitewave just as Matthew Parris is one Conservative voting journalist. He has had run ins with Johnson over the years and become very bitter about leaving the EU.He tends to rant now.

That was a good post Grandad1943 ....even though I don’t agree with most of your views. You may well be the only Socialist on here who is also a realist.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 06-Jun-20 19:08:09

The Tory Party supporting Spectator

"There is little escaping an obvious reality: this is a PM without clothes. The country can see this, even if cabinet Ministers & Tory MP's pretend not to. He is what he is & he is not up to the job."

Wow.

Eloethan Sat 06-Jun-20 18:38:50

I think the fact that this country has recorded over 40,000 deaths - and still rising - speaks for itself.

On Tuesday, The I reported:

"The Joint Biosecurity Centre (JBC) was announced by the Prime Minister three weeks ago, its job being to monitor the number of Covid-19 cases and the transmission rate of the disease. [my emphasis].

"Yet, as England moved into phase two of its lockdown easing, Mr Hancock told the Downing Street daily briefing that the JBC "still formally needs to come into existence."

A fancy organisation name and a multi-coloured graph denoting different threat levels does not convince me. It appears that the threat level was decided upon before the organisation responsible for assessing it was fully operational. It is farcical.

Great post Grandad1943 well said!

Sorry All just realized I made a mistake as Enoch Powell was not a Prime Minister I was thinking of something else.
