I seem to recall there was rather a fanfare concerning moving government departments to the regions.
This morning I found this on the BBC. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tyne-59390938
So what they are doing is building another huge office block in the centre of Newcastle and moving staff from the outskirts of Newcastle and removing employment in Washington, a deprived area not too far from Newcastle!
Public transport from Washington is not easy and Benton is certainly better suited for those who live north of Newcastle. It also means that our inadequate road system may become even more snarled up and more polluted.
It might be great for central Newcastle business but is just moving offices from outside the centre to into the centre?
I wonder if more work will be diverted to Newcastle? Who knows? It will also have the bonus of increasing house prices in those areas the have good transport links to Newcastle!
The building has not even be started yet.
Anyway, it’s left me spitting mad even though I live in the area. Other opinions are welcome.
