How confident are you in a good deal for the UK?

Just that really. Watching the News tonight and it seems there are conflicting views, as always.

“We probably need to accept that their commitment to how they define the Single Market is even more fundamental than we had appreciated."

Fundamental indeed, finally they realize that the interests of EU members are more important than the UK. The whole Brexit gang should be flogged in the street, it’s the biggest political failure since?.

“Most of the IT needed by the UK to make Brexit work from 1 January is not ready. But the EU seems to have got its act together. When it all falls apart we should remember this. The gov’t wanted Brexit and failed to plan for it. Which pretty sums up everything about this fiasco.”

Murphy.

This from the chair of Vote Leave. You know the crowd that were responsible for what is happening to us?

The comment is beyond belief

“Chair of Vote Leave, Gisela Stuart, on @SkyNews: "No Deal is not a preferred option for either side, but the solution is now a political one... We probably need to accept that their commitment to how they define the Single Market is even more fundamental than we had appreciated."

Because it’s Friday many will not hold a position over the weekend, they will “buy” to reduce risk. It will be volatile today for sure.

Callistemon

If I knew what a short position was I could have made a couple of billion.

A “Short” position is where you sell a currency or commodity hoping to buy it back later at a lower price.
Most trading is by computers these days margins are often very small, you can win or loose in less than 1 second.
Sterling did slide back to around £1.08 /euro where it has been for 6 months.

Amateurs loose a lot of money very fast.

We ignored the warnings and voted for Johnson regardless.

Look where it has got us. We have got exactly what we voted for.

The frequent references to “Australia” deal are just a way to con the public that he’s actually got a deal when he hasn’t.Overlooking the fact that Australia hasn’t got a free trade deal with the EU and it has its own free trade deal with its immediate neighbours. Just emphasises what a charlatan and liar Johnson is.

MayBee70 Thu 10-Dec-20 23:59:54

And Philip Hammond called for there to be an enquiry into it. I’ll try to do a link to the Guardian article about it.

MayBee70 Thu 10-Dec-20 23:56:42

That’s what Johnson’s sister must have been referring to.

Lucretzia Thu 10-Dec-20 23:49:46

I clicked and expanded.

Thank you ladies

Heather Wheeler on tv just now, having been shown a clip of Johnson saying he had a deal and that Toyota would be safe still argued that he was talking about a withdrawal agreement. Oh and something about it was up to Toyota to negotiate with the EU for us to safeguard themselves. And that the EU always negotiate like this.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 10-Dec-20 23:44:47

I can’t make it any bigger, but click on it and it should expand, although quite frankly it is not really telling you something you didn’t already know,

Some people are going to prosper mightily from a no deal.

Callistemon Thu 10-Dec-20 23:40:20

Can you tap or click on it and expand it?
I couldn't have read it otherwise

Lucretzia Thu 10-Dec-20 23:30:29

I mean a magnifying glass ... uh oh. My memory's going.

Lucretzia Thu 10-Dec-20 23:29:52

I can't read that WWM

I need better glasses
Or a microscope!

Here in France we regularly get frozen legs of New Zealand lamb, reasonably priced. AS soon as it appears it goes. The only downside is that it needs a lot of flavouring. Nowhere as good as Welsh mountain lamb. I haven't tried the French salt marsh lamb which I understand is very good but too expensive for me. Last time looked in the supermarket a leg was about 36 - 38 euros.

Dinahmo NZ lamb here is generally half the price of locally produced Welsh lamb, unless there is a special offer.

Dinahmo Thu 10-Dec-20 22:40:18

That's the reason we must hope for a deal. This has been mentioned for many months but the Leavers just ignore it.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 10-Dec-20 22:33:54

Anyone on GN due to make a killing?

MayBee70 Thu 10-Dec-20 21:57:08

I should have asked my MP if it means we get better weather with it...

Dinahmo Thu 10-Dec-20 21:49:19

Keeleklogger's comments about French and German jackboots I found appalling. No wonder we are referred to as Little Englanders.

The EU are trying hard to reach a deal although I am at a loss to understand why. The English Leavers have done nothing but moan about the EU since Farage came upon the scene. I think that they should leave the UK to sink or swim and sadly, I think it's more likely to be the former.

The Australia deal is a red herring , the EU has no special arrangements the details are very non specific with Australia,
The final Paragraph is, quote:-
the agreements will not affect the way in which the EU regulates food safety or consumer protection. Imports to the EU will still have to satisfy all EU product rules and regulations – without exception.
How on earth the UK can promote this as a credible deal is beyond me

NZ does have limited quotas for lamb and dairy products

growstuff Thu 10-Dec-20 20:53:24

It's code for "no trade deal" and some "agreements" on other issues.

So why doesn’t he say an”Afghanistan deal” or “Mongolia Deal”? He obviously thinks people are too gullible to know the difference ( though maybe some of them are).

And he could be partly correct.
