When we offer up an example of something that they do in Europe that your average Tory voter doesn't like, we get told that we don't have anything to learn from Europe. They can do what they like, we're British, don'cha know?

When European countries are doing something that your average Tory voter thinks is a splendid idea, then we should be more like those chaps over the channel.

All governments do that don't they. Nick Clegg has a lot to answer for. Without Nick Clegg, David Cameron would not have been PM. Remember Cameron ultimately used that power to allow the 2016 referendum. He of course skipped off humming a merry little tune.

Actually I think nowadays (because the world isn’t what it was 50y ago) they are a good thing.

Neither does ignoring what this government is doing. People in other countries fight for democracy and we’re just watching it slip away.

I’m glad about repealing the fixed term Parliament Act. It forced us to unduly suffer the zombie Parliament.

It became a mechanism to thwart the democratic will of 17.4 million people.

As for all that utter nonsense about thwarting the democratic will of 17.4 million people. We are not yet ruled by 'the will of the people'. It is for Parliament to make the ultimate decisions.

But then, you seem to have fascist tendencies so no doubt you're perfectly happy with the trashing of Parliamentary democracy.

They would have to intercept my application for a postal ballot (signed in the little box by me) and the actual ballot paper also signed by me. Normally I would vote in person. I think that turning up at the polling station is important.

I have thought for many years that you should have to at least show your polling card before you get to vote. Photo ID is just one stage better IMO.....I am entitled to that by the way.

I agree Jax. The police don’t even turn up for burglaries these days apparently. Just issue a crime number for the insurance company.
