More good news for the family.

I’m yet another who’s glad you’re still here. You were so kind and supportive to me when I was going through a very difficult time.

EllanVannin Tue 16-Mar-21 15:56:33

I don't like hearing about anyone who's ill, no matter who it is.

Alegrias1 Tue 16-Mar-21 15:54:38

NellG I really can't see any evidence of suzie calling you a liar anywhere. That's quite a serious accusation - if you stand by it I think you need to produce evidence, or else take it back.

Anniebach Tue 16-Mar-21 15:50:49

A month in hospital, he was surely very ill

suziewoozie Tue 16-Mar-21 15:48:00

I’m sorry Nell but you are really going to have to justify that post

Interesting....the assumption that someone is "offended" when they stick up for the privacy of a public figure. Like "offended" is the only thing that is available as a response.

When the actual word you should be using is "shocked" that people that are generally pro-monarchy seem to think its OK to talk about rumours and hearsay about a person they have never met because of the belief that everyone knows anyway. Its disrespectful, distasteful and deserving of criticism.

Right, on you go. Hard hat is on.

And then to criticise anti- monarchists who criticise the criticising of said man...... I don’t know whether to laugh or sob ???

Hugs Auntyflo

I hope he makes a good recovery

JaneJudge Tue 16-Mar-21 15:42:56

From the BBC

"Prince Philip left through a side entrance of the hospital in a wheelchair and was helped into the rear passenger seat of a waiting car."

From The Times

"Hospital staff set up a white folding screen next to a BMW at the rear of King Edward VII’s Hospital in Marylebone, central London, to shield Prince Philip, 99, from view as he left."

Whatever I feel or anyone else feels about the Royal family, the media should not have published, let alone taken a photograph of him.

LauraNorder Tue 16-Mar-21 15:41:58

We probably all know people who know people but most know when a bit of tittle tattle is appropriate and when it isn’t.
Wishing an old man well as he leaves hospital after 28 days is probably not the most appropriate time.

With great respect SW, if you don't give a fig and dislike the monarchy anyway, why did you comment on the first place? I was just dispelling the myth that PP met Penny, Lady Mountbatten, through carriage driving. This partnership came much later on after they'd known each other for years and her.ex husband all his life.

Why should I not comment? I really don’t get this telling people not to post. I’m now being criticised for not wanting to gossip about a poorly old man who should not have been photographed leaving hospital and certainly shouldn’t be being gossiped about like some of you are even if the excuse was putting the record straight. You really couldn’t make it up could you ( except on GN royalty threads people so often do ?)

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 16-Mar-21 15:34:49

My son ‘knows people who know people’. The Queen and Philip haven’t shared a house for years except during the pandemic when it wouldn’t be fair in the staff. The fact she didn’t visit him once in 28 days says it all.

3nanny6 Tue 16-Mar-21 15:33:34

I saw the pictures of D.O.E leaving hospital and thought how
tired and elderly he is now looking. Later in the day his car was seen being driven into Windsor Castle where himself and the Queen have been staying since the beginning of lockdown.

I too found it distasteful for posters to be commenting on his visits from his lady friend. Is it really right to speculate on his private life now he is in his old age.

Anniebach so glad you reached out and found the help you were seeking.

suziewoozie Tue 16-Mar-21 15:32:38

And again you speak for everyone on the thread - did I miss the meeting where you were elected spokeswoman of all posters?

suziewoozie Tue 16-Mar-21 15:31:12

NellG

No SW you're just the only one who feels the need to constantly badger everyone else because they are interested.

Pretty nasty comment and pretty unnecessary.

They have such super rhododendrons at Sandringham

Callistemon Tue 16-Mar-21 15:28:31

Yes, she did say that. I'm sure she would have preferred a quiet country life.
Who would want to live in leaky old Buckingham Palace? It's just the office with a few flats required when working from there, all in need of updating.

Certainly not suitable for a President but apparently good enough for the RF.

Nell8 Tue 16-Mar-21 15:25:02

OK, I might as well chip in ...

When we visited Sandringham the guide told us the Queen's favourite home is a farmhouse on the estate where she can be near horses. She will go down to Buckingham Palace for a garden party then nip home straight after. I seem to remember the Queen once said as a girl she wanted to be a farmer's wife and live in the country (presumably surrounded by her beloved dogs and horses). I think Philip has a cottage there.

Callistemon Tue 16-Mar-21 15:22:43

Even those of us with little interest do know that Phillip usually lives at Sandringham, retired, while the Queen's at BP, still working.
I thought she was living at Windsor now with Philip?

Although separate residences sounds like a jolly good idea, I might think about that.

Auntieflo Tue 16-Mar-21 15:21:24

Annie, there is one here who would reach out to you. I remember your kindness to me.

I send best wishes to the Duke if Edinburgh and hope he is happy to be at home to recover.

Anniebach I think some of those kind posters who reached out to you when you were desperate may still be around, it's just that they don't post very much now.
