Trump scrapes the bottom of the barrel

I am astounded that no-one has commented on Trump’s crass and cynical photoshoot standing outside the church in Washington and brandishing a bible, having deployed guards using teargas to clear his way there. Not to mention dragging Melania along to the shrine of John Paul II for more photos when neither of them set foot in church from one month to the next. Surely any Christian should be outraged at his manipulation of their religion? Though apparently evangelical Christians think he’s doing a good job.(??????!!!!!)

I read in a newspaper that a very frustrated presidential aide was quoted as saying everything written down and handed to Trump has to be in very simplistic language as in “See Jane Run” which most 5 year olds would not struggle with ?

as someone who lives n he USA I am repulsed, angered disgusted by his behavior on a daily basis. so many of us are. yet there remain a group who continue to support him, no matter what he says or does. I fear if he gets another 4 years it is the end of our democracy.

Seems to me there's not much point posting about Trump. It's not as if he takes any notice when he is told directly what people think of his attitudes and actions. It's very hard to pray for him, I find.

Newatthis. Law of averages....probably but not admitting it..

Tilly712 Wed 03-Jun-20 13:54:56

@travelsafar You just needed to watch some of the interviews held with his devotees. I think they were even scarier than Trump! Trump is a loud mouth bully, who gets away with it because he is so arrogant and utterly believes he can get away with anything. Anyone who disagrees with him is quickly branded a liar or fake. He gets by on big sound bites and creating chaos wherever he goes, so no-one can actually question him on any specifics. Unfortunately his twin got voted in over here in the UK, and he is as much as a disgrace as Trump.

Oopsminty Wed 03-Jun-20 13:45:03

I can't imagine him getting a second term

However I was watching Jeremy Vine earlier

Not sure where in USA the footage was filmed.

A small group of peaceful demonstrators were walking past some houses. There was a massive 'fence' that had been erected outside properties.

All the owners were stood there clutching machine guns and rifles and goodness knows what type of guns. Grim faced as the walkers past by.

Unbelievable

How can he even think that people all over the world let alone in America believe he is a God fearing person and follows the bible!!!!

Jane43 Wed 03-Jun-20 13:41:04

I have a good friend in Minnesota. She despises Trump and everything he stands for but says the vast majority of people she knows are Trump supporters despite the fact that the Governor is a Democrat. She predicts a Trump, landslide because he will continue to stoke the divisions and claim to be The Law And Order President which is his Plan B because his Plan A was to be The President who saved The Economy which he had to ditch because of COVID19. Yes some people think he is a genius because he has claimed to be on more than one occasion calling himself ‘a stable genius’ and many Americans believe everything that comes out of his mouth; there are many victims of his failed business ventures to show that is the case.

Grannynannywanny Wed 03-Jun-20 13:40:05

The next time we see the despicable Trump with a bible in his hand hopefully it will be in a court of law when he’s about to stand trial.

JuneRose Wed 03-Jun-20 13:39:04

The problem is who can stop him? Surely those around him can see what we see, or are they all too terrified to speak up? He's obviously a very powerful man. One wonders where all this will end ? Right minded people in America must be in despair.

Tilly712 Wed 03-Jun-20 13:23:53

@Esmeralda that quote is the most accurate description I have ever seen of Trump. He is a terrible human being but what is most scary is that many Americans who spout the same vile sentiments will vote for him again.

helgawills Wed 03-Jun-20 13:06:03

Elegran, sorry, I did not mean to generalise, should have started A lot of....Having watched videos of church services, where couples brought their gun in to be blessed, I despair.

Trump scrapes the bottom of the barrel is an under statement
he is the bottom of the barrel. He is a war mongering ill equipped man of diminished intelligence and needs to be removed from the White House a.s.a.p. he is whipping up every tension he can in U.S.A. and the country is in tatters.
He could not even handle the pandemic in a responsible way and then it hit home the brutality of the American police department. Racism in the U.S.A is nothing new it has been bubbling up for years and it looks just like the sixties again when we had the peaceful and wonderful influence of the late Martin Luther King sadly shot for wanting a better U.S.A. for black people. Trump is loving the furore and violence being acted out in disturbing film and pictures on our T.V. screens and it is turning away from the sadistic murder of the man choked to death by that brutal police officer. Enough is enough and Trump should be stopped before any more damage is done.

A few posters have said that it is at least in America but the thing is it is spreading over to the U.K . and nobody seems to care and like someone else pointed out we have Boris and he is a great mate of Trumps and I can't think why.
Black people in U.K are now kicking off about black lives matter (I am in agreement of that) but all this is beginning to stink and all around are losing the plot a bloody great way to be coming out of lockdown don't you think?

lilydily9 Wed 03-Jun-20 12:56:24

Nothing Trump does should surprise us anymore. I just hope that come November he is removed from the White House and America gets a President the world can respect.

Chickenfeet Wed 03-Jun-20 12:53:47

Bird of the feather stick together ,a lot of Americans shared his idea n agreed his actions. A bad bankrupt business man using the same tactics to run the country. Most scary a lot of other countries following his orders like Canada n Australia n UK

Bamm Wed 03-Jun-20 12:37:36

Nannan2 personally I think that there is a great deal of difference between Boris and the horror that is Trump!

Tanjamaltija Wed 03-Jun-20 12:35:27

If you go to my Facebook page you'd see what I had to say about it! I also posted a note from someone who was forcibly removed from the area.

Bamm Wed 03-Jun-20 12:30:29

SaraC I think that you are quite right in your analysis . There are a great many Americans that are just appalled by Trump . My son and his family live in the USA, in the south, they and many others in their state have been driven to peaceful action by this administration.

sodapop Wed 03-Jun-20 12:26:29

Generalisations again rowyn the whole of USA did not vote for Trump, did the whole of UK vote for Boris I think not.

Cymres1 Wed 03-Jun-20 12:01:09

Not that I would advocate violence in any way, but what surprises me is that no whacko over there has tried to take a pot shot at him. But then I suppose all the whacko fruitcakes are his supporters. Explains a lot.
There's nothing I don't think he wouldn't sink to, it staggers me that when there are decent, kind,, intelligent people in the USA he's getting away with this insanity. Don't they understand the rest of the world sees him as a dangerous clown?

Theoddbird Wed 03-Jun-20 11:59:01

Nothing that man does surprises me now. He will do whatever it takes to get a vote. Once he is out of the Whitehouse his wife will divorce him. She is starting to look very uncomfortable...

grandtanteJE65 Wed 03-Jun-20 11:57:52

Surely, no American citizen of Afro-American, Chinese, Jewish, Hispanic descent, to name but a few, will be prepared to vote for Trump after this?

I doubt that very many practising Christians outside the fundamentalistic Bible belt will either.

He may well find that he has cooked his own goose!

Nannan2 Wed 03-Jun-20 11:51:20

Well Obama's back in the running for election this time, isnt he? So everyone will vote for him i guess..anyway we Brits cant moan- some voted Bumbling Boris in for us so theres not much difference!grinhmm

Aepgirl Wed 03-Jun-20 11:51:00

The more I see of Trump’s antics the more I think he’s too dangerous to be so powerful.

Newatthis Wed 03-Jun-20 11:47:32

So - is there anyone out there who loves Trump? I have an English friend that lives in the USA and she adores him. It is like she is perpetually walking through a tunnel of light and at the end there is Trump and she cannot see outside of this tunnel, almost evangelical. So, if there is anyone out there who is a Trump fan can they please say why as I am sure many of us can't understand what it is that all his fans see in him.
