What's wrong with quietly supporting your husband in what will one day be a very difficult role? Why do modern women have to be assertive, aggressive and downright unattractive to be approved of? Katherine is a fantastic support to William as are the other royal ladies to their spouses and are certainly not as is sneeringly put, 1950's wives! Just because they quietly get on with whatever they are doing without making a song and dance and drawing attention to themselves does not mean that they sit at home being submissive. Even if they were, so what, helping and supporting isn't exactly a hanging offense!

Interesting maddyone. that you take as gospel all the things that have been said about the men in her life but disregard her own views. The education she has said was paid for through grants, scolarships and her working (her father says he had a lottery win- he couldn't have afforded it otherwise). The marriage broke down because she was filming Suits in Toronto and he was based in LA. Possibly that's why she decided to give up her career and come to the UK.
As far as I know she isn't estranged from her mother.
Who has she 'trodden on"? She isn't 'strong and decisive"? But I thought that was what you were all moaning about she was taking the decisions and leading Harry around by the ear.
Ellianne but doesn't that happen to a lot of people you meet the in-laws a few times and they seem OK then you spend Christmas or the holidays with them and vow never again.

Well she’s certainly full of self importance as far as I can see. I don’t recognise the description’......a strong and decisive woman.....’ because as I see it, Meghan has used men to climb her way to the top. Firstly, her father paid for her very expensive education which undoubtedly helped her develop her career. She has denied this and rewarded him with estrangement. She married a man who was a successful producer in Hollywood. It was his influence that landed her the part in Suits, which was her most successful role. She then divorced him and sent her rings back through the post apparently, this has been verified by one of her ex friends. She then met Harry, by her own admission this was a date set up by a friend, and courted him and married him. She was offered ‘no title’ by the Queen prior to marriage so that she could continue to work, but this was declined. She wanted a title to further her career. In the shortest possible time she has managed to virtually estrange Harry from his family after having estranged her entire family apart from her mother.

Does a strong and decisive woman estrange her entire family? Does she persuade her husband to virtually estrange his family? Does she use men to climb her way to the top? Does she blank every friend she ever had who says or does something she dislikes?

I think not. A strong woman quietly gets on with her work, is reliable, and truly caring. She doesn’t tread on other people to crawl to the top. She doesn’t use her position to get herself advantages. There are many strong and decisive women in this world. Meghan isn’t one of them.

Feminism is fine, as is having a voice or empowerment etc..etc. and to be applauded.
What IS wrong is the way Meghan cunningly made herself part of the RF to do so, and the way she then complained about all aspects of it.

I wonder how some posters reconcile the feminism they profess to believe in with their absolute condemnation of Meghan. She is a strong decisive woman who built a career for herself. Many are now saying the move is her decision and not Harry's. But shouldn't women support her and her lifestyle choices?
And before anyone comes on to tell me I have criticised Kate, I have indeed but my criticism was of the role she has assumed which as far as I can see is the equivalent of a 1950s housewife and does little to move forward or even acknowledge the position of women today.

We all have our own opinions on people in the public eye,
some criticise Meg for lack of dignity, others defend her,
same with Katie Price.

Absolutely, very well put. I think this ‘self importance’ is what is really stirring people up. No one likes being lectured to, especially from a couple who are such conspicuous consumers. And the clips I’ve seen where Meghan crosses her hands over her chest as if she’s the latest Mother Theresa are particularly galling.
The posters who claim other posters are ‘haters’ because of what they express about Meghan and Harry seem to miss the small point that if only M+H would just get on with their lives quietly, if they would not lecture the rest of us about how we should live, and if they would stop using the Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles to make millions and live quietly on their not unsubstantial personal wealth, then other posters would stop criticising M+H.

Silence is golden. How true, and how I long for it in relation to M+H.

Harry pays back £2.4m, but continues to have exclusive use of Frogmore Cottage. Their statement claims the cottage belongs to the Queen. It does not. It is property of the Crown Estate which is there to raise revenue for the Treasury.

We need to know why the Crown Estate allows Harry to keep possession of Frogmore and how much rent he is paying for the property.

Absolutely Anniebach Kate might have done it once or twice whereas with Meghan it was every day and became so noticeable. Can't really compare the two in all fairness.

There is some kind of serenity about Kate and the Middleton family. Most people whether they are interested or not, have respect for them.
With Meghan this translates into puffed up self importance.

Jaber so right, Kate had so much flack from the press, she remained silent. Her mother was mocked because she had been an air hostess , silence.

I don't think anyone apart from the Duchess of Cornwall has taken more flak from the media than the Duchess of Cambridge. The relentless personal cruel comments about her, weighty Katie. her dress sense, her voice, the list is endless! Not once has she or PW complained (whined) to all and sundry about hard done by she is, and that she has to flee for the sake of her nerves!! One very dignified royal lady, the other, on the make, using the RF to further her acting, now saving mankind agenda! As for baby bumps! I seem to remember Katherine being constantly berated from her lack of stylish maternity wear, and the weight she was or wasn't putting on! Both wrong of course!

I agree with Jabberwok, merlotgran and eazybee. I wish they would go away and live quietly. But I’m absolutely positive that Meghan does not want to live quietly. Who on earth releases all the none events about them to the press, whether it’s the gutter press or The Telegraph? Somebody thinks this rubbish about planting Forget Me Nots and all the other stunts they’ve pulled is interesting to the public, and somebody wants it to be known by the public. In other words, these insignificant events have been released. That’s not living quietly.

i am glad that they have paid the debt owed for frogmore, harry will need somewhere to stay when she get's fed up with him
