Johnson’s lack of respect

To turn up looking like a tramp is showing clear disrespect to all the fallen.

It is funny or clever, it is a disgrace.

Generally speaking he looks like he’s been dragged through a hedge backwards. He needs a new hairdresser. Perhaps he could stop having peroxide blond hair! Mind you, it goes with his image! Maybe he could just grow up and take his responsibility seriously, although I doubt it!

I agree with the posters above. He’s overweight but good well fitting suits can cover a multitude of sins.

His hair just needs to be kept shorter and tidier and Boris to keep his b****y hands off it!

His deportment is dreadful, needs to stand up straight, open his hands, put his shoulders back, and look up as if he is happy to see people.

Oh, and stop bumbling and get his speeches prepared thoughtfully.

The main thing I see when I look at that is how pale he looks, with black circles under his eyes, he looks exhausted! But he is the public face of Great Britain and obviously needs some help to look the part! That’s all in addition to getting some empathy for people and do some good instead of wallowing. He obviously has a big job to do and a busy home life but surely help can be provided?

Here is a different group photo, they all look well dressed, except for one. Maybe he should hold himself in another position.

Was it a Labour leader who wore a donkey jacket one year?

At least Boris is wearing a suit. smile

Josianne Sat 13-Nov-21 20:04:01

svelte
That's a good word lemongrove and very lacking in Boris' case.

I don't see any lack of respect. He is wearing a collar and tie, his jacket is buttoned, he is standing to attention and as he is outside there is a breeze blowing, ruffling his hair, even.
Fashion plate, never.

Blimey you set a low bar!

Women MPs are criticised frequently for the way they dress so why should Boris be any different.

I think anyone in the public eye can be criticised for the way they look/ dress.
If weighty though ( Boris Johnson and Gordon Brown ) then they never manage to look svelte or natty unfortunately.
I remember a poster describing Johnson’s appearance as that of a burst sofa once ( had to say that made me laugh.)

Re my comment above at 16.43 - I thought Lemon was having a go at Michael Foot and his duffle coat. I forgot about Corbyn.

Since you have issued a fulsome apology hmm I will forget your rude comment earlier.

It looks as if his fitness regime is failing, or he has given it up, somebody should tell him that clothes that fit make such a difference

I think the look is entirely intentional. Silly man.

I agree.

Im sure it wasn't intentional, but Gordon Brown's suits looked like they never fitted properly either.

maddyone Sat 13-Nov-21 18:33:59

To be honest, he is a mess. I thought he might have smartened himself up when he became Prime Minister, but no such luck. He looks a mess all the time. He needs to get some suits properly tailored to actually fit him properly. He’s always bursting out of his suit. He’s lost some weight since he was ill with Covid, but still looks scruffy. Carrie always looks nice, I thought she would have managed to influence him a bit, but obviously not.

Casdon Sat 13-Nov-21 17:33:08

Dinahmo scruffy is surely unshaven, unwashed, unkempt and inappropriately dressed for the occasion. That’s what it means to me anyway.

I think you’re over egging this MaizieD. I’m no fan of his, but Johnson is not scruffy. He’s overweight, and wears clothes that are too tight. He has poor deportment and dreadful hair. He does not look like a tramp, he looks like a man who is completely disinterested in how he looks, there are millions of men like that in the UK unfortunately.

I don’t see the connection between his appearance and his failures in other departments, which are fair game for criticism.

Sounds like a good definition of scruffy to me.

Calistemon

In a way I do have some sympathy as I always manage to look like a sack of potatoes however hard I try.
My hair is "difficult" too!

His hair is falling out. It's the new style comb over that he's rocking.

It’s his look isn’t it??
Still, he is wearing a suit.
Not an anorak.

Who wore an anorak?

No one - she's just having a go.

MaizieD not much tolerance from me. That's why I said I judge on what people do not how they dress.
If all you are worried about is BJs suit then you need to check out what he does.

I think that if you read my post you'll find that I know what he does grin

I am not his greatest fan. I think the scruffiness on top of all the rest just adds insult to injury.

Lilydrop Sat 13-Nov-21 15:37:46

I think the press just picks the worse pictures to print.

I wouldn't care if he looked like Worzel Gummidge if he was a good PM

Jaxjacky Sat 13-Nov-21 15:18:32

Calistemon similarly mine said, repeatedly, ‘could do better’ as could the PM in many ways.

Calistemon Sat 13-Nov-21 15:14:51

I'm going to be charitable here and say "He tried"

But, as my school report used to say "Calistemon should try harder".
I never did get a prize for deportment
