Kuenssberg Cummings interview

We just watched this.
DH was annoyed by Cummings but I noticed why he was annoyed.

The classic sign of a liar is that someone who constantly puts their hand or fingers across their mouth when speaking which he did. He also put his fingers on his face, touched his ear (didn't want to hear what Kuenssberg was asking).

When he spoke of how he and his group manipulated Johnson his hands were nowhere near his mouth. Nor were they when he talked about he conned the British public. So much was truth.

He wants to overthrow the government (democracy?.

Respect! to Laura Kuenssberg who skewered him again and again.

You are right dinahmo. Having worked in tv many years ago we used to film the interviewer separately afterwards asking the questions and various reactions to answers which were then edited in.

Noddies?

But she wasn't even looking at where he would have been sitting. She's a professional. She must have been able to manage that?

We noticed at least one noddie.

I just kept wondering who 'we' are and why 'we' think we can run control the country better than anyone else

Exactly this. And what are ‘they’ up to now?

The most entertaining hour!
Absolutely rivetting.

Weasel, yes. But no more than Boris deserves. All of them a complete shower. I think I would rather live with the ghastly Le Pen if she wins the election in France next year. Unlikely but more acceptable that this lot in UK.

Laura Kuensberg is a brilliant journalist/interviewer and I couldn't care less what she wears, it's irrelevant to thinking people.

As a youngster I worked for the GPO and had to sign the OSA

He explained that he had been ill the previous day, he knew he had to return to London (Johnson asked him to apparently) and he wasn't sure that the could do that long drive. Hence the trip to Barnard Castle. He did have a rather elongated explanation as to why he'd told that lie.

Why didn't his wife drive?

MaizieD I also noticed how little LK looked at him. Even if she was repulsed by the sight of him, she should have been more professional. And I’m an LK fan.

People doing in depth interviews usually look their subject straight in the eye, very searchingly. They don't look away, as she did. I did wonder if she has some eye irregularity that might account for it, like a squint, but it looked very odd to me.

I think that it was a fake interview. As I recall, Cummings was held to be Kuenssberg's 'go to' source for insider information from No 10. He can't have revolted her that much... We're being played...

I thought that Kuenssberg was slightly inappropriately dressed, but I also noticed how quickly she is ageing. She does work really long hours I think, always popping up whatever the hour to give a statement or an interview. She did well last night I thought and pushed him for clarification and answers.

I feel that Cummings is a dangerous man, what he said may or may no5 be true but he seems to be wanting to stir things up and make trouble.

What with Cummings and Harry Wales we are in for a lot of “truth “ I think.

Dinahmo Wed 21-Jul-21 12:33:38

I tend to believe most of what Cummings said in the interview. What shocked me was the disdain and contempt with which he spoke about the leavers who blindly followed and accepted what we now know to have been lies.

As I have pointed out above, there were very few occasions when they were both on screen at the same time so how could you tell that she wasn't looking at him?

Liking him or not isn’t the point though is it, what’s important is whether any of what he said was true?

I think all the stuff about 'we' is quite true. He didn't get where he is by working on his own. He has backers who now want Johnson out. Tufton St is a very obvious place to look.

This is one article I've found on it, there are plenty of others.

Some people will scoff.. grin

BBC hated him when he was in with the gov and Boris. Now he is against Boris as are the BBC they think Cummings is flavour of the month. Biased Broadcasting Cooperation. Defund them now!!!!

Don't you think dislike of the BBC is less important than the topic of the interview and what came out of it? More than most of us expected I think.

I don’t think we’ve had the truth about Castle Barnard either. It didn’t sound right at the time. You don’t drive 30 miles to check your eyesight is ok to drive. Aren’t there some science labs or something there?

I think that when interviews such as this are filmed there will be a camera on each participant. We rarely saw both together apart from the long shots (when her legs could be seen!) Often reaction shots are taken afterwards. There is probably masses of footage on the cutting room floor (to use a very old phrase). More than likely in the delete box.

annodomini Wed 21-Jul-21 12:18:51

Let's assume that some, if not all, of his account is true, then he carries even more of the blame than his erstwhile boss, since he went along with it at the time. They were a partnership and when partnerships break down, the poison leaks out.
(sorry, mixed metaphor!)

westendgirl Wed 21-Jul-21 12:18:50

There's also the point that he was appointed by Johnson, which says a lot about Johnson's ability to pick a trustworthy cohort .How can we trust a leader who used the abilities of Cummings when it suited him . Cummings was also a close adviser of Michael Gove .

Yes, we have GlaxoSmithKline at Barnard Castle.

Why didn't Kuenssberg ask the very obvious question. "Why didn't your wife drive?"

Hell, I've driven from Co Durham to Essex plenty of times on my own. Why couldn't Mary have driven if he felt so groggy?

All that 'security' stuff was very suspect too; if he had to send his family away for their safety his wife could have driven her child up to Durham; he didn't need to go..

And if they were so bl**dy insecure, why did they all come back again?

Shazmo24 Wed 21-Jul-21 12:11:18

Cumming just reminds me of a ferret for some unknown reason (sorry to any ferret owners,)

cupcake1 Wed 21-Jul-21 12:10:42

He’s a beady eyed, revengeful, malicious, unelected, spiteful little ?! I loathe him does he not remember how he tried to dupe the great British public with Barnard Castle?!! Now he’s saying it was for security reasons- really???!!!!

Greta Wed 21-Jul-21 12:08:42

We may loathe DC but he did serve as the PM's chief adviser. So presumably Boris Johnson did trust him.

Aepgirl Wed 21-Jul-21 11:56:25

This man is a back-stabber and a rat. He got found out but thought it would all ‘go away’. Nobody should ever trust him.
