Just that really. Watching the News tonight and it seems there are conflicting views, as always.

Goodbye and good luck! I'd rather live in and be part of a Great Britain than part of a not so great EU.

The problem is that when it comes to size we are Little Britain. EU is Great. Or did you think 'Great' as in 'Great Britain' meant something else?

Just because you say something nice about another country doesn't mean you "hate your own country". How does that make sense. I love France and I love my own country too- not mutually exclusive.

We do co-operate with several European states, certainly Aerospace, Defence, Energy and Research, and France is high up the list. Now we are out of the EU I would expect that to gradually reduce, after all the objective of Brexit was to get a better deal from elsewhere.

God, everything that the U.K. has built up during the past 40 years is being hollowed out.

More good news for Brexit fans - Jim Radcliffe billionaire boss of Landrover and Brexit supporter, confirms his new landrover will be built in France, not Wales as he previously promised.

Misleading Vegan.
Radcliffe has bought the Mercedes plant that built “Smart” cars, he intends to build the “Grenadier” which is a ultra luxury version of the Landrover Defender it will probably appeal to the Arabs. I guess French jobs were more valued than Welsh jobs.
Factory will be asset stripped within 5 yrs.

I expect she has Oxbridge degrees in history, politics and economics at the very least then.? Or even better!
If anyone seriously thinks that the French ( and no, not the people naturally) have ever had British interests at heart, then they are sorely mistaken.

MaizieD when rational argument fails you invariably become personal.
You haven’t read much history, obviously.

That was a mistake ??

Only copying your own mantra whitwave ( which never fails to amuse!)

I meant the failing to read much history? I’ll let maizie advise you on that

seamstress Wed 09-Dec-20 11:15:24

lemongrove it might be obvious to you that "the French" is the same as "the French Government" but it doesn't mean the same thing. Anyway, even in you apologetic version, it isn't true, there are numerous Anglo-French cooperative initiatives which have been mutually beneficial, if you want list I'll make one.

granny 23 my last message was for you. It's like a marriage, if one partner wishes to leave, even though you still love them - let them go, there's no point in wasting your life trying to make them change their mind! The UK should be united, but if Scotland wants to go see should let you go! Goodbye and good luck in the EU in the future. I feel much safer here in Britain than affiliated to the EU and becoming under their control

I thought it was so obvious that it didn’t need saying.
The actual people of a country don’t come into it, it’s those with power ( the govt) that counts.

lemongrove- you didn't say "the French government" in your original remark - you said "the French" .. a bit of a difference, making a nasty remark about 50 odd million people.

I think it speaks volumes about you MaizieD and some other EU lovers on here that you hate your own country.

You may see it as an ‘unpleasant’ remark, I see it as a true one.
The French government have never fallen over themselves to do anything to help the UK.

Speaks volumes about you, lemon

Alegrias2 Wed 09-Dec-20 10:50:47

Some of us quite like the French..... ?

Dating back to 1295, the Auld Alliance was built upon Scotland and France’s shared interests in controlling England’s aggressive expansion plans.

Plus ça change.

What Jaberwok wrote about Vichy France is certainly true biba although it may not have been to your liking.

Those who voted to Leave the EU were ‘betrayed’ by a great deal of MP’s.....all those who wriggled to get off the hook of the referendum results ( even though they themselves had voted in Parliament to uphold those same results.)
Thankfully, we did leave, but it was a close thing.
