One law for football fans?

It seems thousands of ticketless football fans are allowed to congregate in London, leaving mountains of rubbish, getting drunk and intimidating others on public transport etc, whilst a few women at a peaceful vigil for a murdered woman are arrested, handcuffed, dragged away by police. Is it one law for football fans and another for women?

and good for them- but with those Sainsbury's bags, they are not going to get very far, are they! And how many are there clearing up, out of how many, %entage?

But this is not the point of the OP, not the point at all.

This is the ‘louts’ clearing up behind themselves…….

Kali2 In the 6 pages I've read, many things have been talked about.

Thankfully we live in more enlightened times now Avalon whereby, both girls and boys are encouraged to take up a wider range of sport, rather than gender approved nonsense.

My GD2 discovered football in primary school, now a dedicated player in the school team.

Wembley was only a quarter full and fans were all tested or double vaccinated

^Make sure you have your mobile match ticket, your ID (this should be the same as the identification you provided in the ticketing system), as well as yourface covering.Face coverings must be worn in the stadium complex at all times.

Proof of anegative Lateral Flow Test (LFT), reported and demonstrated via atext message or email from NHS Test and e screenshot or a printout. The test needs to be taken within48 hoursof the time stadium gates open. Orproof of full vaccination- both doses received at least 14 days prior to the match^

this is not what we are talking about- but the thousands who came without tests, face coverings, etc.

In our ladies football team, which plays at the top of the women’s amateur game, we have old players, young players, players of all nationalities, from all classes and backgrounds gay players, trans players etc. All we ask is that they have the ability and dedication to play at our level and that the FA approves their player registration. In this respect Football is a great leveller and players all mix together. Also many of our players have more skills than their male counterparts. Many who come to watch are amazed at how good their game is. Women can play and then some. They were permitted to play during the WW1 when the men were away and drew large crowds, but then ended up being banned. It wasn’t until 1971 they were permitted to play again.

I agree with those who don't understand how it all works in terms of unfair covid restrictions. Nothing against football, but we have a family wedding in a few weeks and the couple have had to cancel their band because there can be no dancing amongst their guests.

As for girls or young ladies playing football, it is on the timetable at snobby Roedean School and the school has a 5 aside football pitch. Good on them. This is the 21st century.

Oh dear. snobby Roedean School, what a distasteful expression.

I guess Ellianne will speak for herself, but I read that as meaning that Roedean is a posh school (which it is) and therefore shows that football is not the sole perogative of the “proles” (a more distasteful expression!)

And indeed, Ellianne has spoken for herself Polly12 but thank you for your explanation as to why a posh school was the example chosen.

Thank you Ellianne. All is clear now.

Football fans making the government and all the authorities look very weak! Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber must be feeling, billy no mates, or that he needs better type of fans not more money? Personally I’m very cross, but still trying to do my bit to get out of this raging pandemic, hang on did I miss something is it all over?

Callistemon Sat 19-Jun-21 16:10:58

Well, there might be a protest march in this house shortly.

I very kindly left DH watching the football in one room and went back in there to find him watching the tennis!

First of all, Alegrias1, thank you for your contribution at 09:21:43. Priceless and oh so accurate.
Secondly, if it is true, would someone please enlighten me as to why Scotland's First Minister has singled out Manchester for 'recognition'?

Here are some of those drunk and disorderly Scotland fans that some GNers are so angry about.

And some more
From today’s Independent

Scottish football fans helped clean up piles of litter left in central London ahead of the Euro 2020 match against England
Let’s not tar everybody with the same brush

Whatdayisit Sat 19-Jun-21 15:51:57

Yes the amount of things we can't do because of covid until it comes to football. It sells newspapers and that is the controller.

We went to RHS Bridgewater and it was so hot the grandchildren had drank all their water bottles and half of ours. The queue to the cafe was over an hour in the sun and then you were lucky to get a sea. I asked if there was a water bottle filling point and the assistant said "no because of covid and you can always buy some from the cafe!"

I thought places like that were supposed to be more environmentally friendly but no because of covid plastic waste has largely been dumped literally.
But football well anything goes. And i am a football fan.

Drunk football fans trashing a city are in the minority of fans but they do exist and cause havoc- not much evidence of social distancing

Let's face it, there have been a few such incidents over the past year and they weren't all football fans.

Callistemon Sat 19-Jun-21 15:39:01

As long as you've persuaded him not to wear that vest any more, Marydoll - you wouldn't want him to be mistaken for a lout when he leaves the house.
?

Marydoll Sat 19-Jun-21 15:33:03

Callistemon, don't believe everything I write about Mr MDoll. He is a good 'un at heart. ?Albeit his heart appears to be made of solid concrete! ?

I had never received flowers before, so I was stunned, to say the least!

vegansrock Sat 19-Jun-21 15:31:32

Lin52 are you saying women should not have been allowed a vigil because other women who have been horribly murdered don’t have equal publicity ? Of course all women murdered should be able to be mourned publicly or otherwise, but it’s smacks of whataboutery to say just because x didn’t happened y shouldn’t happen. Drunk football fans trashing a city are in the minority of fans but they do exist and cause havoc- not much evidence of social distancing and plenty of singing and dancing which is not allowed anywhere else, which is why I suggested it was one law for them and a different law for others.

Callistemon Sat 19-Jun-21 15:29:15

I'm impressed, never thought it of Rab C Nesbitt. Red roses!

Maybe if these crowd events some of which are supposed to restricted as to how close people are, will see the virus getting out of control ,and then things will maybe go back to another long lockdown as the powers to be have not got a clue .

And maybe not.

Michael12 Sat 19-Jun-21 15:21:18

Its out of control , if figures are right it should spiral .
As regards to football , I follow cycling on TV and events are from Europe , certain areas such as mountain top finishes which have no barriers , the fans touch the riders and then you read reports that a certain rider had caught a mild doe of covid .
