When I was in Holland, the use of food names as insults was already much longer than here.

I believe 'Les Rosbifs' is an insult too.

I prefer gammon hot with parsley sauce. It makes a change from the traditional roast beef.

Any pineapple in juice, not syrup, although I agree fresh is best, Mollygo.

Neil hasn't really been on my radar a great deal, but I remember changing my Sunday paper from the Sunday Times to the Observer after he'd been editor for a while and it was drifting steadily to the right. That was nearly 40 years ago and before I was particularly politically engaged. I just knew that I didn't like what the paper was saying any more.
