Obviously, the Oprah interview with the Sussexes.

I will because I want to hear it straight from the source rather than media spin/interpretation so that I can comment later on what I saw and heard, when discussions start up as they surely will.

However, I don’t think they should be doing an interview at all (I felt the same about Diana and Charles interviews) these things end up backfiring against them.

maddyone Sun 07-Mar-21 10:51:09

I don’t think I’ll be watching as I’ve never intended to, but there is the point in the OP that if you watch you see it first hand for yourself. The trouble is that it’ll be boring, and probably annoying. No, I think I’ll see enough of it the next day to make my mind up.

I agree with EllanVallen good post Ellan.

Two hours is far too long anyway.

trisher Sun 07-Mar-21 10:48:24

Don't know. I've gathered from this thread that Unforgotten has been shifted. As I would have been watching that I am now undecided, depends what else I can find.

PamelaJ1 Sun 07-Mar-21 10:41:32

I’ve just set the TV to record it. It says it’s on at 8pm in my TV guide but on the guide on the tv it’s 9??‍♀️.
Without the adverts it should be quite a bit shorter I think.

I feel that for someone who is so woke it does seems odd that Megan (with Harry) seems to be so hell bent on spreading discord? Perhaps she won’t? I feel I have to watch it myself, as others have said, to make up my own mind.

henetha Sun 07-Mar-21 10:39:09

In theory I don't want to watch it. But I'm very weak willed and know darn well that I will watch it in spite of myself.
Sheer curiosity I suppose. Can't resist.

Urmstongran Sun 07-Mar-21 10:16:16

? for you Smileless this must be churning up a lot of unpleasant memories and emotions. I wonder if your estranged son & his partner will be watching? It might prick their consciences you never know and make it uncomfortable viewing for them, deep down.

Smileless2012 Sun 07-Mar-21 10:08:48

I wont be watching it. It's too close to home and has already been stirring up some very unpleasant memories and emotions from our own estrangement from our son that happened more than 8 years ago.

Excellent post EllanVannin. The first and last paragraphs sum up perfectly how our ES has behaved.

Urmstongran Sun 07-Mar-21 10:06:56

Totally agree with you EV.

I think they are lashing out and will regret this. Far better to keep your dignity and just get on with your chosen path.

I’m not sure whether I’ll watch it or not. I’m another who’d be watching ‘The Unforgotten’ if it hasn’t been shunted off the channel to make room!

2 hours is way too long anyway. I think I’m leaning towards ignoring it tomorrow, then watching it on ITV Hub so I can fast forward all the (bound to be prolific high income generating) adverts!

joannapiano Sun 07-Mar-21 09:55:13

No. They are boring.

Shinamae Sun 07-Mar-21 09:50:03

No

EllanVannin Sun 07-Mar-21 09:45:36

I think it's shocking.
If you have to justify your reasons for leaving why does it have to be at the expense of others.? It's cowardly and vindictive to run the Royal Family down like this.
A guilty conscience makes you do things like this.

Bullying my eye. I'm sure that anyone who joins the household is guided into their positions, but Markle obviously/ conveniently saw it as bullying because she's used to taking centre stage---aw diddums.

The RF are powerless to fight back. It's disgusting !

I'm not against anyone doing what they want to do in life, no matter who it is, but for God's sake be honest about it and don't start up a blame game if/ when things aren't what you expected. They're rubbish.

Jane43 Sun 07-Mar-21 09:35:34

I don’t really want to add to the viewing figures. It will be all over the news on Monday and I’ll read what is said on here on Tuesday. Let them have their say then go away, enjoy their house and children and make their millions from the Netflix programmes they are supposed to be making.

25Avalon Sun 07-Mar-21 09:29:51

Casdon if you’d rather watch Masterchef that says it all!

I don’t think I can bear to watch that smug smile on Markle’s face.

FlexibleFriend Sun 07-Mar-21 09:23:27

What's the point of watching this childish couple who apparently crave privacy yet constantly parade themselves for the benefit of the press they allegedly hate. He thinks we still see the child walking behind the funeral procession, what I see is a very spoilt and entitled man who needs to grow up and get on with life. They have nothing to say that hasn't already been said by others. I don't like be preached at and this couple do a lot of preaching but don't lead by example. So no I won't be watching as I find them irrelevant and pointless.

JenniferEccles Sun 07-Mar-21 09:02:18

The Sunday Times has reported that the Queen will not be watching it as courtiers call it a ‘circus’, but they said the palace is prepared to retaliate with disclosures about the couple’s behaviour if the monarchy is criticised.

The gloves are off!

We will watch it but probably in two segments.

I suspect it won’t live up to its hype though.

grannysyb Sun 07-Mar-21 09:01:06

Can't be ar...! What happened to the much vaunted desire for "privacy?" They have taken the option to do this, knowing that the royals won't be able to comment.

NanaandGrampy Sun 07-Mar-21 09:01:05

No I wont .

I wont waste my time. I just don't care what they have to say.

Gingster Sun 07-Mar-21 08:51:59

I like H and M. There is much that could have been done to help them stay in the royal family. I’m sure M has been treated abominably by the palace officials. She is a mature woman who is used to voicing her opinions and won’t be told what to say, think or do. Unlike Diana who was so young and was able to be controlled by the establishment.
I think they are silly to have ageeed to the interview. If they want privacy , this isn’t the way .
I don’t really like many of the royals.
Don’t like Philip, Andrew, Ann. Even the Queen comes across as curmudgeonly and cold.
I admire William and Kate, Charles and Camilla, Edward and Sophie .
I will watch the interview as I like to See for myself and you can’t have an opinion if you don’t watch it.

Nell8 Sun 07-Mar-21 08:44:00

I'll watch it, but what I won't be able to see are the teams of agents, money men, PR experts and lawyers who have worked behind the scenes to make the "show" a success for those on screen.

J52 Sun 07-Mar-21 08:38:42

I cannot see the point of the interview, other than to isolate Harry from his family and as a vehicle for more publicity.
Sadly no good will come of it for any of the family, who after all are human.

grandmajet Sun 07-Mar-21 08:36:19

I wish I wasn’t interested, but I am. It’s a shame when people’s lives turn into a soap opera but I suppose that is what they want. I also watched the wedding, which I thought was beautiful, and have followed their story with increasing sadness ever since. I just hope they can find some peace now.
I may record it and watch on a day when Grandpajet is out so I don’t have to listen to his tutting!

Grandma70s Sun 07-Mar-21 08:24:57

I don’t know when it’s on.

I shall probably have a look if it doesn’t clash with anything important like University Challenge, or my sleep. I’m sure it will annoy me, though. I can take or leave Prince Harry, but both Oprah and Meghan irritate me a LOT.

MaggieTulliver Sun 07-Mar-21 08:09:19

No interest whatsoever. Can’t wait for this nonsense to blow over so I don’t have to read about it anymore.

Calendargirl Sun 07-Mar-21 08:06:00

I shall certainly watch. I like the Channel 5 royal stuff on a Saturday night, there is not much else on and I am very interested in the RF.

I see Meghan’s choice of dress and hairstyle for the interview is being likened to what Wallis Simpson looked like in one of her photos, and it is very similar. Shades of history repeating itself the obvious implication.

I hope Oprah does ask all the awkward question i.e.

Why did Harry never meet your father long before the wedding?

Is it true that you made Catherine cry during wedding dress fittings? If so, why?

Why did so many of your staff resign after working for you for only a short time?

Being part of the Royal Family is obviously not what you thought it would be. Tell me, what did you really think it would involve, and why did Harry not give you all the nitty-gritty before you agreed to become part of ‘The Firm’?

Lots more pertinent question, let’s hope she asks them, and gets real answers.

And I hope M doesn’t resort to too much bump cradling either.

seacliff Sun 07-Mar-21 08:01:19

I don't approve of it but will probably watch, but not sure if I can take 2 hours of her 'poor me" comments. Yes the special Diana smudged eye make up. All so false and staged.

Even worse, it replaces Forgotten.

aggie Sun 07-Mar-21 08:00:24

I never was into the “ I’m a sad orphan “ bit anyway , but I might watch it , well record , and whizz through the advertising, .The plush background and doe eyed makeup have already made me cross
