A fun and believable one though Maizie.

MaizieD Tue 07-Jul-20 20:27:15

Those are ridiculous reasons not to vote.

I didn't say that they were particularly valid reasons, just that that was a reason why people didn''t vote.

I've heard some pretty ridiculous reasons for voting, too...

The Archer thread turned out to be a hoax, BTW.

FarNorth Tue 07-Jul-20 20:17:48

I think that many people didn't vote because they didn't realise how much anti EU feeling had been stirred up by targeted advertising on social media and they couldn't conceive that so many people would be daft enough to vote leave.

Those are ridiculous reasons not to vote.
Whatever a vote is about, if you don't vote you have no right to complain when you don't like the result.

I second a blow by blow of idiot son's meeting with the Mayor. I presume idiot son speaks French? No? All the more reason, then, to tell us about it grin

Fennel Wed 01-Jul-20 20:57:44

ps I meant Brexit and its implications was one of the reasons we returned.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 01-Jul-20 20:20:35

Fennel

Oh dear - I've just managed to read the original link!
Having returned 2 years ago from living in France for 17 years I can tell you this kind of story isn't just a myth or a joke. We met several british people there with this type of attitude. Not sure where it comes from but it's quite common in France. Maybe more so in Spain.
One of the reasons we returned.

My family lived in Spain before it was part of EU, sorry some expats have no clue.

Despite this being such a serious matter (people not understanding what Brexit actually meant) this is hilarious! GGumteenth please post the link of what transpires when idiot son has his meeting with the Mayor. ???

MaizieD Wed 01-Jul-20 18:34:35

20 years younger would do for me, Fennel grin

Fennel Wed 01-Jul-20 18:21:38

Maizie completely agree.
If I was 50+ years younger I would be part of a revolution to get rid of them.
Why can't the youth of today make the effort?

MaizieD Wed 01-Jul-20 17:55:06

I am very annoyed that I can no longer travel freely in 27+ European countries without the hoo haa of visas, travel insurance and international driving licences.

And that the effect of the vote has been to land us with lying, incompetent charlatan for a prime minister who is being controlled by an unelected spad bent on destroying the foundations of our constitution and parliamentary democracy.

And the very likely break up of the 'United' Kingdom.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 01-Jul-20 17:09:43

* I should read If

GrannyGravy13 Wed 01-Jul-20 17:08:48

I will repost not quoting paddyanne

I more people who wanted to remain in the EU had bothered to vote in June 2016 we would not have left on 31/12/2019, simples!!!!

If it makes people feel better to blame those that used their democratic right to vote rather than those who couldn’t be bothered to vote Hey Ho!!

Jabberwok Wed 01-Jul-20 16:56:21

Par for the course I'm afraid GG13 where Paddyann is concerned! Some of us are very weary with this endless vitriol, so much so that we don't even bother to comment upon it anymore!!

Agree, it's priceless. And those stupid people (I was going to write something ruder but thought it might be removed) have made it more difficult for those of us who were happy with the EU and wanted to stay in. I'm psyching myself up to completing all the residence forms. Life was much easier before all this.

For some obscure reason your link doesn't lead to the whole thread, *GGumpteenth.

It does lead to his first tweet, then you have to click somewhere in the tweet to open the whole thread.

I don't know why it's not going directly to the thread, I tried opening the thread and copying the URL but it had exactly the same result as your link. hmm

I spent a long time reading it yesterday grin

I doubt if our Gnet Brexiters will care - it's not really their problem, is it?

GGumteenth Wed 01-Jul-20 11:18:23

I have spent far too much time reading this. There are plenty of quotes I could take from it but I thought I should leave you to choose.
