Vienna shooting: Arrests after Vienna attacked by 'freed jihadist'

So sad.
Also the UK terrorism threat level has been raised from substantial to severe. I'm assuming intelligence thinks an attack may be imminent on our shores.

It's interesting that again, the "freed Jihadist" had successfully completed a de-radicalisation course in prison.

I haven't been involved with those courses. My experience of men who have successfully completed the courses aimed domestic abuse, is that all too often, they can write the poem but continue the abuse.

It’s no good raising the terrorism threat when the security services admit there aren’t enough operatives to keep tabs on all the ones they know about. We are throwing the doors open to them constantly and they are treating us like the fools we are.

What can one say about this other than enough is enough.
Time to pull up the drawbridge and prevent such individuals being in Europe and Britain in the first place. First criminal offence and out they go.

I'm not defending any terrorists sparklingsiver28, I've indicated my concern about de-radicalisation.
But, where would you send them?

“Back where they came from” I assume

No matter if they were born in Europe.

Send them back to the Middle East

What about jihadists born in the UK? What would you do with them?

I wish I could share it from twitter to here but I just saw a recording of the Egyptian President talking to a group of young people. In it he said that countries who spend their time in internal conflicts (he named Pakistan, Somalia and others) should not expect European countries to open their doors to them. Neither should they expect to maintain their own way of life if they get there. That's a rapid summary but it's what he said. It was great to hear.

varian I felt moved that while the police asked people to stay inside, the Vienna Philharmonics gave anencorefor the audience holed up in the Vienna State Opera House. Vienna is synonymous with music, so a sort of statement was being made.

Police in Slovakia have revealed that "suspects from Austria" tried to buy ammunition there in the summer and that Austrian authorities were tipped off.

Four people were fatally shot and 23 others wounded when a gunman went on the rampage in the centre of Vienna on Monday night.

It has since emerged he had been released early from a jail sentence for trying to join jihadists in Syria.

Reports suggest his trip to buy bullets failed as he had no gun licence.

According to German media, the 20-year-old, who was shot dead by police, travelled to neighbouring Slovakia in July to buy ammunition for a Kalashnikov AK-47 assault rifle but returned empty-handed.
