So Michael Gove is getting divorced now. Surely he hasn’t been having an affair?

GrannyGravy13 Sat 03-Jul-21 09:08:33

I have just read all this thread, I refuse to be drawn into unfounded speculation.

It is always sad when a marriage breaks down, especially when there are children involved.

Someone on here called Gove's wife "Sara Vile", having read through these posts I suggest some GNs should look in the mirror. Interesting how quickly PC behaviour goes out the window. I'm no fan of Gove but tbh if he's straight, gay or bi, it's of no interest to me unless he's committing something illegal. I thought we'd moved on a bit from the prurient days of the News of the World!

Well, he was found guilty just a few days ago of breaking the law by giving a contract to Public First. It's curious that people seem more bothered about politicians' private lives than blatant cronyism. IMO the curious thing about Gove is that both Mrs Gove and Mrs Cummings both wrote articles denying something which I don't even think people were accusing them of doing. Gavin Williamson was mentioned, which links with that strange photo of him with a whip. Maybe it's all a sophisticated "dead cat" to take people's minds off the guilty verdict against Gove.

I wonder how much cocaine was involved. Gove is a known user.

foxie perhaps your post would be better directed at Vine?

GillT57 Sat 03-Jul-21 08:48:22

Like most on here, I feel for the children, but also remember the vile articles that Vine has written about people, people who also have innocent children, people whose families have had to read the vile things she is paid to write, so you will excuse me if I don't give her much kind consideration. She is no Martha Hancock. As for the hinted at gay relationship, I just hope it isn't spun in a way that we feel unable to criticise without being seen as homophobic. I care not a jot the gender of his lover, but care a great deal about the hypocrisy, yet again, of this cabinet. If it is Cummings, it explains a lot, especially why Gove was never mentioned in his recent statements and leaks about the Tory administration.

I find it very funny, many on here decry The Daily Mail, but are happy to use it to further their cause of dislike against a Government Minister. Who knows, if true .and not the imagination and hopes of many GN , that his wife may have known about the affair, if there is one, hence the divorce already in motion.

The Daily Mail is racist and panders to the lowest common denominator, which is why I dislike it. What I find curious is that it seems to be trying to bring down a minister - and I wonder why. What's the agenda?

It's called gossip, Lin. Everyone enjoys a bit of gossip.

And government ministers who are found by the courts to have acted unlawfully are fair game.

lemongrove I'd guess the general revulsion is about the person of Gove rather than homophobia.

For me, it's not a problem if a govt minister is gay. With Gove, years later, I'm still concerned with the mayhem he and Cummings caused in education. This old headline summed it up.

Do govts not realise the more chaos they create, the more good, passionate professionals will leave. Same in NHS, and presumably police.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 03-Jul-21 07:42:25

My MP is gay. An excellent MP he is too.

Katie59 Sat 03-Jul-21 07:39:29

He is not alone in Westminster if he is gay, 5% of MPs are openly gay, probably a few more that havn’t “come out”.
Plenty of bias, prospects of political advancement is not good.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 03-Jul-21 07:36:50

It is always the Tories isn’t it?

It is as if governing the country is just a little sideline to the important things in life.

Was there ever such a government?

Perhaps people were saying that when the Profumo affair aired?

I was too young to be very concerned, but my parents were scandalised.

Framilode Sat 03-Jul-21 06:30:52

Gove is single and ready to mingle.

Calm yourselves ladies.

No 10 are refusing to say whether Gove broke lockdown rules and questions over his living arrangements during this period.

I think most of us will pay not to be shown the video.

We could donate the money to a charity of choice.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 03-Jul-21 06:06:16

This would all make the most glorious Whitehall farce wouldn’t it?

Hancock and Gove could move into a flat together with another spare room or two for others should they need it. Johnson won’t be long before he joins them no doubt.

Mind you we’d have somehow to get over the yuk factor.

vegansrock Sat 03-Jul-21 05:03:06

Let’s face it, the tabloids, and I suspect the public, love a sex scandal. If there’s one to be had it will be out there eventually, unless you are like Johnson and can afford payoffs. Mind you, Gove and sex scandal do not appear to be natural bedfellows.

Did anyone really think "Master of the Universe" applied to any of our so-called leaders?

I think Sarah was saying that cabinet ministers erroneously believe themselves to be 'Masters of the Universe', I don't thing anyone else does grin

NotSpaghetti Sat 03-Jul-21 00:19:14

No, FarNorth but probably several of them think they are.

She knows that, deep down inside, you are not the Master of the Universe you purport to be.

Interestingly, if there was any truth in the gay theory, what does that say about GN members who are horrified at the mere thought? Would they be so repelled if it was a Labour shadow minister? Does homophobia raise it’s ugly head only for Conservative MP’s and Ministers?
Have a think about it.wink

Who's horrified?

Curlywhirly Fri 02-Jul-21 23:39:10

After the outing of Matt Hancock it was hinted in the press that there was another high profile MP who was also having an extramarital affair, and it was well known by those in the media. Maybe this is the MP?
