There's no defending Britain First or anything that they try to do, and anyone saying they agree with them a little bit or that warning against them is hysteria politicking are falling for their methods.

They win people over by pretending to support the same things they do - ex-servicemen's rights and animal welfare - so that they say they support them a bit.

Farage and his gang never won a landslide in any election but by God they managed to mess up this country.

Well wise up and realise that that they are manipulating you and those who think they are standing up for the UK. Angela Rayner's word could be used against Britain First and nobody should complain about that.

My comment regarding hysteria politicking was that they have tried in many forms to get noticed, each time something goes wrong and hey ho a change of name and reinvention. The only people not seeing through their mask are idiots with little or no grasp of politics.
They will never garner enough support to have any influence in my opinion.

Are you implying that folks who want to support U.K. veterans and are interested in animal welfare are blindly being led into voting for BF ?

If you are that would indicate a landslide in coming elections, which is never going to happen.

Yes, some of them are. They click on a link thinking it's about abused animals or homeless vets, then they are bombarded with propaganda. Some of it seems harmless enough to start with - and maybe people even believe in a tiny bit of it. That's exactly how people get sucked in!

The danger is not just BF’s total policies but as Scones says their method of operating is what is of concern.

No, they really are bully-boy fascists.

And I'm sure everyone thinks they are making up their own minds, none of us are going to come on here and say "I fall for the propaganda"

Anyone who has worked in a school could tell you that that is a completely made up idea promoted heavily as part of the Culture Wars. Teachers represent the whole spectrum of political ideologies, indoctrination in any one of them is not their game.

Political parties don't have to win landslides to have an impact on countries. Sorry to bring up Farage again, he couldn't win an election to parliament but by creating an environment where what he stood for became mainstream, he managed to change the face of this country.

Does that include people who agree with a "tiny, tiny" bit of their policies? I didn't think calling people idiots was encouraged on GN.

I agree with you. Left wing ideologies aren't taught to young children, unless you include being kind to each other and sharing.

I am very confused about “left wing ideologies" too.

Children are taught British values and of course not to descriminate based on sex, race, gender, religion, sexuality etc etc

I do think that some folks whether they are on GN or not tend to think that they are mote politically aware which in itself is a form of snobbery.

I think it’s very easy whilst posting on GN to assume that whilst folk are going about their everyday lives they are also focused on politics. In my opinion the focus comes about just before election time.

Exactly! There are people around who couldn't give a stuff about politics and claim not to even know that Britain First is a bunch of fascist thugs. So Britain First include something in their manifesto which appeals and - lo and behold - they get a vote.

My son studies politics at a Russell Group uni. According to him, many of the undergrads are wannabe Conservative SpAds. They're not indocrinated with any political views. They're taught to think.

I can honestly say whilst bringing up five children, sharing the running of our business with DH and spending all of every school holiday abroad (at my parents) I barely thought of politics until the lead up to elections. I cannot recall having political debate with friends much either, we were all to busy living

growstuff and those who are not Conservative SPAD wannabes are Labour ones…

To clarify although I might agree with the odd thing Britain First say there is no way I would vote for them, or before that the BNP from which they have evolved. They are known as a right wing fascist party and I would not vote for them and neither would I vote for the communist party.
